September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

My souvenir list is so long...pick a pearl, ornaments, towels, pins, potato head and parts, t-shirt, 40th Dooney, oh my!!!!! I could go on and on all day! LOL! :lmao::rotfl:

Since I've been to WDW a number of times, I mainly buy jewelry as my souvenirs. Mexico (in EPCOT) has beautiful jewelry! I love coming home with new stuff to wear, and they make great gifts too! I love when someone says, "You got this from Disney World"?!

I will have to be on the look out for that. Thanks for the info Glendamax. I never really thought about buying jewelry from Disney, other than the Disney themed type.

My souvenier list isnt all that long. I think I want to get an ornament, a pin that says Pop century, a picture frame from Pop, a kitchen gadget (because I dont know why), and maybe a beach towel. :) But I do love to shop and I may find something I didnt know I absolutley needed!!!:goodvibes

Whoa, mention shopping and the thread just springs to life! :rotfl: j/k ladies!

We get a pin each and don't trade either. Though i do have some that i got on ebay for trading on our trip and nxt yrs cruise. Also an ornament a person for our Disney only tree! Also 40th anniv stuff is on my list. And whatever else catches my eye:yay:

Oh yeah, ornaments! We get one where ever we go on vacation. It's so hard to pick one out from that massive selection!

As for as Souvenirs go, I only buy towels. Weird, right? They are the longest lasting towels ever! I get one every trip-needless to say I think I have them all :rotfl2:
This trip we are planning to bring my son home Pirates pins-he collects any pin with Pirates, and my daughter is in LOVE with little miss match, so I'm gonna get her a buncha stuff-some keeping a secret for Xmas.

Is anyone else doing a little Christmas shopping while visiting?

Do you mean beach towels? If so, that's great to hear they are long lasting! We need some! For the holidays, I'll be hopefully buying my 6 year old nephew some Lego parts--does anyone know if they sell the "bulk" Lego there that you can fill up a container and pay one price for however many you get in there?

I plan on getting myself a new dooney 40th if I can find one. Also some new camillia charms I have a few disney ones but want to buy around 5 or 6 new ones. The girls are each getting us to pay for build a dino and outfit, cactures done at pop, hairwraps and Pirates league. They each have around 125.00 also to spend. We are going a bit overboard this year. Beacuse last year we were also paying for my stepson and his GF trip so we had to keep our spending in check. This year I don't care.:lmao: I was going to bring a 1000.00 plus the 150.00 in gc for t-rex and the girls gc/ But now I'm thinking 1400.00 plus the GC's we have. I'm sure we will come back with alot of it.

I'm just trying to figure out if we should bring cash or stick some in the debit accout. Dh said to just bring cash. I think I may just pay off his credit card and just attached that to our KTTWC I would feel safer that way. I checked last night and he only owes a couple hundred. I don't have any credit cards they wouldn't be safe. :scared1:

I'd love to have $1400+ to spend on souvenirs, have fun!! My suggestion would be to have it on the credit card attached to the KTTWC, you can always pay down your bill each night (or whatever) at the front desk with the cash/GCs you keep in your room safe, that way you don't have to carry the cash with you. This is our plan since we have 12 different GCs, Visa rewards card etc. that I don't want to lose!

I have an actual list too (trying to budget...:lmao:) but then I keep seeing this new stuff like the limited 40th SHAG merchandise that I just need!

Edited to add better link with prices and all the merchandise.

Oh my word that stuff is ADORABLE! I really like those little glasses! :)

I'm heading to the store to buy fabric for my daughter's "Wendy" costume for MNSSHP in a little bit...I'm super excited! :yay:

Ooh fun! She should be nice and cool in a Wendy dress!

When I saw those SHAG things I was like gaahhh it's like they designed things especially for me! All that "limited edition" talk on the post I linked made me kind of nervous but if I can't find it in Sept. I guess I'll have to find other things to spend my money on as that stuff isn't cheap. There's a pillow sham around $60 that he did that I would really love.

You can buy the bulk legos at the lego store in DTD.

I always pick up an ornament from the Christmas store in DTD. Other than that, I just plan on taking home lots of excellent memories.

Great, thank you! I hope I can get random bits like wheels and things. He'll love it!

Ear hats (this is our first trip, I just have to), coffee mugs because I love them, pick a pearl, MNSSHP stuff, maybe, and as much unique scrapbooking stuff as I can carry!:lmao:I actually could come with nothing but pictures and be happy as a clam, the other stuff is just bonus!:thumbsup2

What is everyone looking forward to buying on their trips as far as souvenirs? :woohoo: I am hoping to pick up some good 40th anniversary stuff with more retro designs on it, and we need some more Mr. Potato Head parts as DD plays with that almost every day. I am in the minority in that I buy pins but I don't trade them so I'll get a few to remind me of special things we did like MNSSHP.

Oooh Souvenirs!!!! I get special pins to commemorate our trips...I don't trade either...each pin has special meaning to me. BabyK needs ears and DS4 will probably get some too. I need a new Disney Sweatshirt, mine from 08 is getting worn, but it's sooo comfy! Since it's the first time all 4 of us are going I'd love to get an ornament too for Christmas....other than that I am sure we will get shirts from the normal places too... I will have to check out that cool jewelry in EPCOT!

Last week the SHAG merchandise was in all the Art of Disney Stores! It was the first I had seen them.

The Lego Store at DTD was recently remodeled. The section to fill a container is still there, it just moved to the other end of the store. We were there Tuesday and they had small wheels. I hadn't seen wheels there in a long time. They also had black scorpions and red snakes. My son went crazy filling his his bucket with the scorpions!

The large buckets are $14.99 and the small are $7.99.

We noticed that the Legos at the Parks and Once Upon a Toy are more expensive than the Legos at the Lego Store by a few dollars.

I had never heard of SHAG until about 5 minutes ago! I want the shirt, the mens shirt for DBF, and the glasses. Like someone else said, I think they were designed for me. I love that vibe. So cool!

This was super helpful, thank you so much!

I made a comment to my husband today about buying things for the kids while at Disney (Souvenirs) and he almost fell over. He said, "We were just there in June. What could they possibly need?" Honestly, that may be true but can you really go to Disney and not buy anything fun? I can't. :rotfl:
