September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Ok so I have a question for you all....... How much should I budget for spending $$ for my kiddos?? I'm thinking like one thing a day?? Unless its NOT a toy, like if they want say a fan from Japan or something...... thats a pretty... O and then a snowglobe each which is like $50ish...... so thats $700...... does that sound good, too much, not enough? maybe round it up to $1000 just to 'be safe'???

I don't know how many souvies DH and I will want... I think last time he got a few beers and a Vinylmation and a fedora w Jack Skellington on it..... LOL so maybe $150??

We gave each girl 50 dollars and told the older one( 17 years old & and job) she could bring as much money of her own as she wanted. Our younger daughter had already been saving her money for the last two years, birthday, christmas, tooth fairy..... she had $111 ! And they spent every last cent. We even broke down and gave them an extra 20.

In Sept, (in which DD nothings nothing about) We're just going to give her $50 again.

We upgraded today to CBR!! Yeah for that.

As far as everthing else we bring 1000.00for 10 days. But we do the QSDP so know need for tip money. We do have 2 TS meals planed so that is 200.00. MNSSHP tickets around 250.00. I also have to buy one water park pass for our youngest. These 2 things are our biggest expenses.

We always have more food then we need on the QSDP so no need for extra's there. My girls each have GC and money from birthday's and such. Last year I told them they could get something every other day and after 10 days still had $ left over. But some of the stuff the pick is really inexpensive for Disney. The like the smaller stuff animals. And we bought them things like a t-shirt and autograph books and pens. Plus we will each get them a build a dino and clothes so that is another 75.00 or so. I'm getting a Dooney bag but I'm getting A gc for my birthday for that one.

Plus tips for the ME driver and mousekeeping.

I know that I've asked this queston before but I had very little response....it's about ADR"s.......we really want to eat in HS or really close by...I have tried Mama Melrose and was disappointed and 50's isn't might type of food....but I have read so many awful things about Sci-Fi...we are on DDp and I like to use my credits to their full potential (like tutto italia and teppan edo!!!!) I don't even know what is close by to HS (we want to spend most of the evening there and not 1 1/2 communting back and forth) HELP!

We love Sci-Fi. I highly recommend giving it a try.

You could also walk or boat to the BW in about 15 minutes and eat at one of the many restaurants there. Our favorite is Big River Grille.

Momof2Disneyboys, I'm seeing red x's on some signatures and not on others. I want to see mine too!

I read a thread on here yesterday saying it would be fixed today, but I see it's still not.

My princess is here! She was born at 5:01 after one and a half pushes! She's 8 lbs 5 oz and 20 inches and a perfect doll. the only thing they had to do was break my water when I got to 9 cm, but other than that I did it on my own!

Did any of you September travelers book your flights with Jet Blue this morning?

I was up at 4 am and was very happy to see the fares were fairly reasonable

was able to snag fares of $122 down and $97 back for a total of $480.80 for both me and DH and our credits covered it plus I still have $96 left over.

I did pay OOP for the travel insurance JB offered it was cheaper than thru disney only $39 for both of us.

My kids save their money for their souvenirs. They save allowances, Christmas money, birthday money, report card money, etc. They have taken anywhere between $60-$200 each in the past. I think right around $100-$120 each is plenty. That is for toys, gadgets, books, pins, etc. We buy them their shirts, so they don't have to spend their money on that!

We upgraded today to CBR!! Yeah for that.

I think both of my girls want to do PL this year also. So that is also something I have to budget for.

For my dd's 4th bday next week I am getting her a gift card and telling her it is for BBB. My two oldest are getting PL for bday gifts. Sapphire already got it promised to her and Bastian wants it too. Clara is too little so she's not included this time.

Wow- we must be super frugal. We gave the kids each $15 gift cards last time and DS9 didn't spend a cent. We ended up spending his gift card and giving him the $15 to spend on Legos. DD7 would buy everything in sight, so we try to avoid letting her shop. We do buy each kid a pin of their choice. Our kids don't even ask for souvenirs, they know what the answer will be. If they want to spend their own money, they can, but they never do. I guess for us it's all about the experience, we'd rather save the money for future trips. Now I feel cheap!

Our must have gifts are:

-Snowglobes (one per park)
-Pins (2 mystery packs per day maximum! )
-A Potato Head box of parts (We plan to buy an actual potato head here at home)
-A D&B clutch for me

This with 7 nights worth of dining tips, mousekeeping tips, and random snacks/misc. items.

I'm guessing for a budget $20 for the potato parts, $150 for the 4 snowglobes, $100 on pins, $50 for my clutch, $15 for mousekeeping, $90 for collective dining tips that week... which all totals $425.

So our spending budget is $600 which means saving $100 a month. Not too shabby

Hi everyone! My youngest daughter and I will be there from Sept. 5-12th. We will be celebrating her 6th birthday. We are staying at POP from the 5th-8th, then on board the Disney Dream 8th-11th, and then a final night at WL on the 11th.

I don't want them thinking money just grows on trees & I don't want them putting to much into material stuff! And they know better then to ask for it. Our pastor said something the other day that let me be ok with being this way-- he said " meterial possessions have a shelf life, just like that mustang everyone wanted & pd big money for(well big money back then) it now sits on a junk pile somewhere! It had a shelf life!" But these memories u are making with ur kids don't. They will live on forever. Taking home all the junk--which will soon get tossed aside isn't the memories! I think you are great for not getting caught up in the merchandise. Have a great time on ur trip and make memories!

Agree with all the frugal mommies! We're a Dave Ramsey family, so we're baby-steppin' it over here. I love that you can make Disney as inexpensive or expensive as you want. For us, it's not a relaxing vacation if it follows us home on the credit card!
