September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Basketkat, WOW! Did you piece/quilt that? I love those fabrics (obviously, since I used some of them too!). I bet you feel better knowing that the dress is done!

Oh no that is how it came. There is no way I would sit and piece it all together!!! It was that quilt look, and then the blue I used for the straps was all around it.

Basketkat,

Your dress is adorable. I wish I was that creative. Nice work. And we are at 53 days! It seems so close, but I think it's because I barely had time to plan this trip. I spent so much time planning our summer trip. But this one is going to be great justvfor the surprise! :goodvibes

Oh thanks! Oooo surprises are SO fun!!!!

Basketkat
I love the dresses for Crystal Palace...they are adoreable. You have such great and creative ideas.
This thread has been great in sharing ideas and keeping us all excited about our trip.:dance3:

Thank you for letting me share it and be excited! I've been posting pictures on my facebook, and some people haven't been so nice. :confused3 I know I don't HAVE to make all of these things...I just want to. At least my September friends like to see the things...or pretend to! :rotfl:

OMGosh. Please tell me it is preprinted, because I am already wondering when you find time to sleep. Girl, you are amazing! :worship:
Hahahaha yes totally preprinted! Well...I barely sleep. :lmao: My husband works a weird night shift and long hours, so I stay up so I can text him on his breaks. So I work after the girls are in bed.
Thank you so much for your kind words! I get so excited when I made something I just have to share it!

Well, for your sanity I'm glad it was preprinted! :thumbsup2 The girls will love it. Sorry you haven't been feeling the love on Facebook. They just don't understand! :)

Alice has been totally obsessed with Mary Poppins lately! I wish I could fit in the 1900 Park Fair breakfast but there's really no space in our schedule and what she doesn't know won't hurt her. We'll do it when she's older. I'm sure we'll be able to find Mary in the parks so she can express her love! :lovestruc

Basketkat - I love, love, love (no really) love that dress. :lovestruc

You have very lucky daughters! :cloud9:

Bummer you can't fit 1900 Park Fare in, but you can meet Mary at Epcot! AND...if it makes you feel any better we did 1900 PF last year for breakfast just to meet Alice...my oldest was decked out in her Alice costume...and guess what....NO ALICE!!! She "fell down the wrong rabbit hole" that morning...aka...she was sick! :sad1: That was our first character meal, so I was pretty disappointed. :sad2:

I have been experiencing the same. No love at all! I love coming here around like minded Disney-loving folks who are just as excited as I am!

My theory is...there are Disney and there are non-Disney people. It's two separate groups. Non-Disney people truly do not understand the love for Disney and Disney people will support you when you talk about anything Disney. My friends are mostly Non-Disney people so I get a lot of flack which is why we've only told a few people we are going back so soon. I know we will hear a lot of, "You guys are going again?" I just want to enjoy my planning without the criticisms. I love the boards too for this very reason.

Thank you so much!!! :flower3:

One of the comments on my Facebook was "You need to join a support group"...I think I already have one...it's called DIS! :rotfl:

I am so thankful for this group and all of the excitement over our upcoming trips!!! Everyone in our group should write a trip report to keep the love going!!!! Ha! :grouphug:

WHAT! That is unacceptable! :confused3 Really though, can't they find another Alice? That makes me feel better about my decision though, so thank you! I figured we can find her (both Mary and Alice!) at the UK at Epcot and around the MK, we saw her in both places last time. Plus she (at least used to be!) in the parade and push comes to shove, there's always the GMR at DHS! :) I just think it's funny how DD has latched on to Mary, Bert, even Uncle Albert as much as she has!

Gotta love the Dis! My extended family really doesn't get why we want to go back so often. They just don't get it!

Thankfully the Mad Hatter was really sweet with my daughter, and teased about that silly Alice...and how she was always getting herself into trouble. You would think they would have an understudy or something. :confused3 I know they don't "guarantee" any of the characters, but we were really bummed.

Who wouldn't be attached to Mary??? After all...she is practically perfect in every way! ;)

Oh I could recite all the ways it's a jolly holiday with Mary if you'd like, I've heard it 2349890 times this week! :rotfl: My DH thinks Mary and Bert must have met at Hogwarts and that the funniest thing in the world is that everyone was looking for Mr. Banks all night long and he was in the basement working on the kite the whole time. "Did no one think to check the cellar?"

Sorry they haven't been nice. We are all happy to be a part of your support group. "My name is Kelly and I am a Disneyholic.".

It reminds me of a funny story at work. A coworker asked if I had ever been on a cruise. "yes." "what cruise line?" "really? You have to ask" "oh, Disney, sorry I forgot for a sec." :rotfl2::rotfl2: I thought it was hilarious. Everyone at work knows my obsession. I actually do a lot of vacation planning for them.

Basketkat, those dresses are beautiful! Don't let anyone give you a hard time, they're just haters!:thumbsup2 Even with this being our first trip, I have been encountering the haters. Most of my friends have been good about it, but I have a couple of coworkers that have been super snarky. But we've worked hard for this trip, so I chalk it up to jealousy and keep going.:)

We had the same experience as another poster.

This past December, we were determined to meet Mary Poppins. We watch that movie all the time and it was one of the characters we had yet to meet. So I booked an ADR at Park Fare, but when we get there--no Mary Poppins! I mean it's called the Supercalifragilistic breakfast! What?? So the staff asked around and said Mary was expected to appear at a certain time in MK. We called the Character Hotline to confirm their information, and then left the breakfast to head over at the time and place indicated. Unfortunately, she wasn't there either! So we go to the Customer Relations desk at MK and they call the Character Hotline again and now she is expected to be at Epcot at a certain time and place. Thankfully, after waiting for a little while, we finally spotted her heading over the bridge towards the UK. It was quite an adventure! They weren't kidding when they say, "Characters are subject to change at any time!"

You are so right! I was at a craft show and went to the homemade t-shirt booth across the way looking for Mickey stuff (she had several college themes and had purchased rights to the logos). This was an older rather grumpy (it was 105 degrees) couple until I mentioned my what I was looking for.
"No, no Disney, rights are too expensive, are you going to WDW?" When I said yes, we try to go every year now, they became 2 kids and couldn't shut up. It was soooo cool. They have been 15 times and take the RV and only occasionally take the grandkids etc, etc. Even when I went back to my booth they came over to talk Disney. Made my day!

I was so glad when new neighbors moved in down the street. No one in our neighborhood understands my family's fascination with Disney, but he and his wife are members of DVC, love F&W, and he used to work at the Garden Grill for 5 years. It's great! Love to talk Disney with him, especially behind the scenes Disney.

Our countdown is down to 48 days today!!! I know some of your countdowns must be getting SO close as we don't go until the end of the month.... :yay:

I did some sewing today. I made the girls Winnie the Pooh dresses to wear for Crystal Palace.....

I usually use ribbon for the straps, but decided to try using leftover material instead...it was just too cute not to use....

I also ordered my husband's "Captain Hook" costume for MNSSHP...things are coming together!!!! :cool1:

ADORABLE!!!!! Love the fabric choice too!! :flower3:

I hope you all get to see all the characters you are looking for! We headed over to DHS the other afternoon and got to see P&F!

Being a central FL resident, most of our neighbors and friends don't understand why we would want to brave the crowds, melt in the heat, and put ourselves through the torture of WDW in the summer. I've tried to explain how there is something for everyone in every season there, but they don't "get it". So glad mystT started the Central Florida DISboards group!

AP rates came out this past week, and we were able to score 2 more weekends. We are now staying at WDW an extended weekend every month until Christmas! The Sept and Oct stays are only 2 weeks apart!

RUN RUN RUN Andriod market has mobile magic (the disney app) for FREE! I don't know if it's free for a limited time or what, DH told me  Love that guy:thumbsup2
