September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Kim I have one other tip, if any of you are going to get new undies before the cruise, just take a few pair. Take a lot of the old ones that you are going to throw away, and wear them. Toss them after you are through wearing them in the trash, and that way you have more room in your suitcases.:lmao: Mike

That is the funniest thing I ever heard!!!:rotfl2: Is it crazy that I started mentally going through my head thinking about which ones I could throw away??:rotfl: Too funny!

Now I can't wait for my pal mickey to get here so I can play with it!!! lol

Hi Everyone. I just wanted to tell you that I just canceled my cruise :( I had an OB appointment today and everything looks good. I'm just starting my second trimester :) I hope you all are doing well. Have a wonderful time on the cruise and think about me! Come back and post about how it was!

Melody

Marsha- I bid on a pal mickey and won!!!! So it looks like we wil be joining you in the fun! :cool1: I can't wait to get him and play with him, I think the kids are going to have a blast with him at The World, we are going there for 3 days before we get on the ship! Gosh I am soooo excited I can hardly stand it!:woohoo: I think I am going to have to start looking for some other little outfits for him now lol.

:yay:

Just think... with Mike's tip, you'll be saving for your vacation undies NOW !:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Ann popcorn::

Sorry that you had to cancel Melody. We are all happy that the end result is a little bundle of hope and Joy. Just think, when your tummy gets larger, you won't have to worry about what color your toenails are painted. You won't be able to see them:lmao: :rotfl2: :hippie: Mike

Hey Melody!

Whilst I'm sorry you cancelled the cruise, that is such wonderful, magical news about your baby! Just think how fab it'll be in a few years time when you introduce your little one to DCL and WDW...

Karen I saw an old English tradition on the news yesterday. It was the great Glouster cheese roll. At the top of a steep hill, they rolled an 8 pound wheel of Glouster cheese down the hill. People went running after it. Several broken bones and bruises later, the prize was claimed. The cheese.:rotfl2: They have been doing this for hundreds of years. Mike

Cheese-rolling?! Sounds the sort of nuts thing they'd do in the West Country, bless 'em...

So how many days is it till we raise a glass on Deck 9? According to my ressie with Dreams Unlimited, it's 114 days! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hi Everyone! I have been reading, but haven't posted anything in a while!! Just wanted to join the celebration of 114 DAYS!!! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Mike, I can't thank you enough for ALL your great tips!!! I agree - if they change the itinerary, we'll figure it out when we get there :) I like your idea about the undies!!! :rotfl: I actually have a question about making room in the luggage ... I know it is two bags per person when you check IN, but are you allowed to have more when you leave? I was reading the cruise packet about quantities of things and customs declarations -- if I do a LOT of shopping, where will I put everything?? :confused3

Karen, Ann, Eva - you're all ahead of me on shopping I think!! I have nice dresses, but have NO CLUE what I'm going to wear most of the time

My two sisters and one brother-in-law were in town last week from Texas, and Saturday they and most of our kids came by for a BBQ - it was great to see them all, and also great to be alone with DH both Sunday AND Monday (Memorial Day)

For the rest of the summer, we're taking very little time off from work - hoarding it for the long September-October vacation (Cruise plus a WEEK at OKW afterwards!). July 4th will be a mid-week break, and we're taking August 10 to go to a resort in West Virginia Friday-Sunday to celebrate our anniversary (on the 9th). Labor Day will be another long weekend (probably spent PACKING), and then we'll practically BE THERE -- HOORAY!!

Here's a new signature picture of DH and me at DGD's first birthday party last month -- before I got sick :sad2: Hope everyone has a great week!

Hello there, This will be our first cruise (Dis. or otherwise):yay:
We are a DW, a DD and a DD(11 yrs)
Looking forward to the ports as well. We are hurricane season travellers always. (We're tougher than most)
See you there!:woohoo:

We are new to crusing and are looking forword to the ports too.:yay:
We always travel in hurricane season!!
Lots of research to be done though.:surfweb:
See yu there;
DW, DD and DD (11yrs)

Welcome aboard to our newest cruisers. Glad to have you with us. A look at my signature tells you that we also are September and October cruisers.

Penny hope that you are feeling better, and it is good to see you posting again. Yes you can have more than two bags leaving. Take a collapse able duffel bag, or place a smaller suitcase inside of a larger one. Try to get the inner suitcase to fit into the edges of the larger one. Pack your stuff in the inner bag, and then you will have another bag for stuff. Mike

PS. Throw away undies or nickers will give you some more room. It works:banana: If you are too embarrassed to throw them in your trash, take them up to deck nine and casually get rid of them on a walk by drop off in one of the large trash cans.:rotfl:

Ask all the questions you want we may be able to answer them.:thumbsup2

WELCOME again Realfam

Well Im all done... I think.:lmao: New ship wear...board shorts and a t-shirt, possible swim suit under. Heck I wear that all the time at home too!

I HAD to buy another piece of luggage while on the Panama Repo ! At the airport cost another $25.oo and $25.oo for over weight!:scared1:
What can I say... we had FUN!!!
Mike's tip is great ... we try to do that often, dont always do it... but it does work.

Ann

Good tips!! We took a duffel bag inside our suitcase last time and we had the perfect amount of space for goodies!!!! :goodvibes However I think we will need to bring a bigger one this time as I am already making mental notes on things I want to get!:woohoo:

Welcome aboard, Realfam! Its our first cruise too, and we've learned SO MUCH right here! :surfweb: You're in good company - don't hesitate to ask questions - the experienced cruisers are GREAT with tips and hints!

Mike, you are SO FUNNY  -- but I can't think of one woman who will willingly admit that the addition or subtraction of her own dainty little unmentionables could possibly make any difference in the luggage volume!

Thanks everyone for your prompt replies -- I have been known to shop so much at WDW that we needed to buy another piece of luggage there to take everything home again :rolleyes1 I'll see if one of those will fit inside one of my other ones - then I'll be all set :thumbsup2 - and since we're driving, I don't have to worry about over-weight charges!

The Tide on the go pens are great for cleaning up drips on tee shirts and other articles of clothing. As we older people are eating, sometimes we need to wear a bib like our babies.:rotfl: Also don't forget the can of air freshener. It makes a difference in the air quality in the cabin.

Found a great link yesterday for port webcams and ship webcams. http://www.cruisecal.com/dnn3/Webcams/tabid/68/Default.aspx Mike

:welcome: realfam! If you find a post by Brady961, you will see a link in her signature that goes to a website that she created for the cruise. There is a page that lists all the characters, oh I mean people, that are going on the September 22 cruise. If you would like to add your name send her a quick pm or post here with your info and she will add you. Be sure to ask any questions you might have. A number of people on this thread have cruised with DCL before.

Penny, Your statement is oh so true. I don't think that I am ready to admit that a dozen pairs of panties will automatically cost me $25 in over weight fees! :lmao: Oh wait, we're driving and Steve is a licensed pack mule. So I guess I can pack whatever I want! :thumbsup2

I can't believe we will be heading out the door for our drive down exactly 16 weeks from today! Yikes! I really haven't bought a single piece of clothes yet. I still have 15 pounds to take off. I may have to just go out and buy everything a size small and pray it will fit! :scared:
