September 2011 - The Planning Has Started!!!

Peter Pan was one of our favorite nights. I made my mom and dad and son go on a treasure hunt around the house and find the pile of "treasure" at the end, which had a bunch of stuff for our trip. To eat I made garlic bread pirate ships, fruit "swords", and ice cream cannon balls along with Sheperd's pie (for the British theme).

For Lilo and Stitch we cranked the heat up, put on tropical music, and made hawaiian chicken and tropical drinks.

We haven't done a Dumbo night, but I think we will go with a circus food theme when we do.

That sounds like so much fun! Dumbo is actually my least favorite Disney movie (despite the fact that I sing my DD "Baby Mine" as a lullabye every night) because I find it very disturbing. The hallucination scene after Dumbo gets drunk, and the fact that none of the African-american people have faces are the worst parts. So DD has only ever seen it once, DS not at all. I'm unsure if I'll let them watch it again for a while.

brightvalleyjrts- Those are SO detailed! You've done a fantastic job on those shirts. I keep thinking how badly I want a sewing machine and you're making that worse. :lmao:

I now have commited to a resort:sad2:,It just took me 3 mounths, three resort choices and to many calls to Disney to revise my resv:scared1:. I am Happy to say we are staying at POR,water&river view with the DxDP. I requested AB,building # 14,18 or #27. I can now start planning:cool1: for real.

What are your dates? I either don't have you listed on the first post or I just can't find you. Congrats on picking a resort. That is half the battle! Riverside looks so relaxing.

What great ideas!

You make a very great point! I haven't seen Dumbo in YEARS and I don't remember much of it. Maybe I'll just pass on Dumbo. I'm really leaning toward Peter Pan first, but then again it would be nice to have a hula night with Lilo & Stitch with the stinky weather we've been having.

Good for you! Have you stayed at POR before....we did 2 trips ago and really enjoyed it, we had preferred rooms too, which is a good idea because it is such a HUGE resort. Now comes the real work, commiting to some plans

Not patches. I hand cut out all of the pieces and then stitched them onto the shirt. :)
Here is a better picture of Donald close up. Maybe you can see what I did that way. I am also including the pictures of the steps it took to make him.

Thanks for posting! We buy a lot of custom boutique! I've always wondered how the designers do the appliques. All I ever see are the finished products! I would love to learn how to do that someday. I just got a sewing machine for Christmas. You should make a tutorial! :goodvibes

Ok, I make my ADR's on the 25th, but I keep changing my mind! I need to back away from the AllEars menu site!:rotfl2:

There is actually a tutorial on this board. It is in the disboutiquers thread in the family section! That is where I got some tips. And really it just takes some practice. I have only been sewing since June. So not even a year yet. :)

Wow, we are a creative bunch! Love the Epcot passport & Donald shirt!

Ratpatootie (ratatouille) and Mexican pizza tonight!! any one else try to do Disney fun every so often???

Hoboy. I made the links for our 100 day countdown chain (really more for us than DD but I think she'll like it) with a different character on each one. We'll take the link down at dinner and the next day we'll do something involving that character's movie like read a book, color a picture or watch a movie. Other days we'll do something like go to the Zoo to visit the lions when it's Simba or to the aquarium for Nemo. We have memberships to both places so it'll be cheap or free. I like to plan this stuff so I'll probably have a big list all ready to go. Mostly I want my DD to get familiar with the characters she might not know like Peter Pan (WHEN is that movie getting re-released on dvd? Come on!!).

I just told my DH that I'm getting up at 4:45 central on the 22nd to make our ADRs and he thinks it's not necessary, but I would rather get up early and rest assured I got everything I wanted!

Right? It's a weird movie, I'm not a fan either. I too hadn't seen it since I was little (actually, I am unsure if I had ever seen it), and was kind of  when my girls and I watched it. Most of it is fine, but those other parts ruin it for me.

Ok, I make my ADR's on the 25th, but I keep changing my mind! I need to back away from the AllEars menu site!:rotfl2:

That menu site is dangerous for that very reason.

Congrates! I can totally relate. Isn't it a fantastic feeling when you know you are finally happy and can plan away.

I first booked back Nov 8 2010, for Oct, since then we changed our dates 7 times from Oct to Sept and back to Oct again :laughing:and our resort 3 times , I am not going in Sept any longer but enjoyed this thread so much when I was booked in Sept, I have just stayed around.

Happy Planning

Sorry a little late getting back to everyone. But I am trying for Spet 10th for Ohana Dinner and then we are doing the 11th for Ohana breakfast. But I keep checking other days and there are availabilties still for other days so I know I should be able to get one

I'm going to WDW the first week of September with my mom, sister, and sister's BFF! I seriously cannot wait.

The BFF recently took the plunge to get in on a condo-timeshare. Even though she has never been to Orlando. The convo between my sis and her BFF went something like this:

Sis: "You've been to Orlando. WDW is in Orlando!"

BFF: "I've never been to WDW."

Sis: "WHAT?! How is it you, the 'Princess of all things pure and innocent' have NEVER been to WDW?!"

BFF: "I've just never had the chance to go!"

Sis: "Oh, we are soooo going to WDW."

Anyhooo... the trip the snowballed into including my mom and myself. We have yet to buy our tix and make any sort of plans, but I am soooo excited! :yay:

It's a little weird to plan the trip knowing my kids aren't going (we -- myself, DH, and our 2 DDs -- have been to WDW twice; 2007 and 2010)

Have you checked the first post lately? Like near the bottom? ;)

I am going with my 2DD's September 23- October 2nd, Staying at Pop!!!!

:welcome: I have you added to the first post! :woohoo:

:rotfl: That is funny! :welcome: to our group! When you know your dates, let me know and I can move you from the unknown dates to in the schedule.

I promised someone (about 30-40 pages ago ) pics of my little snowglobe collection. So here they are!
All I need is a small AK snowglobe and it will be complete!
Those are great. We had a very short live Disney snowglobe once. :sad1: I am waiting until the kids are older to try that collection again.

Since my kids had done the autograph books to death and think they are too old for the Epcot masks, I made them Epcot passports for our last trip.
And I'm happy to report that we tracked down each and every KidCot spot and each page is signed & stamped!

Not sure what special thing we are going to do this trip.....
Awesome idea!

That is so cool! I save every piece of fabric scrap you could imagine so I am pretty excited to experiment. DD will be out of school for 2 weeks when she has her tonsils / adenoids out so she may want something like that to keep her busy without having to really be physical.

Made the mickey silhouette pops and will post pics later when i track down my cord for my camera. Had to do it a wee bit differently but everyone loved them. We had such a good time yesterday we are going to relax today and just go outside and enjoy the sun :yay:

Going to spend sometime looking at the park schedule / my schedule later because I just realized that the evening I planned to be at Epcot there is a marathon there.. :headache: Oooops.

I can't think of what our next countdown night will be either LHarper. I was thinking maybe Jungle Book.... Then you posted Lilo and Stitch and I LOVE that movie but we don't own it so the two littles have never seen it....

We have dates! :woohoo:

September 11 - 18, 2011 at Pop Century :goodvibes

We'll be celebrating my son's 4th birthday (Sept 23) and my daughter's very first trip (she was born February 28th!) We are SO excited!

.... a part of me thinks I should switch our ressie over to All Star Movies since Jake is obsessed with Toy Story and he'd absolutely LOVE the huge Buzz & Woody.

The past 3 trips we've stayed at Pop and it feels like home to us, but Jake has never been to Movies before.

Ahhh! What do I do?!
