September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Love today's drawing ShhhQ! Lady and the Tramp was the first Disney movie I ever saw and I had a Lady & the Tramp skirt I was so proud to wear! Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Hope everybody in Irene's path is OK today. We're on the very outskirts of it today and tomorrow, but I think we'll be fine. I was a little worried we would lose power, so I've been washing clothes like crazy for our trip :goodvibes. I didn't want to take bags of dirty clothes down like refugees :rotfl:.

Me too! We leave on Wednesday, and I was concerned about losing power during our final weekend at home before the trip. I was up until 1am this morning doing laundry. Happily, we should be ok at this point. We've had some power flickers, but no outages. So I've slowed the pace down a little bit and can relax some!

I am so excited!!!things are coming together. Today I got the parts of what my dd's are wearing at 1900! I also ordered tutu. For mnsshp for their pirate outfits. I can't wait till they go to school Monday and I can work out getting it all together. Then working on what I need. We are getting closer so close!! So many last minute things to sew, buy; and make!!arrggghhh

We got our last little piece of Mickey Mail today.... our maps!!!

I just decided a couple of weeks ago to get them, and when I placed the order a message popped up saying we may not get them before our vacation begins... they were WRONG!!!!:woohoo::woohoo:

Today was all about our cars!

We put 4 news tires on both of our cars today, and the car we will be driving to Disney also got a 90k maintenance and an alignment (glad we did because we've never gotten an alignment on that car before, and it was way off!). We still have to get an inspection and renew our registration on the other car this weekend, but that's about all we want to absorb financially before we leave. When we get back, our other car will need an oil change, transmission fluid drain & fill, and an alignment. Plus, the insurance for both our cars is due at the end of September. Really??

Plus, in the midst of cleaning the house, I discovered that my 2 year old streaked lines of toothpaste on the floor of our loft today. It got on the carpet and the outfits I laid out to pack for Disney! Luckily, the outfits were minimally impacted. But trying to wash toothpaste out of a carpet became a foamy mess! Small setback, but I'm getting back on track now!

We are having a beautiful summer day today. This is like the 10th day of above 75 degrees this year. Or it seems that way.
I have been busy sorting and organizing my DD stuff. She is moving back into college tomorrow. This is her senior year. I pack it up because what she packs into 5 boxes I can get into 3. :)
I found my camera in her stuff, that she swore she did not have. Sad in away, I was going to get a new one that does panoramic shots. Now I am rethinking that. Still plan on looking tomorrow really want one of those cameras.
28 days from now we will be on the plane heading to WDW:cool1:

So this might be my last post for a few days. We live on Long Island, Suffolk county to be exact and the hurricane is still projected to hit us full on. Its only a Cat. 1 but thats enough for us to lose power for awhile.. really hoping we dont but you never know with LIPA! :confused3 All the stores are boarded up around here and most people on the water are on mandatory evacuation.. really hoping it just blows by with no damage and no outages!

Thinking and praying for you, peachydreamyxx! i hope the power stays on and all is well! :goodvibes I got home this afternoon to find my DDs and my DH cuddled up on the couch, watching youtube videos of Disney coaster rides. EVERYBODY's excited now!:rotfl: I also realized that I have two baby showers next weekend, and a baby shower and quinceneara (sp?) the weekend after. I need to get the oil changed in my car, and get is vacuumed and cleaned out. I can't pack anything right now; our clothes and meds, etc., are still in daily use. My next full free weekend will be the weekend that we leave! I've got my lists ready, so I guess I can pack on the fly if I need to, but hopefully it will not come to that. :scared1: Four Saturdays from today, and my DDs will be seeing the MK for the first time ever. I cannot wait anymore, I'm going to expplode!:woohoo:

It just started really coming down within the last hour out here on staten island. We have tornado watches in effect. But both of my phone batteries are charged! I refuse to be cut off from the DIS. :rotfl:

We should be pretty safe, and in true NY Italian style we have a fridge full of food and a box of pastries to get us through. I'm thankful to be with my parents and grandmother for the storm. We probably won't have power by morning since they're reporting over 1 million people in ND and VA are without. :sad2:

Sad, I ordered our maps a while back and never received them :confused3

So, just went on the Disney website and tried ordering again, just to see if it said anything about not being able to order anything. WElllll, apparently I didn't finish the process the first time, because it still had my favorites so I hit order and I actually got a "receipt". Stupid me! Hopefully I get them in time !

Getting an early start....
Here is todays drawing!!

I almost can't believe I actually drew it!!!!

family fun and recreation yesterday was better watching irene coverage. I wonder if they know there is a such thing as overkill. Went out to lunch with the family then saw the smurfs. Oldest dd loved it she even cried at the end lol. she's so emotional. Went to borders book store got a whole bunch of hard cover books that were 75% off.

I hope all is well! I can't imagine the feeling of shelves empty, and houses boarded up. Please let us know how you are as soon as you can. ..................sending "happy thoughts" your way

10 DAYS TO GO!!! I just did online check-in! I was annoyed that I couldn't confirm that the request of bed rails was on there. I'm going to have to call them to make sure. If we don't have bed rails then the boys can't sleep in the beds.

:grouphug: to everyone in the northeast!

We have different weather problems and the heat is baking us alive. I had to work outside at a street festival yesterday in 108 degrees!:scared1: At 9pm it was still well over 100. I felt nauseated while in the sun, but once I got under the canopy, I felt better. I keep telling myself that Florida in Sept. will feel like Eatonville, WA after that. :rotfl2:
