September 22nd 4 day wonder

Scottie:
Did Meghan start kindergarden yet? How does she like it? Billy is finding that 1st grade is a whole different Ball Game than Kindergarden....it's alot more work!

Sonya-

She has her first official day on Friday (we go with her on weds.) Then the first official week would start the Tuesday after Labor Day. She is really looking forward to school, except for waking up!! I am happy to hear Billy is enjoying school!

Scottie, I bet mine show up tomorrow since I'll be out of town! LOL I think you and I are the only ones that have gone thru DVC so let me know when you receive yours.

WorknFires
I guess I will just need to take the week off of work to wait for the FedEx truck!!

We're back from our trip. Now my two year old son (Ethen) is sick. We were at the walk in clinic at the hospital from 9-11:30 last night. Which is a 30 min drive from our house. So I got in bed very late. I think I'm trying to get it too. Just hope Kelsey and my husband do not get it. We all know they are worse than the kids when they are sick.
I was wondering if you get the braids somewhere in Nassau or on the ship? If in Nassau where?
On the snorkeling trail in Castaway Cay do you need to be a really good swimmer? 30 min in water you can't touch in is making me nervous. I am a descent swimmer but that is a long time. Do most people where lifejackets?
Jennifer

Im doing the cruise doc dance!! I came home for lunch and there they were in the door!!

Scottie-:p I'm glad you finally got your docs.
I hope my mother-in-law's gets here soon.

Jennifer

My mother-in-law just called Fed-Ex tried to deliver her docs today, but she wasn't home. She'll have them tommorow.:jester:

The contract part in the back of the packet is VERY interesting...I read every word of it today, and dont feel very secure now :)!!

Does anyone who has been on the cruise before have any advice about where to get braids? Or the snorkeling Questions I asked before.

Jeleann:
From what I understand, braiding is not done on the ship for the 3 or 4 day cruises, only the 7 day cruises. They do do it at Castaway Cay. No reservations required, just show up. We are thinking about having it done in Nassau. We'll wander around and check it out.

As far as snorkeling at CC, I didn't do this last time but DH and DD did it. Vests are required. They are not actually life jackets but they keep you afloat. No, you don't need any fantastic swimming skills but you should have reasonable swim skills and be comfortable in the water.

Our family is passing around a horrendous 3 day summer cold. Just a cold but major sneezing, watery eyes and general yuckiness. I've had it and DH and DD are working on it now. DS remains healthy...time will tell. What was wrong with your son?

I read a trip report today in which the person said DCL has a SEGWAY Human Transporter (a two wheeled people mover thing...you can see it at www.segway.com) onboard. And they allowed people to try it out for a nominal fee! These aren’t even for sale to the general public yet!! I sure hope they will still be offering this when we cruise; I have been dying to try a SEGWAY out since I saw it on the national news several months ago.

Sonya- He has been running a low grade fever since Sat. afternoon off and on. Monday he got an awful cough and his tongue has the doctor called them ulcers (4 big raw spots ), his tonsils are swollen with puss pockets on both sides. And his fever is now around 102. The doctor said it is a viral infection, because they tested for strep and it was negative. They gave him no antibiotic. Told me to mix equal parts of liquid benadrill and mallox. He takes this every six hours. (mallox is to coat the ulcers in his mouth) He hasn't eaten anything since yesterday at breakfast because it hurts to bad. Even Jello and pudding. I'm just trying to keep his fever down and him hydrated in between naps becauce the benadrill knocks him out.
If he is not better by tommorow afternoon I'm taking him back to the doctor. He looks awful and his cough and tonsils look the same as they did yesterday.:(
Luckly Kelsey and my husband hasn't gotten it (the doctor said it was very contagious) . I don't think I have I'm hoping mine is just sinus or maybe something like what yall had sounds similar.

I hope your family get over your colds soon!!!!!
I guess better to get it now than a few weeks from now!

Scottie- How much is the fee? They look really neat, my husband would probably have one special ordered though before we got off the ship. So I had better stir him clear of the any demostrations!;)

Sonya-Are you just going to walk around at Nassau til you find a place that does hair braiding or do you know of you already?

Scottie- I that is not to bad. Unless we end up having to buy one. I bet they will cost a lot have you heard? can you ride it anywhere you want or do they have a certain part of the ship set aside?

Jennifer

I’m not sure what the cost is for one to buy, as they are not for sale yet to John Q. Public. I would venture to guess about $1000-$3000, though I may be way off! They are really trying to push this as the next way to travel short distances to work etc. With govt. agencies and other big businesses already placing orders! I think they had a small area sectioned off to test them onboard. I don’t know if they are offering this on future cruises (like ours on 9/22) but I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

Scottie-WOW that is even more than what I was guessing. I hope that are on the ship too, because for that price we will not be getting on. Are they battery powered or do they run off of a fuel?

I have read on some of the other threads that the snorkeling at cc isn't really that good and they wished they hadn't of done it? Does anyone have advice? Would it be better to Snorkel in Freeport?

My daughter has woke up this morning running a fever and sounds like a old person who has smoked all their life. Crosssing my fingers that my husband doesn't get sick too.

Jennifer

Jeleann: From what I understand if you want braiding done in Nassau, you just walk off the ship and there is some sort of area right nearby called "braiding pavilion" where all of the braiders congregate.

I'm wondering if this is also done in Freeport. Does anyone know?
