September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Ok, I'm starting to chew my nails a little bit and squirm about the crowd level for my week. The Beach Club, Yacht Club, and Contemporary are all completely booked all but 2 bedroom suites during my time frame. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's all convention goers and they will mostly stay out of the parks during the day. Could make evening touring crowded though.

I have the sneaking suspicion it's going to be high; I just looked at Pop for that week, and all of the preferred rooms appear to be gone for the week we're there!:scared1: It looks like FD did exactly what they were hoping for, and drove the crowd levels up. :sad2:
I have a four day weekend this week, so I'm going to try to work on our tanks and tees!:woohoo: Three of my BFFs got together and had a backpack made for me our trip, too; they know I carry inhalers and epipens, along with a portable nebulizer, so a hip pack isn't always enough. It's pretty cute; it's pink and green like our DIS pins, with One Crazy Mamasita embroidered on it. :rotfl: I can't wait to pack it up!

Paid off the trip balance today!! :cool1::cool1: I wanted to make sure those Disney Rewards points would be available before we left. I was going to change our 8 day tickets to a 7 day but the CM said it would only be a difference of $3 (in hindsight maybe he meant per person? still, $6) so I kept the 8th day. We weren't planning on going anywhere our arrival day but I really want to now. Gotta take advantage of that day!

OK: We arrive at MCO around 11am. We wouldn't be able to get into our room for my DD to take a nap until the rooms are available around 3 pm, right? So we might as well head to the MK! We will have plenty of time there later in the week so it'll be a no pressure, relaxed visit. I've made an ADR for 4:20 for the Plaza which is all I could get. We previously were going to eat at Boatrights at our resort. I'd like to still have an early night so we can start Monday am at Epcot.

So tell me, is this crazy? If we don't expect to ride any rides it should be enjoyable, yes? Hey, maybe this would be the perfect time to meet Mickey at the Main Street Theater!

Anyone else go to a park their first day when they have an early morning flight and small kids?

I agree, they're great ladies! We tend to be that way with each other, just random acts of kindness. I've been trying to convince them to book some extra rooms and make it a grand gathering, but I haven't convinced them yet!:lmao:

My boss alerted me to the fact that the vacation I am planning to take falls on labor day weekend, has anyone stayed during this time?

I will be at POP 8/31-9/6, is that a horrible time to be there?!?!?!?!?! I have been there the third week of august and the crowds weren't too bad, but I don't know how this weekend is. Please someone let me know

The past 2 years we have checked into pop early and our room was ready. So you maybe able to get into it early. We have a room only our first night so we are just doing DTD with lunch at t-rex and build a dino. I was thinking of a movie but I think just walking around picking up a couple of things and by then it will be pretty late. Then the next morning we need to check out and check back in to our FD package. So I'm hoping we keep the same room. He noted both of our reservations so we could. But you never know.

Now that we moved our trip up I'm sort of in panic mode. Like I need to get a list done and start getting things off it ASAP. :rolleyes1 I think I will make a list this afternoon.

It really isnt bad at all! Most people start school right after labor day so that week tends to be quiet. Labor Day itself may be busy with locals, but other than that, when I was there it was pretty dead. I loved it!

For those traveling the week of 9/24, it seems that a bunch of Crystal Palace breakfasts have open up. I was able to grab one any day that whole following week for 7 people at 8:05 and 8:25. Hope others can grab them too!

:woohoo: for paying off your trip! Such a great feeling!

Like Kelly said, you may get extra pixie dust and your room may be ready early!:wizard: Every time but once, our room has been ready when we checked in, all before 3pm. In any case, we always buy length of stay tickets and get an early morning flight on arrival day and a later flight on departure day so that we can get all the park time we can get! We have been doing it this way since youngest DD was 15 months old on our first trip and we love it. We love beginning and ending the trip at MK :cloud9: Besides, we're all too excited not to go to a park on arrival day, lol
I think it will be a great way for you to ease into your vacation! BTW, the Plaza has great food! The Plaza doesn't get a lot a lot of Dis attention like some other restaurants but we really like it! :goodvibes

Sweet! Thanks for the heads up! I grabbed one too. I love being in the park before it opens, we have an 8:05. We're going to shovel in our food and book it over to Rapunzel before the line forms. We LOVE Rapunzel and can't wait to meet her, but I refuse to wait 2 hours in line. By 9:15am last month the line was already forming for the 11:15 meet and greet.

I have an ADR disease, seriously!

:lmao:

I check what is available every day and I think I have reservations for almost every meal the last three days we are there.

My problem is that my FIL may be meeting us at WDW but hasn't made up his mind yet. If he goes, he will meet us down there halfway through the trip which means we have to find ADRs for 5 instead of 4.

My plan is to get him to make his decision this weekend so we can cancel anything we don't need. I hate sitting on ADRs when someone else could enjoy them.

And I have my first sewing class tomorrow! Yippee!!!!

That is ok we only have 2 adr's 1 being t-rex. But for what ever reason I feel the need to stalk them. I did get a ohana's yesterday for our depature day and cancled our CP one. So exicted I love ohana's for breakfest. Plus we may take the bus to DTD since we won't need to be on ME until around 3pm.

I feel like I have one too. Mine was more of the "Make an ADR for every single meal" variety. I made reservations then went to plan the days around them. I realized "DUH.... when are we supposed to enjoy our time and have fun!!!" , instead of running from food reservation to food reservation and "allowing for at least 1.5 hours to get to your destination," at least according to the WDW website when you make the ADR's.

I then had the bright idea  to cancel all breakfast reservations and all but one lunch ADR. That way we can do whatever we want without time restrictions. The lunch ADR is for Coral Reef and Dbf really want to go there. The only ADR's left are for dinner and I know those are necessary especially for my bday dinner at Tokyo Dining. I had so much fun planning that I forgot I was actually supposed to have fun while at the parks.... dersh.... :upsidedow

Hope you have a good trip!

Just got back from taking the girls to see Cars2 :thumbsup2 Standard version, not the 3D version.

We all really liked the movie! Love getting more into the Disney spirit :)

At the beginning of the film, there was a short Toy Story clip that was so funny.

DD7 read Winnie-the-Pooh by AA Milne a couple weeks ago so she's looking forward to the new pooh movie that comes out next month. Love all the Disney movies that are helping to pass the time until September :cool1:
