I just booked our first trip to WDW! We are going to celebrate my husband's homecoming from Afghanistan... we expect him home mid August and will be in the World from Sept. 10-17! I am so excited, both for his homecoming AND this trip!

From one Military Wife to another.... YAY for Deployments ending :cheer2:
and WAHOOOO for going to Disney!!!

We went in 2009 to celebrate making it through our first Deployment, and there is NO better way (in my opinion) to get back in touch with each other, and get used to being a family again, than in the laid back and amazing world of Disney.... when you pass through the gates you leave reality all behind and just forget what has happened and what may have to happen again. you just get to be a family together and thats all that matters :goodvibes

We will be there the exact same dates : )

This sounds like a perfect way to celebrate his homecoming, you certainly deserve it.

Thank you for your husband's service. (actually for your family's service)

:welcome: Welcome to our group! I have you added to the first post. :woohoo: Would you like me to add where you will be staying? Thank you to your husband and your family for his service to our country.

Dani, I hope all goes well for tomorrow. I was sceduled to be induced with my second child and on the way to the hospital my labour started.....I hope the same for you. I was away last week and didn't have time to check DIS ..........wow, I've missed so much. I had a lot of reading to catch up on. Planning is so much fun. A few years ago we decided to surprise our boys and not tell them until we were on our way to airport. It was fun, but I really did miss all the discussion ahead of time. We really enjoy that part of the vacation too :lovestruc

I'm sad that I'm gonna miss my DIS fam for a few days, especially my September group! :sad1: I really hope I have service in the delivery room so I can stay up on all the goings on!

Add us for Sept!!:yay: Originally we only doing 3 days, but DH got excited and added on.:woohoo: Sept 21-25th! Going to be @ POP for the first time, excited to learn more about it and our very first MNSSHP!

I'm trying get my ADR's in order so I can book them at the end of the month. I am also going to do the Princess Tea Party with my DD. I can not wait!

Oh Yeah, and it's all going to be a SUPRISE for DD!

My question to you all, How's the weather in Sept & should worry at about hurricanes?

Carey

How COOL! I would love to do one of the tea parties with my DDs, but will probably wait until they are both old enough to remember. Can't wait to hear how it is for you and your daughter!

I'm not worrying about hurricanes. Worrying about one isn't going to change whether your vacation will be affected by one or not, kwim?

I got bored today while my husband was gone and my boys were sleeping. :lmao: I'll fill in our flight and ADR times once I know them. I plan on printing the park times and crowd calendar for the week on the back so we can take it with us to the parks each day. :goodvibes I'm also going to put a copy up on our dream board.

I got the idea from this awesome trip report!

Oh my goodness, I LOVE this! Thanks so much for sharing!

If you don't have service you're going to have a lot to catch up on when you get home! Can't wait to see pictures of your little girl and hear all about how it went!

Welcome to all the new September travelers!

Good Luck Dani!!!

Nothing like some DisRadio at SIX AM...... :)
WAHOOOOOO!!!! Made my ADRs, got all of the ones I wanted too..... BUT I am so nervous about the whole thing, thats the bad part about my DHs job, you never know for 'sure' when he's going to be there till he's REALLY there..... :(

Hopefully it all goes smoothly!!!

I am SO tired, I'm off to shower and get some COFFEE!!! LOL

Thank you for the warm welcome everyone!

This is our first deployment, DH's been a Marine for 10 yrs but this is his first time being out of the country for an extended period of time. We just came off of 3 years of recruiting duty so we are definitely looking forward to a vacation and settling back into our "normal military life". :)

Having this trip to plan for is helping us all feel connected and have something to look forward to. My DH is getting just as excited as the boys and I... he said he can't wait to eat some yummy food so I've been sending him info on the restaurants so he can help me pick where to make our ADR! I am sure everything will look awesome to him after eating in a chow hall for 8-9 mos! lol

We are staying at Bonnet Creek... I was able to snag a week through the Armed Forces Vacation Club for $400! :woohoo: We wanted to stay onsite but with 4 boys and 2 adults the price difference between offsite and on for the size accomadations we would like was HUGE!

Right now we are debating whether we should do the MNSSHP. We only have 4 days in the parks (we got the 4 day military park hopper) but will be there with 6 full days to play (plus 2 for driving to/from) I want to allow plenty for downtime as a family but still make sure we are making the most of this trip. Is the Party worth the extra expense? Can we do it on a day we aren't entering the parks and save our full ticket for another day? That might work well if possible, relax all day at the hotel pool and then go to MNSSHP in the evening.

Thanks again for welcoming me into your group, I can't wait to hear about everyone else's planning!

Blessings to you and the Princess, Dani!!!

Congrats on gettting all you wanted! And I agree that listening to Disney music while making those ADR's makes it so much better!!:goodvibes

:wizard: For your DH making it home.:grouphug:

With the bad winter, i need something to think about that's fun!!! So, we're working on ADR's (can make them 3/26!), and just pulled out the luggage to look at what I left in there from our last trip last Sept.:banana:

I'm so happy that you're family will be able to celebrate this way. I bet it makes your DH's mouth water when he sees all of the food pictures and info.

Ack! I can't believe I haven't read this thread since Feb 22nd! I had to start way back on page 65 :rotfl:

Well, we booked our flights last week. I talked to my parents to make sure they are still good with our trip (as they are looking after the kids) and got the green light!

I gave up waiting on JetBlue (who apparently is now opening more dates tomorrow) and booked with AirCanada. $298 round-trip PP out of Toronto. So $840 for my husband & I. But that's ok. If we went ahead with JetBlue, we would have had to stay overnight there & back. So the money we would have had to spend on 2 hotel nights went into the airfare out of Toronto.

And our ADR date is coming up as well! March 23rd - only 2 1/2 weeks away. :goodvibes
