September 28, 2016, DVC Member Cruise on the Magic!

I found my information from last year.

If DVC follows suit, you will have a Disney Files in your room. That is a wonderful souvenir since it tells about all special DVC events on the cruise.

Last year on embarkation day there WAS a DVC party at 2.

There were things planned at 9 AM.

On day 2....Great Moments with Walt Disney

On Day 3....Vacations you Never Outgrow

On Day 4....which was CC day....Community Cook- off. It was Ken Potrock vs Maryellen Hooper

So, what do you say, we have Breakfast Meet begin at 8?

Yes to 8 am..
Johnny Quest I live in Haddon Township. Glad so many New Jerseyans take advantage of the Disney sailing out of NYC. I LOVE just being a drive away for the ship. I was hoping the Magic would come back. Hope they continue doing this. I just love past the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island and going under the Verrazano Bridge. I get up at 4 am when we reenter the port. Its so peaceful and exciting. My father came to this country through Ellis Island.

Tinked you've cruised Canada?!?! Yes, twice. The first cruise out of NYC and again in the beginning of Sept.
Did you drive to the NYC port? Absolutely. It was wonderful or maybe I should say Magical being two hours away from the port. The first cruise I was with two friends and dropped them off with the luggage on the lower level. Unexpectedly got chased and had to go to the parking level. Called my friends to tell them and both their phones were in the car.! Parking was great. Had no problems at all. The Sept. cruise we drove directly to the roof to park and came down the elevator I believe. There were people on the roof to help with the luggage. The second time to the roof there were dogs to sniff the car. I think you pay on entry. I will go right to parking. It's only a four day cruise, how much luggage can you need. LOL that's what I keep telling myself..
Did you visit Halifax? Loved Halifax! Toured the Fort, visited Peggy's Cove, the weather was beautiful both times. Doing Titanic stuff this time.
would love to hear about it.
BTW the first cruise I was upgraded from a 9B to a 5B. DCL called me a week before leaving. I told her I was doing the B2B with the Cruise to Nowhere and had the same room for both so she upgraded both. Just a little pixie dust.

This is our first cruise from NYC and we can't wait. It will be a whole new experience...sailing past so much history. My Grandfather and his sister immigrated through Ellis Island at the turn of the century as teenagers...fascinating. I'm sure we will be up on deck as we arrive back in port also.

I grew up in Bayonne NJ. All 8 of my and Tom's grandparents immigrated through Ellis Island, and many of their names are on the commemorative walls! Sailing out of NY harbor, past the Statue of Liberty was definitely part of the reason I booked this cruise.

I anticipate an early rise on debarkation day as well!

Are any members from the Lancaster/Berks county PA areas going on the member cruise?

Tinked ...do you remember if there were a lot of parking spots available? There are other cruises going out on Saturday and Sunday so I'm a little worried that there may not be enough spaces. What time did you arrive at the port? I'm wondering if we can sit in line early while we are waiting for the parking to open?

Would love to hear how the weather was for you cruising to Canada in the Fall. I know for the port we need to dress in layers, but how about the ship? I'm already thinking about what to pack...

Also out of (northern) NJ and had grandparents come through Ellis Island, so really looking forward to the beautiful views of the harbor.

Lots of us are looking at a connection to our roots! I really am glad about the itinerary!

Hi everyone. The Local Candy/Snack exchange uses Fish Extenders to pass out local treats. We've gotten cheese straws from Mississippi and flavored popcorn and other non candy things in the past. I keep the groups under 12, for instance last Lear we had 32 participants, 4 groups of 8. Examples of candy has been salt water taffy from NJ and Utah, potato shaped candies from Idaho, chocolate covered berry candies from the Glacier NP area and Hershey chocolates. It is always fun to come back to your room and find a sweet treat!

If you are interested in the Candy/Snack Exchange please let me know! If you have not sent me your info please do so here, or in a conversation with me. Tell how many people are in your cabin, number of adults, children, if there are any allergies.

great! We have a PAT at 11:30 so I'm working out logistics. Did you park at the port? I remember reading parking was on the rooftop with a bag drop off on a lower level but it was confusing to figure out. Can you drive straight up to the roof and walk down with your bags? Also the spaces on the roof seemed limited. Was there ample parking?

oh and what did you guys do in Halifax?

The bag drop off and park isn't all that confusing. I imagine you can take the elevator down with the bags though, but if you have a lot it's easier just to drop them off.

Ellis Island wasn't open in 2000 :D
