September 22, 2007 -- WESTERN

I think I posted this already about the navigator. in Jan they put the next day navigator on our bed each evening when turning beds down. So when we got back from dinner or returned to room for the night it was there.

That daily one has the activities/shows/character greetings etc... broken down in time for all day.

I do sorta wish you had the entire week for everything like show times, activity times, etc...... for me I probably would do better planning and not missing something. Seems getting it the night before I may overlook something, or like if something i wanted to do is offered only once or twice then I may not get to it only knowing night before.

Well, it sounds like a tasting could be a hit for some of us. Which one do you guys fancy? I think that any of them will be ok with us. I might have to drink some of DH's drinks if it is a Margarita or Martini tasting, but I don't mind. ;) He is not much into mixed drinks except a few fruity frozen ones. But he will give them a try...
Mmm, I would probably prefer the Margarita tasting - I know where I am with tequila! ;) Martinis, on the other hand, are a bit of an unknown quantity - I had one way back and didn't like it but my DD says they are lovely and that I really should try a few decent ones. DH wants to do the wine-tasting anyway so that's a definite but I can't imagine either of us will want to do the beer one - we're not beer drinkers. Tho' maybe that's a reason to go to a tasting..? :scratchin I guess I'm basically saying I'm happy to do them all!!!! :drinking1

...We never can wait for the waiter to come by. Once our glasses are empty it is time to hit the bar. We usually make pretty good friends with the bartender on each cruise.
An empty glass makes me anxious so I have to make friends with the barstaff... :rotfl:

Wow - I don't come to the boards for a day or two and everyone gets so chatty! My vote is for a 3:00 meet either by the Mickey or Goofy Pool also. We have always done it by the Mickey pool before and it seemed to be a good turnout. The first day is usually the day that everyone makes a point to attend the meet. This way, even if they don't get a chance to attend the other meetings, they do get a chance to meet & put a face to a name.

Kathy
If meeting by the Mickey/Goofy pool has worked for others in the past, then I'll vote for that.:goodvibes It'll be a novelty for me as I have never cruised with little kids so I don't remember even seeing these pools before... :thumbsup2

Ok according to our current list. there are 83 ppl on the list. 22 that have DIS user names. The rest are listed to someone user's name, meaning, family, friends, etc... then of course those are listed individually i.e. DH, or DW, or parents, or DD or DS, etc...

Oh and I didn't count Pal Mickey and Minnie in the 83 LOL
Wow that's quite a few! Looking forward to meeting you guys... :thumbsup2

Well, from the last Navigator they have 3 tasting on both Monday and Thursday. Here is how they appeared to run it:

Monday
2:00 - Wine Tasting in Sessions
2:00 - Margarita & Tequila Tasting in Diversions
4:00 - Martini Tasting in Sessions

Thursday
2:00 - Wine Tasting in Sessions
2:00 - Margarita & Tequila Tasting in Diversions
4:00 - Beer Tasting in Diversion

We will have to check with more recent Navigators once we get closer to the cruise. I hope they keep it the same. Then we can hit each of the events. All we have to do for the meet is too agree on which one. If it is beer or martinis, we may not have a choice on days. But if we choose wine or margaritas, we will have to decide on Monday or Thursday. That seems pretty easy. The margarita tasting might be nice. Since we are going to Mexico, it kind of fits the theme.

I already know we're not going to be doing the Thursday ones as that's the day of our Vow Renewal so we're pretty much tied up with that all afternoon as I also want fit in some Spa time and have my hair done princess: - goodness knows I'm going to need all the help I can get...

SO can I vote for the Monday Margarita tasting, please!? I'm sure DH can do without the wine tasting - he tastes enough as it is... :lmao:

Karen, I'll vote for that one too. By Thursday I may have had too many "tastings" and forget. :lmao: So that is a second vote for the Margarita tasting on Monday. The only reason that we will need to know ahead is so that everyone can get tickets at Guest Services the first day. I hear that these book up pretty fast. We will probably do the beer and martini one too. DH is quite the beer drinker and I like martinis. Not sure about the wine one. We did that on the last cruise. It will all depend what other activities they may have going on at the same time. Boy, if I do the margarita and martini tasting in the same day, I may have to take a nap before dinner. Luckily the show that night seems to be Golden Mickey's. If that is true, we will likely skip the show. Twice is enough for us.

I was going to suggest that to my DH, Eva, but wasn't sure if it would be too crazy! I guess you only get little tasters of the margaritas/martinis so how bad can it be?! Well, there's only one way to find out... :rolleyes1

Well Karen, we don't have to drink it all. Yeah right! :rotfl2:

I'll put in another vote for the Monday Margrita tasting.:) I don't know where I saw it...but I thought I read they limit the tastings to the first 15? Does that sound familuar to anyone else? I could have read something else...and in my mind just putting the two together....I wouldn't doubt that:goodvibes Or...you know what....maybe I'm thinking of the cost:rotfl: . Now that I think more about it....it may have been the other night when I was drinking a margrita and reading something else completly.:hippie:

Anywho.....Dose anyone know for sure if the Goofy pool is open on that first day (pre-sail-a-way party)? I'm leaning more towards the Mickey pool....just becuase I remember how CRAZY the goofy pool gets. But then again I'm thinking most of the kids listed are older....that may enjoy the goofy pool more. What's anyone else thinking?

Hi Everyone! There's been a lot of activity since my last post so I thought I better check in. I like the idea of meeting on the first day at 3:00 and having a drink. I think for the picture, having it taken looking down on us would be best so that everyone could be seen, or the stairs would probably work too. I'm pretty easygoing, so just tell me where and when and I'll be there.

Since you guys were talking about what you were going to be wearing.....I just ordered a customized polo shirt from Disney: http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...categoryId=16578&CMP=EMC-eml&att=20070307DSIH
If you use the code CELEBRATION it will save you 25%, but it ENDS TONIGHT! Also, you can use code SHIPFIVE to get flat rate $5 shipping. I ordered three adult ones (one for me, one for Mom and one for Granny) for my Disney vacation in December and it was only $61 total. You choose the size and color and character and you can add a name (up to 8 characters) in a color and writing (script or block) of your choice. Mine is pink with Cinderella and says Melody in hot pink. I plan to wear it on the first day of our cruise. You can get them in Men's, Women's and Children's sizes/colors.

Oh, as for meeting up for other events, I know we plan to do wine tasting and probably Martini and/or Margarita tastings. We also usually find ourselves in the lounge relaxing after dinner and shows late at night sometimes.

Ok, well I guess that's enough for now. Let me know if any of you order a shirt as well!

:lmao: It'll be a pleasure drinking with you, Sandi! :thumbsup2
No doubt they limit the attendance so we'll just have to make sure we get our requests in nice and early... ;)

I think that they do limit it by the seating in Sessions. But I'm pretty sure that $15 is the cost though. I know that the wine tasting we were at last time had a lot more than 15 attend. It sounds like everyone is leaning towards the Margarita tasting on Monday. Sounds pretty good to me!

OH! Count me in for Margarita's on Monday!!! Yummy!!:yay: We too made fast friends with the bartenders/servers on our last two cruises! He made sure to keep our glasses full!!

Well, just wanted to stop in and say Hi! before I head off to Las Vegas!! Talk to you all when I get back....

Ok... Im here ... somewhat...:thumbsup2

I just talked to a CM on the ship... She said that we could also think about using the Buena Vista Theater for the pic. We dont have to be seated all the way down towards the stage, but keep closer to the top.
Just an idea:rolleyes:

Marsha, Yes you are a "one":woohoo:

Have a fantastic time in Las Vegas! That's a place I definitely want to go to one day...

Hope everyone's having a good day! The weather is beautiful here in London - blue skies, a few white fluffy clouds and the sun is high in the sky - makes me think how wonderful (or should I say magical!?) it'll be on the cruise... :cloud9:

Later I'll be getting ready to go to a champagne supper at DS13's school - I wasn't going to go but Samuel's just text messaged me with the news that one of his close friends has been expelled so I want to find out if there's any truth to this story! I'm just horribly nosey... :rolleyes1

Finally, a question - what time do you guys tend to arrive at the Port? Last time DD and I used the DCL transfers from the BC and we seemed quite late in arriving. We're intending to get the 1st transfer from MCO this time and I think they arrive quite early. Is there any advantage in getting there early? Thanks for any info you can give me... :thumbsup2

The sun is shining here in Illinois today too. It is suppose to get up to 46 today. I guess that is better than the weather that we had just a couple weeks ago. I am really looking forward to the weekend. It is suppose to be in the low to mid 50's and sunny both days. I'm sure glad because I have a lot of yard to get done before everything starts to sprout and bud.

Today I am celebrating because I have been smoke free for 1 week. That is a big accomplishment for me. I have been trying to quit for months now and could never make it past a couple of days. I know that it is going to stick this time. I had quit for over 10 years and then started back up again about 4 years ago. :sad2: I now know that all it takes is one. So I just tell myself, "I choose not to smoke today. I'll worry about tomorrow, tomorrow." Plus, I have been really watching what I eat and exercising more and have lost 3 pounds over the past week too.

For a picture the theater could be a good option too. It might just be tougher for the people with kids to get everyone there. It sounds like the kids usually want to be in the pool that first day.

Good for you, Eva! :thumbsup2 I know it's not easy. A girlfriend of mine tried to give up smoking many times - she tried hypnosis, acupuncture, everything! In the end what worked for her was the day to day approach and in April she will have been smoke-free for a year...

3lbs is a good result too - I've been trying hard but I'm totally at a plateau stage so need to change something to start getting results again. I'm supposed to be starting the Couch to 5k running programme but I want to do it with DH and he hasn't been around so... Could I make any more excuses?! :rolleyes1

FWIW I think the photo should be as informal as possible - that way I should be able to hide behind someone as I hate having my pic taken... :scared1:
