September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I am going to try this again.. maybe the 3rd time is the charm! ;)

Hi everyone! :)

My DH, DD (who will almost be 4 by the time we leave) and I are visiting in September. We'll be staying from September 11 - September 16.

I went to WDW waaay back in 1996, so it's been a very long time and DD and DH have never been. We did go on DCL (the Magic) last year, but this is our
first family to WDW together.

We're reserved at CSR and we chose to upgrade our free dining to DxDP. I was pretty lucky with my ADRs... I may tweak a bit, but I'm pretty happy with our dining plans now.

Now, I just have to keep my fingers crossed for a flight sale.... :surfweb:

:welcome: I have you added to the first post! I would love to go to WDW and be on the DxDP at least once.... without picky kids... haha Sounds like so much fun!

Ok! I did it! I changed our reservation from POP to Port Orleans Riverside! This will be our first time at a moderate, :cloud9:

YAY for upgrades!!! I have a question about these upgrades though. (I also just sent an email to my travel agent to see about it.) If you have trip insurance can you still upgrade to a different resort and it not mess up your trip insurance? We would LOVE to upgrade to a moderate, but wouldn't forfeit our trip insurance to do so. Thoughts on this?

Also, what moderate should we choose if we can upgrade?!?!?!

hi ive stayed at coronado springs last year it was pretty nice, how was all star movies im staying there in september and it will be for the first time

We stayed at All Star Movies our very first trip and we actually liked it. It's an average size room but we loved the theming around the resort. We stayed in the Love Bug section and it had a neat photo-op with Herbie himself. lol. There was also an area where a hammock was placed in a nice quiet area that my husband liked spending time in. I hope you guys like it.

We have trip insurance also, and it did not affect the insurance.
My price really didnt' even go up that much on any of it as we were paying to upgrade to table service already. I'm super excited!

We decided on Port Orleans Riverside because of reviews that we read, the only issue that we saw that people had was with the bus system but honestly I think you find problems off and on at any resort with the buses.

You will love the moderates. We do. I'm sure I will miss pop but like you in the end. We switched since the overall cost wasn't much after we upgraded the plan.

WOW DxDP... I have never had the courage! What ADRs do you have? We have very similiar dates.

YAY for upgrade!!! We chose to upgrade to POR this trip as well.... we have only done values in the past... We loved Pop but didn't care so much for ASSp.

We picked CSR for our moderate because of the good reviews we read, the fact that it is relatively newly refurbed and a friend of mine recently stayed there and loved it. She has 4 kids and is relatively picky (without being ridiculous) so I am certain we'll be happy there!

My first choice was to go to POP, but DH isn't as big a Disney fan as DD and I so I figure we'll be nice and give him a break from character overlaod at the end of the day. ;)

Thanks for the add to the list!

I actually got all of the ADRs I wanted except for Coral Reef and Ohana.. but alot of the recent Ohana reviews are that people felt way too rushed. My ADRs are as follows...

Sunday

D: Boma. (Though I might change this to Whispering Canyon.. not sure yet)

Monday

B: Crystal Palace

L: The Plaza

D: The Wave

Tuesday

B: Akershus

L: La Cantina or Backlot Express (obviously not an ADR though ;))

D: Flying Fish

Wednesday

B: Grand Floridian Cafe

L: Cosmic Rays (not an ADR)

D: Raglan Road (might switch this to Wolfgang Puck Cafe)

Thursday

B: Tusker House

L: Sunshine Seasons

D: Le Cellier

Friday

B: Maya Grill (*might* change this to a character breakfast, depending on what time we book our departing flight)

Have fun! I want to go in November at some point. I'll have to check in with you after your trip to see how you liked November :thumbsup2

Millermom - Sorry to hear about your grandmother. I hope things turn around. 10 kids in one house?! Brave woman!

:welcome: I tried to see if I had you added to the first post, but I didn't see you when I skimmed through. Would you like me to add you? If so, what are your travel dates and where will you be staying?

L-Harper, thanks! We are in the first post. Our dates are 23rd-30th at Port Orleans.:cheer2:

I absolutely hope you stick around this thread! I will add you to the bottom of the first post. :cutie:

For us, we like staying in refurbished rooms if we can! Coronado Springs was renovated in 2009, which included replacing 2 full size beds with 2 queen size beds. Port Orleans French Quarter just finished being renovated last month, with the same upgrade from full to queen. Plus, it's nice when you can stay somewhere with new tubs and vanities! So I would vote for either of those.

Port Orleans Riverside will be under refurbishment for the next year, but you may be able to snag a room that they will have completed this summer!

Is that another switch?? :lmao: I'm trying to catch up on this thread and thought I saw you back at Pop a couple of posts ago?? :rotfl:

Hey all-----So excited for all your upgrades! :thumbsup2 I looked at moving to the DXDP but I really am excited about staying at PoP and having sooo many friends there with me.:goodvibes My kids think that Robin(disneydiva16) and I along with Norma(2pirates1princess) are planning a trip to the beach. They will be so excited to find out we're landing at Disney. and then our family friends that we hang out with are coming as well. My kids will flip!! :dance3:

I just wanted to say all of you that are going through rough times with loved ones health----you are all in my prayers! :grouphug:

And Welcome to all of you that have joined us for September....a fabulous time to travel!:yay:

Ended up getting T-rex for the day we arrive. So excited! Never have eaten there but looks so entertaining. Then I took at look at our airline tickets and somehow our seats disappeared. So I had to take all our ressie's and rebook seats...I mean that's 12 people to seat...kinda mad and will call United today cause on the way home there are no seats together and we have kids who HAVE to sit next to a parent....United doesn't wanna mess with me:mad:
