September 22-25, 2011 Disney Dream Cruise

The Dream is getting closer and closer to reality:woohoo:, I just registered Evan for the Oceaneers club, and I think we are going to skip the excursions and just relax and take in the ship and Castaway Cay. I think I may need to add on one of the picture packages. I am so excited I just booked my next cruise for 2012:yay:. We will be sailing on the Liberty of the Seas, no Mickey ship next:sad1: year unless the prices get better. Evan is excited he calls the Liberty of the Seas Shrek’s ship. I don’t know if you guys are aware but RCCL has made some major upgrades on the Liberty of the Seas and Freedom of the Seas. It won’t be Disney but the ship does have the DreamWorks Character Breakfast, meet and greets, Character Parades, and a 3D movie theater and most of all the price is right. I hope everyone enjoys this weekend!

My favorite is Cinderella! That was the only VHS I owned as a child and watched it all the time! My kids knew the songs before they even watched the movie since I sing it all the time! My girls love Ariel and Jasmine! I may have to buy a autograph book for myself princess:

I agree with you about the prices for 2012, but I will have to say that with the rebooking discount, shipboard credit (both through Disney and Dreams Unlimited with the transfer), it makes it a bit more doable. We booked the Fantasy for 2012 when we cruised, and, with the discount and shipboard credits, we ended up paying about $500 more to cruise with Disney than with Carnival (which was our other option). Still a significant price difference but, again, a bit easier to swallow than we we first did a straight price-to-price comparision. However, if prices keep increasing, we'll soon be priced out of DCL - - 2012 may very well be our last hurrah with DCL (but I'm hoping that prices do settle a bit as the "newness" of the ships wear off). We'll see...

I think that Disney is a great cruise line, but with all the specials that RCCL and Carnival are offering I am looking into other options. I just got a quote on Carnival’s Dream 7 night Western Caribbean itinerary for November 2011 the cost is less than 1000 bucks for the both of us. Evan and I came close to canceling Disney Dream but I just couldn’t do it. I looked into DCL for next year but the prices on the Fantasy are scary high:eek::scared1: for the two of us. I got a great deal for Thanksgiving next year on RCCL so I booked it. I have cruised with Carnival but that was years ago, I think that I am going to give them another try on one of their newer ships. I just can’t believe the prices that I have seen on their newer ships even the Breeze; the one that they are building now is offering some great prices! Which Carnival ship were you considering?

Hello to everyone it’s a rainy night in Georgia but I just completed my DCL online check in so that brightened up my night:banana: well I hope everyone has a great week!

We were looking at the ship that cruised out of Port Canaveral for the 7 night cruises (the Dream, maybe?). Actually, I just repriced it again on the website, and I was totally wrong about the price difference. It is a little over a thousand dollars difference, even factoring in the discount and stateboard credits. YIKES! :scared1: Now I'm going to have to tell DH and we'll have a tough decision to make...

We are keeping this cruise because it wasn't too bad a price when we booked almost a year ago. That being said, based on what I am seeing and what everyone is saying, we may not be able to afford to do it again. We may have to be confined to land for our disney fix, and if we cruise, go another route. Even with the relatively good price I feel we got on disney, I could do 7 nights on the Carnival Dream, with a balcony instead of an outside stateroom for on $700-800 more.

All that being said... we plan to REALLY enjoy this cruise. I told my boss, if they were to schedule things on the ship 24 hours a day, we might not sleep. :rotfl::rotfl: I intend to make sure we get our money's worth.

A week from this Friday, I finally get to book some excursions.:banana::banana:

The only reason we have cruised on DCL so many times has been 2 different things.
- booking a cruise the day that the new itineraries come out to get the best price OR
- FL resident rates

We booked a 7-night on the Fantasy for May '12, but only because we get out of school a few weeks before most, so the prices weren't as bad as those a few weeks later and I booked it a long time ago. But, I'm not sure how many times we'll be sailing on the Dream/Fantasy now, because they're so new that they won't be offering any of those FL resident rates that make it so easy to book another vacation!

Good Morning to EVERYONE on our thread!

OMGosh - I was SO busy yesterday with my oldest daughter yesterday that I forgot the countdown. So here it is (a day late)...
12 Weeks until Sailaway!!!

Question of the week:

Is this your first Disney cruise or are you a DCL veteran? Have you cruised before, just not on Disney, or are you new to cruising all-together?

I guess that you could say that we're DCL veterans. We've sailed 7 times on DCL - 3 on the Magic and 4 on the Wonder.

We had never cruised before and actually my DH wasn't so sure that he wanted to be confined to a cruise ship. But, we love all things Disney, so we decided when my oldest DD was 2 that we'd take the plunge. And we booked a 7-night cruise. (Not sure that was the smartest choice, just in case we didn't like it, we were stuck for 7 days) But, we fell in love with cruising!

We didn't cruise again until for several years, but our next adventure was a DVC member cruise in 2005. We did the member cruise again in 2006 and met up again with lots of friends that we made in '05 and I'm still very good friends with some of those DCL DVCers. We stopped doing the member cruise when they started getting more $$$ and less perks.

We are FL residents, so we've been able to take advantage of a few 4 & 7 night cruises at deep discounts!! We even splurged one year and celebrated our 10th anniversary (12/19/08) on a 7-night Christmas cruise. That one I booked the first day it was available, knowing that it was a premium cruise, but it was worth it!!

We've never cruised any other cruiseline, but I'm sure that we will in the future! But, I think that I'll always love DCL!!

So, what's your cruise story??

This will be our first time sailing DCL. I have sailed Carnival 2x and the rest of my family has sailed Carnival 1x. We are really hoping to see major DCL magic. :goodvibes:goodvibes

This will be my 3rd disney cruise and my 5th cruise all together. And it looks like we will be booking a cruise while we are on this one my whole family is going on the Sept 20th,2012 dream cruise so we are going too I can't wait for that one either it will be my little 7 year old brothers first cruise :cool1:

This will be our family's first cruise! We figured what better way to try cruising than with Disney....cant wait!! yay!
