September 2011 - The Planning Continues! (2nd Thread)

Well just when I thought I would get the shirt done today---uhhhhNO!! I think I need to have to sewing machine clean. I have been avoiding this cost to try and get these shirts done, however I am finding it an issue , so this weekend this machine must go into service....I am sad!

Oh my goodness! I miss two days and we have a new thread and already on page 7!:scared1: I have a lot of catching up to do.

I've been busy for a couple of days with my homework and completing my transfer papers to the University of Washington; if I'm accepted only two more years and I graduate . When I went to the other page, everyone had moved . Glad I found the new page. I would've missed reading about everyones WDW preparations and all their great finds.

I promise I won't stay away so long next time.

Anyone military on this thread? My father in law is retired Air Force and I just found out about Shades of Green and the military discount for tickets.

DH really wants to get his family to Disney and this might be the way to do it...but I wonder if anyone's taken advantage of the discounts and what their experiences were.

So fellow september travelers....while planning this september trip I had never heard of the MNSSHP, as I am a Disney virgin! But hearing y'all talk about it I would like more info. What happens exactly? How much does it *typically* cost? We do not have a specific park planned on 9/16 (leaving it open to see what the girls want to do) and that seems to be a day that they are going to offer it.

Other than that you are all so creative! I am going to try the bleach pen shirts for our AK day. I am wierd in that I want us all to match so the pictures dont look odd. I already have our outfits planned! I just need to buy and make the stuff!

You also turned me on to the pick a pearl in japan! I thought it would be cool if we did the pick a pearl before going to Akershus and having one of the princesses give the girls the cage necklace...but alas our ADR is at 9:15 and I think that would be pushing the time slot just a bit!

AHHH!!! Less than 5 months!!!:scared1:

We colored Easter eggs yesterday with DD1.....Disney style. Just wanted to share:

We had a blast last year at MNSSHP!
There are dance parties
Special characters are out that you can't always meet (Seven Dwarves)
Trick or Treating
Cinderella's Carriage is out (great photo op)
Characters are dressed in costume (Donald was a pumpkin...daisy was a princess)
Villian Mix n Mingle Show
Hallowishes fireworks (amazing!!!!!)
Boot to You Halloween parade (two times during party...the headless horseman leads in the parade. My husband who isn't a huge Disney fan LOVED this parade!)

Plus there are virtually no lines for the rides...at least at September parties. :thumbsup2

I feel like the tickets were less than $60 for adults last year, but I can't remember exactly. I bet we could find it on an old thread or something.

We love picking pearls! I've done it on each trip, and we did it twice last year! :rotfl:

Wahoo for less than 5 months for you!!!!

Your DD is so cute and I love the eggs I haven't colored Easter eggs in years since my DS's were little and no grandbabies yet. Did not even know they had Diseny Egg coloring :thumbsup2

I finished on of my daughter's pillowcase dresses for one of our Magic Kingdom days. She loves it! :lovestruc

I would say cutting and sewing was about an hour...

Sewing on that Mickey head took FOREVER! I did it by hand...and not "by hand" as they describe on the Disboutique...I mean really by hand! :rotfl: It kept moving and then the ears were all crazy. I should have put stabilizer or something behind it. I still need to make one for my youngest, so maybe next time it will go a little smoother. ;)

Thanks for all of the kind words everyone!!!!

Basketkat~your dress is awesome!!! Wish I were as talented, but I am not so that is why I rely on Michelle (fortheloveofdcl) to do my sewing projects. She is really good at it:thumbsup2
I was reading through the Dis today and just found out about the Pirate League. I really didnt know what it was and now I am sad that I hadn't heard about it sooner:guilty:. My girls are going to be pirates for the MNSSHP and what a great idea it would have been for them to do this. I called and ofcourse the day we will be in MK for the party, it is all booked up. The cast member told me I could call back as someone may cancel. Oh well, I guess Michelle will just have to do their makeup also...she is really good at doing that too!!!!;)

Flatery will get you no where

Thank you, I was just confusing myself:rotfl: Thinking" Ok did I respond to that, or which one was that person on":lmao: Old age!!:confused3

oh of course as a competition dance mom I am interested in watching her fabulous performances. :lovestruc Awesome that at 5 she has solo's. I see a competition dancer in ur midst!! Stage presence(why does that not look rt) is 70% of the battle. That makes up for any mess ups cause they connect with the judges with their stage presence. Syd never freezes or forgets, her only problem is occassionally getting ahead of count:eek: Not sure how ready they are this yr. This comp is 3 wks earlier then the city we normally go to. Also Syd's dance team isn't the ones in the Studio every day 3 hrs a day(except this wk) like most studios we go up against. Her dance teacher believes they need to have a childhood and also partake in other sports if they choose. I hear the other studios yelling at their kids in the halls. Do we place fairly well, Yes but we don't always take home first...which is fine....it's all in the experiences!! And I rather Syd be able to do other things she loves as well:thumbsup2

Sleep well.....TTYL

I've been battling a nasty sinus infection all week and extra sleep!!! So, I'm just now getting back to this. ;) I never competed in Star Power. I usually competed in Showbiz, Star Systems, Applause, Kids of America (or something like that, lol). I'm sure there was more, but I can't remember the names offhand. Those were usually the ones that made it to our area for regionals.....and then we usually did Showbiz and Star Systems for nationals because they were always in the best locations. :goodvibes (Daytona Beach, Virginia Beach, etc.) It's AMAZING how some of those dancers perform out East!!! I think some of them were BRED for dancing!

Do you guys ever go to dance conventions? Nobody in our studio does anymore (Mikella dances at the same studio where I grew up dancing and taught!). The owner (who was MY instructor) says she'd love to still go to conventions, but nobody can afford them anymore and she says most of the girls are in so many other sports these days that they just aren't as "commited" to dance as WE used to be. I LOVED convention weekends. Fun!! :upsidedow

I will still post Mikella's solos from last Sunday when I get a chance!
