September 22, 2012 Fantasy Eastern "From Fantasyland to the Fantasy"

So I am in a planning frenzy the last few days! Can ya tell?:rotfl:

Today's question is- are any of you planning on going to the Dis Welcome Center before the cruise, and if so...when?

We are definitely doing to drop by, I guess I had assumed we would do it on Friday but I am wondering if Saturday in the morning before the cruise would be better. Just curious if anyone else had it in their plans. :goodvibes

(And has anyone already been there? I know it has only been open a little over a month so chances aren't likely but....)

And finally...a reminder:

Just three (3) More days to sign up for the Fish Extender List! If you've been thinking about it- don't wait! Sign up now! :thumbsup2

The main FE list will close on 7/22/12! If you want to sign up send me a PM!

I didn't know about the 25% off until i went to the websight. I got a mickey mouse suitecase and saved $47.25. That savings will pay for my palo dinner and brunch. If i don't get my minnie mouse dress done then i will make a tshirt with the cruise logo. By the way dose any one know othere than michaeal's to get the magntic paper? wall mart dosen't have it eaither. On sunday it will be two months unil the fantasy. The weather here in washington state has been nuts:sad: last week the weather was warm and today we are having thunder and lighting. So looking foward to meeting every one. Just watting for the final count so that i can finish my FEs. I'm thinking about shipping my FE's to my hotel. my dog Bonnie hurt her foot the other day. She sleems better today. The muggy weather isn't helping . See ya real soonpixiedust:pixiedust:

I've never even heard of this! How sad is that? Where is this located? Thanks!

It's not sad! It's really new and there isn't a lot of info out there about it yet.

The Disboards.com Welcome Center is located near the port in Port Canaveral. it is basically being billed as a "concierge lounge" of sorts- a place you can come visit before your cruise, hang out and say "hi" - it is staffed by members of the Dis Unplugged Podcast Team and the Owners of the Dis. Basically it is a small storefront tastefully decorated with tables and chairs, TV, XBox, Free WI-FI, they have chargers for phones and computers so you can plug in and juice up if needed. I believe I heard they offer free beverages (coffee, etc.) and if you are a Dreams Unlimited Travel customer you get a little gift for stopping by. It is not just for DU customers though, it is for anyone on the Dis!

They have a facebook page with pictures and info here:

https://www.facebook.com/DISWelcomeCenter

And the info page telling all about it can be found here:

http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/welcome-center.htm

I'm not quite sure yet when we will be stopping by. Probably Friday sometime. Or maybe Saturday morning before the cruise. If some of us decide to go at the same time we could have a mini-meet there! That would be fun! :thumbsup2

Ha ha ha ha! Jen...write that down. I think he may have just admitted you were right! ;)

LOL Printed out and stored away for future reference! HAHA!:rotfl2:

On another note, since I know you guys have girls, and others on the cruise as well...I don't want to shell out the massive bucks for the princess dress on the fantasy at BBB. However, I am having a hard time finding princess costumes that aren't a fortune to bring along! I honestly thought that my oldest would protest...she tries to act like she has outgrown a lot of that stuff...but alas...she wants to be a princess too!

:) I know what you mean. If you have to deal with weight and extra baggage fees, it's probably worth it just to pay the extra for the dress(es) at BBB. But then you still have to get it/them home. We just bought Sarah's dress today- from the Disney store online. It was $41 shipped so a good deal IMO.

Savannah too is getting towards the older end of the tween age and though she says she doesn't want to do it right now, I can totally see her changing her mind once onboard. I'm hoping she doesn't- it sure isn't written into the budget! LOL ;)

I have plans for matching t-shirts - I was contemplating making mickey head (on the back) tie-dye & with the cruise logo on the shirt pocket.

However, I really like the shape of your shirt with the gathering at the chest. Where did you find a plain white one like that? I could seriously go for a tie-dye shirt like that!

Your shirts sound awesome!

The twist-front shirt came from Dharma Trading Co where I buy my dye.

It was a little tricky not doing the Mickey's in the center but it did come out well!! Doing it the way you describe- on the back of the shirt, you won't have any trouble.

Also the shirt is very thin (which I like- esp. in FL in September! ;)) and runs a bit small- especially through the belly. I'm no Twiggy by any means though, especially in the mid-section- but it was tight across the stomach on me. I'd say otherwise the shirt fit true to size though. :thumbsup2

So I'm hoping to do t-shirts with the logo for me and my mom. Never actually did them myself. Ordered the double dip ones on line and ordered our WBTA as part of a large group.

Aeesome Melodie! The iron on transfers are pretty easy! :thumbsup2 I buy them from Amy_Mickey (aka M_I_C_K_E_Y) on the Creative Designs board and they were great quality! I would think the Avery ones from Walmart or Target would work fine too though. Last time we just grabbed plain shirts from Target! I'm sure we'll probably do the same again this time! :goodvibes

I hope that i don't spill anything how embrassing if i do.

Now that the FE list is finalized, I've had some time to play with the data.
105 people - 45 kids & 60 adults! (I assumed anyone participating in the FE but didn't list an age is an adult)

We have lots of little pprincess:
30 girls under 18 years old
15 boys under 18 years old

I'm not an over planner - I don't go to meetings! :rotfl2:

However, to help deliver FEs I've made (copied/cut/paste) pictures of the staterooms by deck - organized by forward, midship, and aft. I've read that's easier than trying to do the whole length at once since you can't walk the whole length of each deck. I've also made blanks if you want to circle the staterooms you own way.

These have the known stateroom participants outlined in lime green. I'll update the images as the GTYs get assigned.

forward 9, 10, 11, and 12

forward 5, 6, 7, and 8

midship 7, 8, 9, and 10

midship 2 and 6

aft 8, 9, and 10

aft 5, 6, and 7

THANK YOU! A planner after my own heart. :goodvibes

I haven't looked at these in detail....how many rooms do we have in the FE? Last I had checked it was around 30ish. I love the other breakdowns, so thank you!

So excited to be taking our first disney cruise 2 months from today! Hope to see some of you! We have 4 girls ages 8, 5,5, and 5! Have not gotten our room assignment yet VGT 2 rooms! looking forward to reading this board once we get closer :)

Welcome Adela. You have me beat by one kid. I have an 8 year old daughter and twins boys almost 5. Lots of multiples on the cruise.

Hey gang!

Well today is the final day to sign up for the FE!

Jen has to make a couple of changes to the list so please don't print it out or save anything yet.

Also Sebby, you must of had an older list, it's been updated. There are rooms that are different from the first couple of versions of the list. Please refer to the most updated list... For instance our room was mistakenly put down as a different room number in an older version, but it was corrected quite a while ago. So there is not anyone in 7190 from our FE list. There were a couple of other room changes too. Plus she has to add at least one that is sitting in her pm box and there were a couple on the fence that said they would get back to her today.... But thanks for the effort!!!:goodvibes

So lets get this deadline over with and hang tight! Jen is already working on map that will make it easy for everyone!!! It will be completely updated and provided with easy download on google docs. It will also be available in post one. There is still a lot more information to come out with the FE, such as what to do if your room assignment gets changed at the last second. This happens quite a bit and we have a plan in place. So stay tuned!
:thumbsup2

There are always a ton of multiples everywhere we go! LOL I am glad there are other 8 year old girls that can relate to the agony of being older sib to multiples... my OD loves to meet new friends! we are from Ohio so it will be a long trip since we always drive everywhere. We just booked a few days ago so hopefully the time comes quick!

Welcome! I've added you to the roll call. Make sure you take the time to check out post one. There is a lot of info on what we are doing as a group such as our Fish Extender gift exchange (the sign up deadline for that is today) and our Dis meet which is day one at 3 pm.:cool2:

Do you think that we will have a final list by Monday? I'm have some of my FE's printed and i need the findal count. The last few days i've been pruchasing gifts for the little kids. Girls sure are easer to get thing for. I still haven't located any disney style lunch bags. I'll have to check Target. I may just have to get plain bags and put stickers on them. Only two months to go. See ya real soon

I can't believe that our cruise is two months away! With school starting again in a month, the time is really going to fly!

I love everyone's ideas/plans for their matching shirts. We aren't going to have matching shirts, but I can't wait to see everyone else's. They are going to look so good.

Slowly finishing up my FE stuff. The ones that I have finished are labeled and organized into bags according to deck. Waiting for the finalized list so that I can figure out what I still need. Thanks Jen for all your hard work!

Is anyone having things dropped off to guest services for the characters to sign? We did photo mats for each of our girls on our Magic cruise and absolutely love them! One has a picture of Grace with Belle and the other a picture of Hannah with Chip and Dale. They are hanging in their rooms and it's one of my favorite mementos from that cruise. This time, I am doing the 9" Vinylmations. I have been trying to find them for a decent price online and had trouble finding them for under $40 each. I happened to find a red one and pink one the other day for $25 each. I received them in the mail yesterday and they look awesome! I can't wait to get them signed for the girls. But right now, they are packed away, waiting for our trip :)

You are so funny! Have you seen this thread:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2956825&highlight=overplanners

I also am an overplanner...well, maybe not so much of an overplanner, but more of an over-organizer! I think I do it for my own benefit though. I like to know what to expect and what I want to do. I don't like surprises! It helps make my life easier when it comes to taking trips, that's for sure. I don't plan so much that every minute of every day is typed out and scheduled, because that would drive my family crazy!

I have our FE spreadsheet reorganized into 2 lists. One has all the participants divided up by deck and my other has all the participants divided up into age group and gender. Makes it easy for buying/making FE gifts. I put all my finished FE gifts into bags labeled for a specific deck. I deliver a different deck each day on the cruise. For instance - Monday, I will grab my list of deck 2, my map of the highlighted rooms, and my bag with deck 2 FE gifts and off I go!

I also have packing lists, documents, hotel ressies, Park n Cruise ressie, itineraries, and FE info all in my 3 ring binder. When I am ready to do some research/planning, I grab my binder. :)

Jen-(nenner1) can I just say "YOU ROCK!!!" love the organization! I love doing the FE and DD thinks it is Christmas on the cruise...thank you for all your hard work(maybe you have earned an extra little gift:goodvibes).
