September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

We got a cancellation from the crystal palace for 9/10. They are closing early due to the night of joy. No worries though we got into planet Hollywood instead. We are going to be at ltt on the night we do mnsshp. I hope they don't cancel that one too due to the park closing early..I love the tye dye idea. We are going to try that too.

We have a LTT the night we are doing MNSSHP too...yikes :scared1: I really hope they don't cancel it!!!!

The Children's Place usually has Halloween T-shirts ...that's a good reminder for me to check them out when I am done on DIS tonight

Oh no! That stinks about your ressie being cancelled. We are trying Cape May for the first time this year but on the 16th so we would miss you by one day....lol

On a personal note....DS4 and I started out tie dye shirts today....they are all wrapped up and dyed so I can open them tomorrow to see how they came out....hopefully they came out ok and I can post pics tomorrow.....(crossing my fingers)....

They'll be great, all tie dyes are unique and different, which is part of the reason that I love them. I have one that I would replicate over and over if I could, but I can't seem to make that happen exactly right. But I've come up with some amazing shirts in the process of trying. :thumbsup2

Hope your shirts turn out great!

Can anyone recommend a very basic tie dye kit to use with little kids? I am thinking about trying it with my little ones.

If you can find a Jacquard kit at a local craft store, they work wonderfully. The colors are bold and bright, and you only need water; everything else is included in the kit. They're in a white box with several different shirts displayed on the front.

I was thinking about doing the tyedye too but then thought of everything else I wanna make - lol... decided yesterday that we are going to make the 3 girls matching dresses to wear to bibbidi bobbidi boutique - concerned about finding the right sizes (1 niece wears size 12/14) in princess dresses and thought this might be a neat thing for the 3 of them... kinda little diva princess dresses - use shiny or sparkly material... just different colors as my daughter would kill me if I made her wear pink... lol :scared1: just need to find the right pattern now...

ps - LOVE my ticker :)

We were just there in June. Our kids love it there. Everyone always finds something to eat. There are plenty of crab legs!

There are a wide variety of things to eat at Cape May. There are meats like pork loin, flank steak, and roasted chicken as well as other salads and pasta dishes. There are soups and things like that too. Don't worry. Even if you don't like seafood, there is lots to eat.

Cool!! Thanks for the info. I am trying to be go beyond my usual culinary boundaries this trip by eating at BOMA. Any thoughts on that? :confused3

DBF will eat anything that is not moving, except eggplants and avocado..... I, on the other hand, could eat the same meal daily. I am scared of new stuff and the only seafood I will eat is shrimp!!! Other seafoods creep me out!!! :scared1: :rotfl:

How late does the pool at POFQ stay open? My DD really wants to swim, but I don't want it to take away from our time in the parks. The 1st Wilson Family Trip is coming!!!:dance3:

We disneymooned there in 2001 and have gone back 3x since! POFQ is my fav. moderate!!! The Life guards are done at 10pm and it says CLOSED at midnight, but as long as you are not disturbing anyone or loud and obnoxious, you can swim later. We've gone a few times after EMH and had a quiet pool to ourselves.

We really enjoy Boma! I suggest trying a little of everything and then going back for the things you really liked. I think there are plenty of basic things to pick if you don't like the other choices.

We are eating there for both breakfast and dinner. We enjoy it so much! The only time I didn't enjoy it was when I was pregnant and in full-blown morning sickness, but then again, I didn't eat much in the parks or anywhere on that trip.

I appreciate the info. I saw pictures of the buffet at BOMA so I have an idea of what they serve, but I wasn't sure. I figured they had to have something for picky eaters like me! ;) DBF really wanted to try it so that is why we are going.

I also want to take a look around AKL. The pics are so pretty and interesting. I would really like to take a longer trip and tour around the different resorts. (not to pool hop..... no arguements about that please)

We *love* Boma so much we have two adrs for it, one for breakfast and one for dinner. At breakfast they have this fabulous juice that is a mix of orange, guava and something else that is killer. At dinner, the dessert bar has these things called zebra domes that are cake and cream covered in a chocolate shell...oh, they are so good.

The buffet does have a few things that are "normal" but they also have a lot that is ethnically inspired and you really should step out and try a few things. I've heard really good things about the carrot ginger soup (it wasnt' there on the days I was last time) and we tried several of the dipping sauces for the meats and enjoyed them all.

The soup is one of the items dbf wanted to try and I wanted to try the zebra domes. I am sure I will try a bit of everything. I really do not like to order a full entree of something I have never had before only to be disappointed. I guess that is a risk you take at any restaurant though. Oh well, time to live a little right?? To the buffet I go then!!

We like Boma. It does take me out of my comfort zone though. They have car Ed meats, chicken, and lots of pastas. I love their different Hummas spreads and breads.

When we were there in June I was looking forward to the carrot and ginger soup. I had it last summer and it was so good, but they didn't have any this June. :confused3 they did have another yummy soup that I tried but now I can't remember what it was. My husband started out taking pictures of everything we ate, but after a while he forgot some places.

I smell a trip to Michael's in our future today. I am sure the kids will have fun trying it out.

My local Target has pre made tie dye tanks on clearance for $5!! I bought one that is blue and lime green, and plan on using a bleach pen to
make a Mickey head in the middle and something on the back. This will be my pool lounge shirt when I am not swimming.
And no manual labor to make it either. And found a pair of shorts to match that are teal with lime green piping.

That is the beauty of a buffet. There is usually something for everyone. I have to add my:thumbsup2 for Boma. We tried it for the first time last December and are going again this trip. I think you'll love not only the food but the beauty of the place. It (and AK Lodge) are amazing! Enjoy!:woohoo:

I've been stalking the dining reservations to try and get a later reservation for our arrival day. Finally today I had 2 choices. Now I don't have to worry about being late.

Paid our balance off last week and now we have 49 days!!

There's something really grand about paying the balance and knowing the trip is just around the corner!:cheer2: When you plan as early as all of us do, it seems it will never get here.:sad2: Then all of a sudden, it's so close! Now we can watch for our Mickey Mail.:goodvibes

Do you know what I absolutely LOVE about this Sept thread? Everyone on here is friendly, kind and supportive. That's not always the case on the DIS and it is such a great feeling to know I can hang out here and never worry there will be snarky comments or rudeness. I love hearing about all the plans and outfits and ressies. And I really feel so badly for those who are having difficulty or uncertainty. It feels like a little family. Thanks to all who make it so and a big thanks to L Harper for getting this going in the first place!:worship: (and someone really needs to clue me in on how you quote more than one person at a time to respond...please?):flower3:

I totally agree with you! Some folks just seem so mean spirited. I am glad our little family here is so nice and helpful. I will be sad when Sept ends and all of our trips are done.

At the bottom of the posts above your own are three options: Quote, multiquote and quick reply. If you want to quote more than one, press the multiquote (it'll show up orange once clicked). When you reach the last post you want to quote, hit Quote for that one instead, and you'll gor right into the advanced screen where all of your quotes line up!:thumbsup2

I agree with both of you, this group has been amazing. I have read some thread on the boards in the last few days that blow my mind, at how cruel and self-absorbed people can be for no reason. But I know I can ask anything here, and no one flames you for it. This group has been, and continues to be, a great experience!:grouphug:

Thanks for making me feel welcome even though we have only been planning for the last 3 weeks! I can't wait! :goodvibes

Oh and do we have a ADR list going? Just curious since I stepped in to planning so late. I love seeing who is eating where and when....:goodvibes
