September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

I am debating what to do the day we arrive. Any thoughts?

Our flight will land around 1pm. I figure by the time we clear customs, get our luggage, catch the ME and get to the resort... well, it will probably be close to 4pm. The benefit is we can probably check in right away.

I think my DD will be pretty wiped out from the travelling, so I don't want to do too much. Originally, I was going to try and have dinner and see the parade and fireworks.. but now I am thinking that may be too much, especially with a long day at MK the next day.

I have ressies at Boma that first night. Now I am thinking of maybe switching to a character dinner, so she at least gets a taste of the magic her first night. Then, if energy allows, we can hang by the pool, etc. that night.

Would you do that or keep your Boma ADR? Any suggestions for a character dinner?

As for the refurbs... yeah, my DH would complain the entire trip if he didn't at least get a queen bed. :headache: ;) So, our choices were down to POFQ or CSR.

Personally I think the DxDP will be a little too much food - but I think it makes the most sense. My DH really loves his apps and prefers a relaxing dinner. He also isn't one to grab and go for breakfast, which is okay because it will allow us to do character breakfasts anyway.

I have a feeling we'll be taking home some goodies with those snack credits. :rolleyes1

Is anyone having groceries delivered to their room? If so, which service will you use? I am considering having a small order delivered. Manly drinks my DD likes and a few snacks.

Is that another switch?? :lmao: I'm trying to catch up on this thread and thought I saw you back at Pop a couple of posts ago?? :rotfl:

Yep it is only the third time. :rotfl2: It only ended up being around 280.00 more than are kids free promo we had. I could have taken the savings and ran. But we aren't doing MNSSHP. Dh and the girls and I had a talk and they have a hard time making it past 9 or 10 so it isn't the best thing to spend210.00 on for us. Since we are going for 10 days we are doing at DTD with moive and then just hanging at the pool. We also have a day scheduled for TL.

I had such a hard time making up my mind mostly beacuse we actually like the QSDP. But we were going to pay for a couple of TSmeals OP. In the end it just didn't make sense to keep the QSDP. My OP expense would be about the same or more than the upgrade. Then once you upgrade the plan the price diffrence wasn't that huge to move to a moderate. I love Love pop. So I really hope I like CBR . I'm sure I will we are on vacation.

Hi everyone!

We are surprising our DD with a birthday trip August 28-Sept 8! Her bday is on Sept 5, she will be 8. She has no idea because we told her that we probably will not go back until the FLE is completed. ;) We will be staying at ASMu with the QSDP! Sooooo excited! We even scored CRT for breakfast on the 5th!!

Woot Welcome to the thread! Happy planning. We just got a CRT also.

I am having some things delivered. My youngest still wears a diaper at night. So Diapers, Water ,Juice boxes ,milk, poptarts and cereal. Dh and I don't do breakfest but the girls do. I do also have to order Dh beer. IT will be cheaper than the 6.00 a piece disney charges.

We aren't doing anything on arrival day. We are just doing a CS meal at CBR and then maybe to the pool. We may go to DTD and just do WPE but I'm not sure on that one. Going to just figure out if the girls want to or not. I would rather be rested for our first day.

Hey all-----So excited for all your upgrades! :thumbsup2 I looked at moving to the DXDP but I really am excited about staying at PoP and having sooo many friends there with me.:goodvibes My kids think that Robin(disneydiva16) and I along with Norma(2pirates1princess) are planning a trip to the beach. They will be so excited to find out we're landing at Disney. and then our family friends that we hang out with are coming as well. My kids will flip!! :dance3:

I just wanted to say all of you that are going through rough times with loved ones health----you are all in my prayers! :grouphug:

And Welcome to all of you that have joined us for September....a fabulous time to travel!:yay:

Ended up getting T-rex for the day we arrive. So excited! Never have eaten there but looks so entertaining. Then I took at look at our airline tickets and somehow our seats disappeared. So I had to take all our ressie's and rebook seats...I mean that's 12 people to seat...kinda mad and will call United today cause on the way home there are no seats together and we have kids who HAVE to sit next to a parent....United doesn't wanna mess with me:mad:

Sorry about your flight situation that is a real pain. I don't know anyone in there right mind that would want to sit with my 3 year old for the flight. She isn't the best person at sitting in her seat. I'm hoping this year she will sit more still.

YAY for upgrades!!! I have a question about these upgrades though. (I also just sent an email to my travel agent to see about it.) If you have trip insurance can you still upgrade to a different resort and it not mess up your trip insurance? We would LOVE to upgrade to a moderate, but wouldn't forfeit our trip insurance to do so. Thoughts on this?

Also, what moderate should we choose if we can upgrade?!?!?!

I would definitely say POFQ. Its recently been renovated and is the smallest of all the moderates. With kids and it being your first trip, I would think you'd want the shortest walks from the bus stops and main building back to your room . Also the pool is nice, and has a neat but mild slide that little boys would like.

We have trip insurance also, and it did not affect the insurance.
My price really didnt' even go up that much on any of it as we were paying to upgrade to table service already. I'm super excited!

We decided on Port Orleans Riverside because of reviews that we read, the only issue that we saw that people had was with the bus system but honestly I think you find problems off and on at any resort with the buses.

YAY for upgrade!!! We chose to upgrade to POR this trip as well.... we have only done values in the past... We loved Pop but didn't care so much for ASSp.

YAY For the UPGRADES! Happy to hear you're joining us in trying POR!

:welcome: to the group! I have you added to the first post! :dance3:

We have decided to stick with Pop. It would be nearly $500 more to upgrade to a moderate and that is with taking off our park hoppers. I know that my boys will love Pop anyway!

I think POP looks so fun, and I know so many people who love it! I bet you will be happy with your choice! :thumbsup2

Pop is great and with the age of your boys I'm sure they'll love the bright, bold colors and giant icons! We love Pop. POFQ looks like a great resort but the Value resorts really scream "Disney" to me in a way that the mods and deluxes don't plus you have Pop's great food court :thumbsup2

All of you are going to have a great time and I think you'll be really happy with POP! :wizard:

I know we haven't even made it to our trips for this year but being the obessive Disney planner that I am I'm already looking ahead to next year :rolleyes1 So, speaking of POR/POFQ if we go to Disney next year I had my heart set on staying at the new Art of Animation resort because I think the theming looks so cool, but once I saw that they were going to be renovating some of the rooms at POR into Royal (Princess) rooms I think that may be where we are headed next because I know my girls would love, love, love those rooms :cloud9:

Anybody else thinking about AoA or the new princess rooms possibly for next year?

Then again, the BC may spoil us and we might not want to stay anywhere else after this September :rotfl:

So many decisions, lol

I'm already looking forward to 2012 and waiting for prices to come out, hopefully by the first weekend in August. Even with the Princess rooms, we would still probably plan on the new AOA resort. Primarily because it's a value resort, which will be cheaper than the Mod prices (plus a premium) for the Princess room. We may consider staying there for a night, though, since we like to do split stays and sample resorts!

I totally know what you mean about planning the next trip. I'm planning one for November 2012 for probably 7 days at CBR. I actually want to surprise my whole family with it, like not even tell my husband. I have an Etsy business so he wouldn't even see money coming out. :lmao: It would just be SO much fun! I'd just wait until 2 months out and tell him that he has to take so and so dates off of work and to not ask questions. :thumbsup2

That's an idea too! We're doing a split stay for the first time this year so that may be an idea too:idea: I really would like to try out both resorts!

I really want to do a November/December trip one of these years. I want to see the Christmas decorations! That sounds like an awesome surprise!!! How fun and even better that he would have no clue with the finances! Surprise trips are so much fun. We loved the time we surprised our girls in 2009 :)

Hi all,

I haven't been on the boards much in the last month or so... life keeps getting in the way.

I wanted to share something my family and I did last night, in honor of our "100 Days to Disney" celebration. Since O'hana is one of our favorite restaurants, I made a dinner and served Grilled Pork tenderloin, teriyaki lo-mein noodles, hawaiian rolls and grilled shrimp. I would have made a greens salad with honey/lime dressing, but our girls aren't into it. :-)

I also incorporated something we discovered at 1900 Park Fare... strawberry soup! It turned out delicious.

We listed to one of our Disney CDs while eating, and "toasted" to our upcoming trip. It sure felt exciting, knowing that we're so close!

Anyways, just wanted to share. I can't claim the idea to do this (my sisters did this a few months ago when their 100 Day countdown came around).

Oh that is so fantastic! :goodvibes I'm glad you guys had a great time. I cannot believe we're getting so close to that 100 day mark. We have 104 days.

Question for you Former September travelers... Does anyone have record or remember if the Lights Motor cars action, had an 11am showing on fri, sat, sunday?

My notes only have the 1:20 and 410 showing but steve soares shows an 11am on weekends right now, but Im not sure if its only because of the busier time of year, I don't think we have done DHS on a weekend before and an 11AM show would be prefect!!!!!:cool1:

and since when does that have a fastpass?

We are doing a princess room also. We were going to do a pirate room when I called to upgrade. But I think the curtain would still freak my 3 year old out. So I decied not to do it. But the princess rooms are a go. I'm hoping to return again with free dining. We have had it the past 3 years. I'm getting spoiled.

For the others staying at pop you will love it. At least we did. Our upgrade is costing us around 500.00 more if we just stayed at pop and did the upgrade. But we are also skipping MNSSHP. To make up for some of the diffrence. Plus we want to enjoy what we are paying for and are now having a pool day. To me 500.00 is alot of money but it took the amount and divied it buy 4 and the number of nights. It really only added 15.00 extra a person per a day. Then if I minus our the MNSSHP tickets it really isn't all that bad. But I think even if we were staying at pop we would minus out the party. So I guess I shouldn't really factor that in.

Ok so 500.00 more does seem like alot still.
