September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

I can't believe you all don't like or LOVE wearing the life vests...That's my FAVORITE part of the WHOLE cruise. :lmao: :lmao: Just kidding. But you do have to admit it is a nice thing knowing as you don the orange vest that the ship is very close to sailing away:thumbsup2

Marsha...that's GREAT news about your friend comming along.

After checking in here yesterday and hearing all the talk about the Travel Kits...I HAD to contact my TA and ask her if she knew anything about those and how I'd find out if one was sent. Anyways she got back to me today and said she'd contacted Disney to ask about it. I guess they said they'd already sent one out (didn't say when exactly)....but that they would send another one. That's just weird that they said they sent it but I never got it. Maybe my mailman has a thing for DCL. I did get my NEW...yep BRAND NEW Castaway club cards about a month ago. Which I think is also weird...that they'd send me 'new' ones...when I hear so many times of other disser not EVER getting theirs. Anyone else get new club cards???

I think we got our cards about a month ago. It's much cheaper looking then the old one. I like the credit card one.

I hate the life jackets. The ladies have to have a size 22 shoe to see her own feet! :rotfl2: You have to check your feet... you might have 2 different shoes on if something happens. Now who would want to get caught in a fashion faux pas ???:rotfl:

Oh, a friend that is going with me in about 20 days on the Wonder has decided to go with me in Sept WOO HOO.

She is also a Diser: luvalldisney. I hope to add her to the booking on Monday. She has cruised on DCL before...
That's great news, Marsha! :thumbsup2 :woohoo:  :cool1: :yay: :cheer2:

Hey Gang... I just won tickets to the opening to the new "Finding Nemo " ride at Disneyland! That's next Thursday ! Whoo Hoo !!!:cool1:
There is a Disneygod.:thumbsup2
Im sooooo excited:yay:
More brilliant Disney news!

NO! Have never received any! Oh well, hopefully they'll turn up one fine day... pixiedust:

Congratulations Ann on the tickets.:woohoo: :woohoo:

We received our castaway cay cards a month or so ago. First ones that we had ever gotten even though we had been on 6 Disney cruises.

Going to hospital today to seem my aunt. She had a pacemaker put in, and bypass surgery done.

Lawn needs cutting again:eek:

Way to go Marsha on your friend going with you this month, and maybe coming in September. Mike

totally off topic but FLORIDA has and is getting RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks to tropical storm barry, which is now tropical depression barry. But we got RAIN. !!!!!!!! So happy finally maybe some of the wild fires will get put out by mother nature.

Congrats Ann for the tickets, way cool!!!!!!!!!!

Hope all have a good weekend.

Hope your Aunt is doing OK, Mike. My MIL had heart surgery almost 2 years ago and, unlike most heart bypass patients, has never really recovered. Recently her symptoms started up again and we're really not sure of the prognosis... :sad2:

But on a more cheerful note, hope everyone's having a good weekend. :goodvibes Never thought I'd say this, but glad to hear Florida's enjoying some much needed rain, Marsha! The weather's lovely here and we've been enjoying the garden all day. And yes, our lawn needs mowing again...

My aunt was very tired today after all that she had been through. With time we hope that she recovers.

Going to see Pirates of the Caribbean #3 tomorrow. Kathy has some honey do's for me tomorrow after the movie. Mike

Going to see POC 3 sounds like alot of fun. Maybe I should gather my gang up and watch at least the 2nd one again...for just a recap then go see #3 tomarrow. We still have movie money left over from Christmas that we need to use up. :goodvibes

Hi All,

I am new to the thread, but have tried to read through some of the previous posts to get an idea of who each of you are. Looks like a fun group :thumbsup2

Here are our details:
Me (Kristi - 44):tinker:
DH (Kerry - 49):jester:

DS (Colton - 5)pirate:

DS (Seth - 4):goofy:
We have six older children :grouphug: (blended family) and 4 grandbabies, but they won't be joining us on this cruise. However, they will be with us on the 9/1/08 cruise and none of them have cruised before so we are very excited about that :cool1:

OK, back to the 9/22/07 cruise details:
We are currently booked in a Cat. 8 Guarantee and to be honest, I need a support group. I am really bad about booking one Cat. of cabin and obsessively upgrading and I don't mean for free. My DH would really like a verandah, but neither of us want to spend the extra $700. Our first cruise was in a Cat. 8 and we loved it, but we have sailed with a verandah since then. So, my plan is to wait and see what Cat. 8 cabin I get assigned and maybe by some rare chance, we will get an upgrade. If not, I am going to check into upgrading at the port, which I have done before on a 3 night. My goal is to spend a max of $500 to upgrade at the port. Do any of you have experience with upgrading at the port on a 7 night? If so, do you remember the cost? So let me summarize because I know this is confusing...your job is to keep me from upgrading before I get my first cabin assignment, which should be about 30 days before the cruise.

scrapperjill - Thanks for noticing my sail date on one of the other threads. I need help from you regarding excursions for the Western. I am so confused:confused: What do you recommend for a 4 and 5 year old?

Looking forward to meeting all of you :cool1:

:welcome: Kristi, Kerry, Colton and Seth!!!!
:cheer2: :cool1:  :yay: :dance3: :yay:  :cool1: :cheer2:

Good to have you onboard! :thumbsup2

Can't help you with the upgrading at the port support group, I'm afraid - I think Eva's the lady to ask about this. We were going to do that but I got more than a little jittery and before you could say "non-refundable deposit" had upgraded DH and I to a Cat. 3!!! Had to forfeit new (and much needed) sofas for that so I'm DEFINITELY not the best person to counsel you on that issue... :rolleyes1 :sad2:

As far as excursions are concerned, do you have a PassPorter guide? I've found mine invaluable as they give a clear overview of all excursions available at each port of call and a rating. Take a look here to get an idea if you don't already have one...

Gotta go - my burger's ready off the BBQ...

Looking forward to getting to know you over the remaining weeks!

thanks for the correction and more info. please double check to see if I have it correct.

that goes for all, if something is wrong, spelled wrong, wrong info etc... please let me know.

seems with a click of a button i fixed the problem in updating. well for at least tonight <G>

Thank you!

Meant to say, that sounds a fab cruise! :thumbsup2 Would have loved to do that one but unfortunately it clashes with DS's return to school for the Michaelmas term (important exam year) so we opted to book the August 2008 DCL Mexican Riviera cruise instead...

Welcome aboard Kristi and family. Glad to have you with us.

Karen we might do burgers on the grill after going to see Pirates of the Caribbean 3. Didn't take a fluid pill as the movie is almost 3 hours long. Drinking a coke (soda, pop, depending on what part of the US you are in) and a diuretic pill do not mix well so to speak.

Marsha, the place to get Key Lime pie in Key West is http://www.blondgiraffe.com/home.htm Mike

Mike, usually my attitude is "if a movie's longer than 90 minutes, they didn't try hard enough!" BUT I loved POTC3, didn't find the movie dragged at all and only needed one bathroom break despite a large Diet Pepsi... ;)

Welcome aboard. I have added you guys to our website. The link is in my signature: Magical Memory Tour 07

I have no idea about upgrading but hopefully someone will come along that does.

Hope you will join us for a quick hello DIS meet on the first day at 3p at Mickey's pool. We are hoping to get a group pic there too.

:dance3:

A Chatty bunch aren't we today!

WELCOME to Kristi and Family!

It's so much like BBQ weather I can't stand it!:thumbsup2
Like Dh says... nothing tastes better the charred flesh with BBQ sauce !:lmao:

Dont forget Mike... You HAVE to stay till the end of the movie... after the credits! It's real cool ending to the movie.
I found a friend on Thrusday (when we paddled) I told her she missed the real ending. She said that she had to go that night to see it.

And I hope your Aunt is doing better. What a tought surgery to go thru.:grouphug:
