Gee, Wic, ja think that ever occurred to me? I swear these examples are real.

One time I tried to MAKE him vacumn and he accidentally dropped the vacumn down the stairs and broke it.

Another time I needed the front porch light fixture cleaned. It had bugs on it so he knocked it on the concrete floor to get them off. Surprise, it broke.

He has forgotten to pick me up at the hospital when I was in after nearly dying.

He has refused to bring me a drink of water when I was bedridden on the grounds that he is a man and does not do 'housework'.

I could tell more stories but it would go from the sublime to the ridiculous.

Since he will offer to bring me a drink etc. if we have company I think that the next DIS meet we have we should ALL ask him very sweetly to get us a drink, one at a time, all night long. Then he might see what my days are like. :lmao:

Honestly he is truly incapable of doing some things but many others he could do, as I have seen, if he wanted to. It is perplexing exactly where the line is and since he is not able to change I am contemplating writing a book about my marriage and making millions of dollars making people laugh at what they think are my 'jokes'. :coffee:

I could then hire someone to take care of him and we would be both be in a perfect marriage.

Slightly Goofy (who needs frequent computer breaks)

:scared1:

Oh my god SG, has he always been like this? My first husband sounds like he must have been a long distant relative of your husband! Notice I said first husband! :rotfl2: I put up with that for 2-1/2 years and said I'm outta here...go home to your mother!

I'd go on the December vacation without him! :thumbsup2

Okay Gals,

The GLOW girls are talking about the Sept FD return 08. Wouldn't it be fun if we could all get our dates close this year:banana: We could have a MOJITO GLOWS AGAIN 2008 party :rotfl:

I blame it all on youthful errors. Yep, he has always been like this. I should have known I was in trouble when my mil loved me from the start. (I loved her right back too) I got him out of her house (he was 38) and he did give up drinking and dating for me so if that was not love what did I know??:confused3

BTW, my FIRST husband was much worse. Enquirer articles worse so this one seemed like a good thing for a couple of decades. Retirement brings out the worst in all of us. If any of your husbands plan to retire go right out and get yourself a job and save what romance you might still have left. Absense does make the heart go fonder.

Ummm, Phyllis Diller did quite well writing about her husband did she not? She even once said that his divorce settlement was alright because he was the one who gave her all her material.

It is just made much worse cause, I, myself, have NO bad habits at all!! :snooty:

Slightly Goofy who will be doing autographs

Oh we'll definately be there next year! I'm just waiting now for the FD info to come out next April, that is when it was announced last year right????

I'm 6 years older than my hubby, and he HAS to retire from his job no later than 55...so that would put me pretty close to retirement! His "golden" years plan for us is to buy a motor home and go and follow the NASCAR circuit! :scared:

None of us Dis'er have bad habits! :snooty: We're all perfect angels....but you already knew that! :rotfl2:

wic0721, now is that your idea of a dream retirement too? If not, I would just send him off and daydream about his occasional visits. Mini honeymoons. Sounds like a plan to me!!

I am 14 years younger and much more mature than my hubby. :rotfl2:

Our AP's expire the first week of September so it is not likely that we would be back at DW the end of the month. Maybe some of you really dedicated DISers will be there some other time that we will be there? Anyone have a husband with a high tolerance that would want to visit with my dh while you and I go over to the GF for high tea? That has always been a dream of mine but I dare not take dh because when they bring out all that 'lady' food he would pitch a b**ch! Gotta have a slab of red meat. Of course, if I told him it cost a hundred dollars a sandwich he might go for it! That is how I got him to eat caviar. He did not like the taste until I told him what it was and how much it cost. :rotfl:

I knew you all were perfect but I know myself too well and am not nearly that deluded. :rolleyes1

Well unfortunately no, that's not really how I pictured my retirement years! But I do love camping, and I can always read a book and have a few cocktails while he's watching the races! I'm only going to be 61, so I won't be too old to party with other race fans! I told my husband my only requirements on the trailer...queen size bed, full bathroom with/shower! I heard there was a 5 hour wait for the showers at one of the races this year!

I also plan on making him take me places I want to go too......it's not just his retirement, I need to have some fun too! :woohoo:

Wic, it sounds as if you guys can make a go of that kind of vacation. It is nice to share things but I do not think you have to share everything cause then neither person is going to be happy.

We have a few fantastic races in my neck of the woods so if you should ever want to go to a 500, Kentucky Derby or see Tony Stewart eat an ice cream at Dairy Queen just let me know. You can park here and I have loads of extra bedrooms.

I sit and read in all sort of situations.

SG

SG,
You are a trip. I would buy your book too then when I am feeling blue I could pick it up and laugh my A#$ off. I would want your signature too. Too bad you weren't looking for a tollerant DH to babysit your DH on our trip in September because my DH would have been the perfect candidate. They could have both sat around and talked truck engines and been content while we went for tea. lol My DH was in the room sleeping while we were talking at the glow party or he would have entertained you DH and loved it too. He is extremely social and finds the littlest things hilarious. Maybe another time though.

Kelliblue,
We are going bounceback earlier this year 8/30-9/8 so I will probably miss a lot of people. It was too hard on my son that we went later in September right when school started to really immerse the kids with learning and lots of homework this year and the dates I picked will be right when they first start and still settling in with little homework. Maybe some disers will be there early because AP's will expire early. I will keep my fingers crossed.

Pooh,
I read about the ring and got so excited till I came here and read it was a ring you bought yourself. At least you got exactly what you wanted in a ring though.

Wic,
I would love to have camper and travel for retirement even if it involved Nascar. My DH tells me he is working till he dies and never plans to retire. Bad thing is that means I will be traveling alone for many years to come but the good thing is he will never be home enough to really get on my nerves. lol

Timmie,
You are still in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry you have so much time to anticipate the surgery which is the worst. If you do have any thoughts about adoption and want to talk about it feel free to PM me. My son was adopted and he really is the biggest blessing in my life.

Angela

angwill, NOW you tell me that you have a tolerant hubby. You would not have even had to wake him up. Tom would have gladly sat there and talked to him while he slept. Just his favorite conversation, all about him with no interruptions!! :thumbsup2 Since my dh made Cummins engines it would have been a conversation that they could have. Not sure how many engines he actually made since I had to get a 30 foot phone cord (for you youngsters, phones used to be tethered to the earpiece) to handle the myriad and lengthy phone calls to make sure I was where I was supposed to be and doing what I was supposed to do. If they had had cell phones back in those days I could have gotten into some serious trouble??? :dance3: Warning, my hubby finds nothing hilarious and thinks folks who smile look retarded. Man did HE marry wrong!!

Since I am the cheapest woman alive (been called that many times by many people) I may forget the pains of this last Free Dining and book in again the dates that you are talking about cause our AP's expire Sept 9th and I hate to waste anything. Also I have a handful of those one day passes to use up as well. Never say never. Okay, I say it but I 'never' mean it. :rolleyes1

I have a workbench in the garage to clean out now so that I have a place to start putting all my potted plants for the winter. I am too cheap to buy new ones each year. I also save my seeds. Nothing says Indiana like seeing a geranium bloom through the glass in the middle of February. It is an awesome sight and reminds me that Spring will come again! :flower3:

Slightly Goofy

I did remember you saying your DH made truck engines so that is what I was sure they would find in common to talk about. Believe me even if you DH has never smiled or laughed my husband would have gotten him to. I have never met a person he hasn't gotten at least laughing at him laughing. He has this laugh that comes from deep within and he laughs so hard and so long that he turns red and can't catch his breath. Believe me my mother only laughs when my DH is around and if he can get her laughing he could make your DH think that he himself just joined all us retards (if that is what he calls us) who laugh.

Please consider coming down the beginnin of September I would love to meet up with you again. You are just a wealth of knowledge and a fountain of sunshine. I know I need to have a serious talk with that too serious daughter of yours who thinks you are lame and explain that if she doesn't get with the program and start learning from you she will turn out just like your DH. lol

Oh yeah, I too save all my pots in the garage to use from year to year. I too am el Cheapo that is how I afford Disney trips. I have also rubbed off on my son who won't spend his money on anything unless it's on sale or clearance. He will instruct me to watch the clearance isles and newspaper for him and let him know when what he wants goes on sale. Poor child I have warped his mind. lol

Angela

Angwill, I honestly cannot remember my husband ever laughing out loud. Until after we were married he hardly ever talked even. Can I claim fraud this late in the game? Just wondering. He can talk very nicely if he wants to. I love to listen when he is talking to others cause I do not remember a darned thing he says he has done. I was shocked to find out that he was a famous bass guitar player at one of the EPCOT concerts. I did not know he knew how to turn on the radio, in fact I know he does not know how cause I do it for him. :confused3

I not only save my pots but I trim back the plants in them and save them to put back out the following year. I also plant a whole lot of food stuff in among my many flower beds cause I am too cheap to pay for that many plants. Want any peppers? I just picked a peck and have about ten more out there. What a 'pickle' we could get into!!

I also buy windshield wiper fluid and refill my bottles with it instead of buying expensive window cleaner. I know how to make my own cleaning supplies from simple supplies but got spoiled with my many years of refunding when I did not pay a cent for food or household supplies for many years.

My children are much like me (in some ways) and get more so each year but would never want to admit it. I find it shocking as well as I was hoping for new, improved models. Gotta love 'em though.

I enjoyed meeting you and the other GLOW folks as well. I could not believe how late I was able to stay that one night and if I had not looked at my watch I might still be there. I do not get out and about with real people much nowadays. I even communicate with friends and neighbors that live nearby with my computer.

Sounds as though you have life figured out. Live simple, less stress, more fun. Ever notice though that when we budget it always is the woman who has to do MORE work though? Ummm, something not quite right about that one.

You are right about the 'fountain of sunshine' as I spout off a whole lot!! Everything I know I learned at my mother's knee, and other 'joints'.

Workbench all cleared off. I have to finish picking peppers. Easier than processing them all though. Will taste good this winter. Gotta think of the future NOW!! :woohoo:

I am now considering staying at POP for the first time. Maybe you all will let me play with your kids? I like watching them. They are just so darned 'real'. I am going to Grandparents Day for some of my little friends the first part of November. I am hard pressed to understand grandparents who are never available for such things. Children before coladas is my motto. Never had a colada in my life.

Gee, I just ramble and ramble. Is why God created the 'delete' button. I am used to talking to myself. No worries!

Later, Linda Lou/SG

Morning!

Hey SG, you can tell you grandson if he asks, that the Red Sox beat the Rockies 13 to 1 last night! :woohoo:

wic0721, since you and my grandson are both rooting for the same team I am sure you are equally happy this AM. Just learned last night that my grandson has been asked to join some fancy basketball league. I am sure you might know what it is but I do not remember the initials. He is on the All Star Baseball team as well. That an an honor student. I are one proud grandma. I am also heartbroken cause I do not drive much in the winter and will not be able to attend many of his games. I never miss his baseball games. I had thought my d and sil might invite me to ride along with them but then I have always been a cockeyed optimist.:confused3

My oldest grandson came by and took me for a drive last night. How can be getting that old while I am not? I am in trouble with his mom over him. He called and asked me where I was the other night and I told him I was out winning awards. He wanted to know what for and I told him that I won one for being a 'skinny biotch" and that the first part was a lot harder for me than the second. He thought it was funny. I figured at nearly 17 it was about time he got to know his 'real' grandma. Mom did not. :rolleyes1

Go Soxs!! If they win they can take classes on how to spell. :teacher:

SG/who is off on another delightful day.

Hi SG,

So your grandson is rooting for the Red Sox, good job! Wow he's on an All-Star baseball player, and now on a I'm guessing travelling basketball team, good for him! :thumbsup2 Maybe he'll score a good scholarship to a really great college! :woohoo:

You told your other grandson that you won an award for being a "skinny biotch"? :rotfl2: You are one hot ticket! I really wish I would have been able to meet you this year!

Don't ever change, we love you just as you are!

So have you finished writing that book yet????:lmao:

wic0721, yep, it is a traveling team but in Indiana basketball is not just a sport but a religion. It is my fondest wish that Dalton get a college education. I still have the money I saved for my kids to go. They did not want to go and are paying the consequences. Dalton's ambition is to be a CEO and he keeps asking me how you get such a job. How would I know although I am the CEO and CFO around here but I am also the toilet bowl cleaner and am grossly underpaid. :rotfl:

My oldest grandson is going on 17 and I have carefully edited myself all these years so it was a carefully considered thought of mine before I expressed my comment. When around my family I just sing "Garden Party" quietly under my breath and say nothing.

Thank you so much for your approval. I would say that it is a shame that those who are close to me do not feel the same way but upon reflection I realize that they do not really know me so it is not personal. I have written my own obituary and plan revenge upon them all. :dance3:

I am too busy living my life to sit down and write that book yet. I have a full day today including picking up and taking care of grandkids. Shame I am not family, just think what I would do for them then? :grouphug:

Your kvetching friend and motormouth, SG

Wasn't that game last night just awesome??:thumbsup2

I went to bed right after the 7th inning, it was getting way to painful to watch! :lmao:

So you're having a halloween party this weekend, that's so cool. I went to one last weekend, a friend of our's got really messed up on jello shots.....it was actually quite funny! So what are you dressing up as???

Pooh, I am truly sorry that your team could not win too. I am competitive on some things but not so much on baseball games. ;)

I used to give big Halloween parties but mine consisted of blood and gore since they were always for kids. Cold, slimy spaghetti were intestines and peeled grapes were eye balls. Everything is different in the dark ya know? I still have pictures of all those parties. Now I plan for between 2-300 trick or treaters and pray for good weather so I can sit on the front porch while giving them out. I also bake 1-200 homemade cookies for all the adults. Come on by!!:grouphug:

BTW, I done plumb forgot to thank your dbf for keeping my hubby entertained at the party. It made it possible for me to hear most, if not all, of what others were saying.

How do you fix your "crap?? Boiled, braised or just plain buttered? Just curious. I am just glad that crap is not low carb or it would have to be on my diet. When writing up the menu you might rename it 'excrement' as everything tastes better with a fancier name. :dance3: Calamari, caviar, etc.
