September 2013 Watch

I have Free Dining booked for Sept that I booked last year on the Bounceback Offer in the room. We have done it this way for years. The difference this year was the the dates were not the same as they had been.

The brochure shows the following dates:
Moderates with DDP 8/18-9/13/13
Deluxe with DDP 8/18-9/26/13

This is the first time (we booked CSR) that we were not going to be able to work our stay with Food & Wine, where we like to use our Snack Credits. The Moderates offer ended 9/13. We booked to arrive the 11th. I didn't ask about Value because my family fits better in the moderate room. Wondering if they do come out with this FD offer to the public it will include the more limited dates for moderates.

That's interesting - we booked on a bounceback and were able to secure check in on 9/28 with free dining. We booked a value resort and received free quick service (which we upgraded to the DDP). I think that sets us up to hit the very beginning of the Food & Wine festival. It might be worth a call to see if you could do a different check in date and still keep the free dining.

We were at POR the middle of August 2012 and I called and they told us no Bounceback offer. Now I read that others were offered bounceback offers. Kind of upsetting.

My family of 6 is booked at POR Sept.8-16th with the DDP. Would love free dining, but we are going with the DDP regardless. My Cast Member, when I called to apply a room discount PIN code, a month or so ago, told me that "there would almost definitely be a better discount that you will want to swap the room discount for coming out by late April to early May." I can't see that it would be anything other that Free Dining, right?:cool1:

I would bet $$ that it'll be FD, and not just because I'm waiting on it too! We are booked from Sept 8-16-we'll go regardless of it, but oh my goodness, it will kill our budget w/out it!

Well, I am jumping on this band wagon. Have not booked yet, and got a Disney Visa app in the mail the other day. Got to fill that out.

We are also waiting for FD. Otherwise we could not afford this trip.
But I do have a question: According to mousesavers there were room only discounts and FD for some dates in 2010, 2011 and 2012. If Disney is offering both kind of discounts for the same travel dates can these two be combined or can you use just one of them?

You will have to do the math to see which would be a better discount. They only let you use one.

OK...starting to get very nervous. Thought I would price out a vacation using a TA that Mousesavers suggested because they advertised a fall special starting Sept 12th that included dining. She emailed me back stating if we booked with her, because we are a large group, she could get us a group rate, but if FD came out, we couldn't switch. I explained I was just pricing out options incase they don't have FD. She then responded saying she wouldn't count on FD this year at all because Disney is having no problems filling up rooms with the discounts they are offering right now! That really crushed my hopes of FD for our trip...possibly moving offsite now :(

Well....she could be just trying to get you to book with her. I wouldn't give up on free dining just yet. The place was a ghost town last Labor Day week.

I agree. Of course Disney is having no problem filling rooms with the discounts that are out now. It is BECAUSE there are discounts out. Since there have been no general public discounts out for September (only last year's bounceback and the room discount PIN), I fully expect there to be some type of discount coming by the end of next month. It may not be free dining, but it will have to be a pretty decent deal because that is hurricane season and schools are in session.

Don't forget September is the slowest time of year due to hurricane season and kids starting school. Discounts during this time has to be better than current ones or rooms will be empty. Free dining is a promo with a proven track record of working.

We got one as well, No Annual Fee, with a $200 Disney GC after spending $500 in the 1st three months.

I also applied for the Disney Visa yesterday. I applied for the premier card to get 2% back on purchases.

Would have liked to get the $200 gift card also, if I can ask, where did you see that offer?

Thanks

We are travelling to WDW for the first time this Sept and I have been looking at booking accommodation but not sure whether to wait for any specials. If I make a booking can I then use the discount (if there is one) to that booking or is it best just to wait off entirely until the specials come out. We are travelling from Aust so don't want to leave it too late and miss out...thanks

It's probably best to go ahead and book as soon as you can. When a discount comes out you can always just call back and apply the discount to your existing reservations.

It's Sept, and there are always discounts. So I expect there will be some kind of discount... either reduced room rates or FD... maybe tickets.

I hate that usually they start sending us all this FL Res discounts in the summer but I don't want to wait that long to book it the one time we're going to actually book a room!

I hope no one minds that I join this thread. We are booked for September 22nd through the 29th and I am hoping for a good discount. We can swing things without FD, but having it would be nice of course. If it's not offered, then were not doing the DP and we'll be paying out of pocket. I went ahead and booked with our TA and she'll add whatever discount is best once they are offered, but I'm getting a little impatient :scratchin Our TA did say that she wasn't betting on FD this September, so I haven't gotten my hopes up...regardless, were Disney bound in September :cool1:

I'm joining too because I'm really, really hoping for a discount of some sort for September!!

Our dates are 9/14 through 9/24, & we'd love free dining or some really good resort discount!

im booked too and just hoping for a discount! i paid on my vacation what it would cost with a discount, and just waiting to pay the rest to see what kind of discount is offered, if offered.
