September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Kelly, that curtain is one of the reasons I didn't choose CBR! I know there are other rooms, but to spend the $$ to upgrade, I would want a themed room and that skeleton/pirate freaked my daughter out on the Disney cruise (pirate party) we took last year. They had it up on the big movie screen and she was shaking and pointing yelling "no eyes, no eyes". We actually had to leave the party. So, yeah, no go for it in this family yet. I think we'll wait for PO princess themed rooms! ;)

For the others staying at pop you will love it. At least we did. Our upgrade is costing us around 500.00 more if we just stayed at pop and did the upgrade. But we are also skipping MNSSHP. To make up for some of the diffrence. Plus we want to enjoy what we are paying for and are now having a pool day. To me 500.00 is alot of money but it took the amount and divied it buy 4 and the number of nights. It really only added 15.00 extra a person per a day. Then if I minus our the MNSSHP tickets it really isn't all that bad. But I think even if we were staying at pop we would minus out the party. So I guess I shouldn't really factor that in.

Ok so 500.00 more does seem like alot still.

I justified my upgrade because my boss has decided to pay for $1200 of my trip! :worship: So I thought this was the perfect time for me to do an upgrade as I was planning on spending way more obviously before my boss said she really wanted to help pay for our trip as birthday/christmas this year.....so I end up paying some out of pocket for the upgrade but not near what I was going to pay for the whole trip so I really end up saving money! :dance3:

BTW I have the best boss in the whole wide world! :thumbsup2

Any chance any one could give me a shoot in the dark about how long the Maharajah Jungle Trek
Pangani Exploration Trail
Rafiki's Planet Watch
might take with a 18mo old, I know it will vary but just an idea, like maybe 1 hour each?

I appreciate the help, DH and I have never done these, so we are trying to get an idea of what we can fit in on our 2 AK mornings!

Yes, you do! My boss is a great guy, but I can forget getting anything but my hard earned paycheck, and a crapload of carpal tunnel!:rotfl: On the plus side, I have two weeks of 12 hour days left, and then it's over. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it's beautiful.

i really want to upgrade to contemporary but cant really afford that much right now and plus my kids are 3 and 2 and they probably would like all star movies better my son is excited for the big buzz and woody, i think i stood at one of the all stars once with my parents, we went so many times since i was 6 months old and we stood at every hotel grand floridian and comtemporary are my fav. but now that i have a family of my own, i rather spend less on the resort and more in the park because i spent a lot last year at coronado springs and we were hardly in the room. just would love to upgrade to deluxe , but saving it for next year for christmas 2012

I know we haven't even made it to our trips for this year but being the obessive Disney planner that I am I'm already looking ahead to next year :rolleyes1 So, speaking of POR/POFQ if we go to Disney next year I had my heart set on staying at the new Art of Animation resort because I think the theming looks so cool, but once I saw that they were going to be renovating some of the rooms at POR into Royal (Princess) rooms I think that may be where we are headed next because I know my girls would love, love, love those rooms :cloud9:

Yeah I have already been working on my budget for the next trip :rolleyes1 I haven't stayed off site yet so maybe we will be sold on it but I really REALLY want to go to AoA and I really REALLY would love to get the free dining plan and I really REALLY want to see the Christmas decorations so I am thinking next November /Dec if I can talk DH into it/if work stays steady. Otherwise same time frame, just 2013. That's the longest I am willing to wait :yay:

I really want to do a November/December trip one of these years. I want to see the Christmas decorations!
Me too! This trip was originally a Nov/Dec trip, for last year. About two weeks after I put my deposit down in March (2010) my mom died. I did not feel like a big Christmas, I wanted a quiet Christmas since I knew it was going to be hard. We had been to WDW when I was a kid, the only WDW I actually remember, was a Christmas trip with both my parents, and having that memory, and not having either of my parents, I just knew it would be too much. I think by 2012 I will be ready for a big Disney Christmas

I wanted to share something my family and I did last night, in honor of our "100 Days to Disney" celebration. Since O'hana is one of our favorite restaurants, I made a dinner and served Grilled Pork tenderloin, teriyaki lo-mein noodles, hawaiian rolls and grilled shrimp. I would have made a greens salad with honey/lime dressing, but our girls aren't into it. :-)

I also incorporated something we discovered at 1900 Park Fare... strawberry soup! It turned out delicious.

We listed to one of our Disney CDs while eating, and "toasted" to our upcoming trip. It sure felt exciting, knowing that we're so close!

Anyways, just wanted to share. I can't claim the idea to do this (my sisters did this a few months ago when their 100 Day countdown came around).
Sounds awesome!

Wow that is awesome! I would *almost* think about getting a job if I knew I would have a boss like that! Hahahaha! :lmao:

You could always stay one night in the Contemporary. It will give you a chance to try it out without breaking the bank. Plus, it will let you know if it's worth a full stay next time!

So... the crazy Disney dreams have started. My dream last night was that we finally were leaving for Disney. We got about an hour away from home and I realized that I forgot our itinerary. My husband just kept saying that we don't need it and I kept freaking out that it had our dining information that I had to know. We stopped at a library and they charged me $15 to use their internet and print off the things I needed. The weird part was that my friend was at the library with us. She is not going to Disney with us so I have no idea she was in my dream at the library with me. I think my dream is telling me that I need to start making a checklist of everything I need to pack. :lmao:

I had a disney dream last night too, only my second so far. We were wandering around Epcot and I couldn't figure out how to get the kids food. Then I realized I didn't know how to go anywhere and was very confused. I couldn't sleep last night so I guess I should just be happy I finally slept long enough to dream

Well, the kids are home so we are going to have a midday countdown party. We're watching Gnomeo and Juliet, we made our bags we are going to open on the state lines, we mapped out our route and talked about the states we will be driving through, they made Mickey Mouse clubhouse candy necklaces from a kit I bought on clearance at Walmart and when we watch the movie we have popcorn, peanuts and Cars 2 marshmallows in the Toy Story paper bags I bought at the dollar store :thumbsup2

Off to go watch the movie with the kids. :happytv:

Sounds familiar... I haven't had my normal dreams yet, but I almost always dream that we are close to arriving and realize we forgot our Disney Documents and the wouldn't let us in!!!!

Hi, I just found this thread! We'll be going from the 17th to the 24th this year! Originally it was supposed to be my sister and I, but she unexpectedly found out she was pregnant last month, and she's already 4 months along! Being due on September 13th makes it a no go, but my brother graciously stepped in :rotfl2:. He's 26 and never been, so he's pretty excited!

Woa...that is a crazy dream!!! But dreams must mean we're getting closer!!!!

:faint:

I've only taken about 20 pregnancy tests recently. This is a definite fear of mine (not pregnancy, just finding out I'd be due near our vaca time)

Anyway just popped in to say Gnomeo and Juliet = :crazy2:

The kids are enjoying it, guess I better get up and clean then...

We going Sept. 24 - Oct. 1. First night at POP and the rest of the time at Coronado Springs. I can't wait!
