September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

Hi guys! I'm back. DGD is doing great. I probably could have been on the boards this past weekend. But I had a house to get back into order and a ton of yard work to do, since it has warmed up here in Illinois. The past two nights DH and I have been relaxing out on the patio with a glass of wine after all our hard work.

It looks like everyone here has been pretty busy too. I only had a few pages to catch up on.

Congrats on the new car Mike! Please let us know how much you are enjoying it.

Penny, Paying off the cruise is a good feeling. We've been using the Disney Visa card too. But DH doesn't wait to pay off the balance to take advantage of the 6 months interest free. He has a fetish with having all his credit cards paid off at the end of each month. As a matter of fact, we have two Disney Visas. One for business and one for personal use. It helps us keep track of our expenses better. The personal one he pays off every Saturday on line. We use the card for everything. We even pay all our bills with it. Be careful if you do this, because you can only earn 750 reward dollars a year per card. Hence the two cards. :thumbsup2

Karen, Turning a garden room into a study sounds wonderful. Does the room have nice windows that look out into a garden? That would be better than my study. My study just has two windows that look at the neighbor's house. I guess that keeps me busy working. Nothing to look at out the window. Actually the DIS is what keeps me from work. It's a challenge to stay focused every day.

All those that are talking about getting lost on the ship. I sometimes have that problem when I am on my own walking around the ship. But DH is like a GPS system. He always seems to know where he is and how to get to the next destination. I just have one problem, I tend to wonder.

Well, everyone have a great day. I missed yesterday for the 5 month celebration, so I'll say it a day late:

Only 5 More Months!

Eva great news about DGD.

Karen congratulations on the study.

Under 5 months, how sweet is that:banana:

Did some yard work yesterday, and have the oldest grand daughter this morning till she goes to preschool. Have to pick her up this afternoon and think about what to fix for dinner. Mike

And don't go being funny and moving them around either!! Otherwise I will be trying to get into another person's room and that may not be good! :lmao:

How about a sign that says "Party Time! Free Booze! Just follow the arrows!" :cool1:

Eva, glad to have you back and very pleased that your DGD is doing so well! :thumbsup2

The garden room has a large bay window onto the patio with views of the garden beyond. It's such a cute room (one of the reasons we bought the house in the first place) so I can't wait for the furniture to arrive and to get some pictures on the walls. It'll motivate me to spruce up the patio too - the planting needs a little TLC out there so I have a great excuse to go to a garden centre for some inspiration...

I'm really feeling excited to be under that 5 month mark - I'm going on a shopping trip this week to look at what summer clothes are out there. I shall be keeping an eye out for a formal/VR outfit too - can't avoid it forever...

Eva, so glad your DGD is doing well! Thanks for the heads up about the limit on Disney Rewards - we're not even close to that, but if we start using it more, will keep that in mind:thumbsup2 We're also pretty rigid about paying everything off each month - but wanted the flexibility not to have to in case something else came up (like the plumbing repair in mid March and the roof repair in mid April!)

Karen, your garden room sounds heavenly!! :cloud9: I'm sure you'll enjoy it - sounds like an inspirational place to do some Disney-dreamin' too ;) I'm planning to do some cruise-clothes shopping in Florida next week :woohoo:

FOUR MONTHS and twenty-eight days to go

WHAT??? How in the world will I ever find my room if I can't put my name on it??? I'll be lost all week long. I hear those lounge chairs on deck 4 are comfy....If all else fails I could crash up there. Or keep my DH with me as well (hes like a GPS also):thumbsup2 I think I'll plan on packing my magnet anyways....just incase things change;) I know I have heard of past cruisers comming back and said they weren't allowed to but then the following cruise people have said they could. Maybe it depends on how your 'decorating' the door. You know...tape, goop, stickys....you know maybe there setting limits. I really don't see what having one magnet on the door does. I think you also have to realize that by putting things out on your door in the hall you do run the risk of things being taken, distroyed, messed with or end up MIA. Maybe DCL is tired hearing compliants related to door decorations ending up MIA or damaged. One way to stop the complaints would be to simply not allow door decor up.:sad2: Anyways...just an idea.

Great news on you DGD.

Marsha sounds like you've been thinking of all sorts of possable ways to get out and swim/snorkel. I hope your plan works. Not trying to burst any bubbles...but the first time we were at CC they would not allow us to take the big floats in the snorkle lagoon:confused: We thought they'd work perfect to allow our youngest dd to lay ontop and just put her head/mask inthe water to see all the sea life below. HOWEVER...last time we took (yes we packed them along with us) pool noodles that they did allow us to take... Go figure:rolleyes: Anyways those worked close to the same way...it allowed our dd to float more and not worry about swimming the whole time out there. It was also nice because we could spot her very easy. Anyways I hope one of your plans works perfectly for you. BTW GREAT news on the van...and the cooling vest.

Marsha - can't beleive DCL won't allow the door signs. Can you check with your contacts - who helped you out before the last cruise with your questions? Maybe Barbara?

There has to be a reason if DCL doesn't allow any longer.

DCL now ways that magnets are OK. Nothing with tape as it is destructive to the finish on the doors. Good to see that they changed their minds on this. :cool1:  Mike

I think they've done this a number of times before. After stopping or not allowing people to do it then slowly allowing only magnetics....before they know it they probably have tape and sticky gunk all over. Heck...I've even heard of people using duck tape to hang stuff in the staterooms as well as "tape" the curtians shut:confused3 I know there's no way in heck...I'd want duct tape stuck to my walls or furnishings at home so why in the world would one think it's okay to do on the ship????

Anyways I'm still packing my magnetics and hanging them up;) If it's not allowed I'm sure my CM will let me know. :thumbsup2

Hmm, I hadn't really thought too much about a door sign. Has anyone that sailed recently been told to take one down? I haven't read much of the main board lately. I think that it would be nice to put a 25th anniversary sign on the door. But I can see why DCL may be limiting or doing away with the practice. I have seen some doors where people have gotten a bit carried away with the number and size of the signs on their door. DCL may feel that it distracts from the decor and uniformity in certain areas of the ship. I guess we will just have to watch and see what happens.

Hey Guys!!! I have finally stumbled back onto the boards after a looooong break. I really don't know how I managed. :confused3 It's great to catch up though and read all the great posts.

I am getting soooo excited I can't hardly stand it! :yay: I told scrapperjill the other day that I have been working on my building up my stamina to get ready for the trip though by drinking a LOT of miami vices!!! :drinking1 Sooo come September I should be good to go. :cool1:

Can't wait to catch up with everyone between now and then & meet everyone that I haven't had the chance to yet. So for now Hello to all!

How about a sign that says "Party Time! Free Booze! Just follow the arrows!" :cool1:

OK, if I cannot find my room, that sign will be perfect! Heck, even if I can find my room, I am all for the Free Booze sign!! :cool1:

Hey everyone! Thanx for the warm welcome! :goodvibes

YAY!!! I am sooo glad she got them (postcards)! Sandi that was a really good idea having everyone from here send her some, that way she gets them from all over the place. You are so smart!

I'm going to have to get busy on that diet and exercise.

Go for it, Eva! :thumbsup2 Most energetic thing I have done the last couple of days is turn QVC on and off on the TV! I feel awful - like I'm going to get the flu or something with aching limbs, swollen glands and sore eyes. Very dull...

Kim, I love the photos in your sig! Very cool! :cool1:
