September 2, 2012 - Magic - NYC to Canada

Hi everyone!

New fellow cruiser, just booked tonight. Celebrating DM(om)'s birthday on September 3rd. This will be our second cruise with DCL, and we're DVC.

I am DD, Nikkie, 25 at the time of sailing. Mom is celebrating her 50something'ed birthday onboard. We are native New Yorkers... we'll take the train to the port :)

We were just on the Magic to the Eastern Caribbean in April and just couldn't get enough. Also booked on the DVC Members Castaway Cay cruise in January 2013 with a stay at AKL beforehand.

Hope all is well, very excited to meet you all! Is there a Facebook group for us?

No facebook page that I know of, this group is a little slow to start but we will get going yet! :)

I'll make the facebook group and post a link in a few minutes!!!!!! Wooooooo! There's an FE going, right?

Well, we just had to push our cruise date to a dummy date late next year. We take care of my 92 year old Gma and things didn't go so well with our Gma sitter while we were on the Fantasy last week so...we need to stay home until we can find other arrangements. I'm sooo sad but what can you do.

Hope you all have a wonderful time and maybe we'll have a chance to meet on another cruise!

Btw, we were on the FE list so don't forget to remove us. Sorry, to make it even smaller.

We are doing Palo brunch on day 5. We are doing Peggy's Cove and Titanic (adults only), and St. John Highlights (adult only) tours.

88 days!!

We are doing both excursions as well! My In-Laws will be with my husband and I....(and I don't mean this as a bad thing - I love my in-laws!) :thumbsup2

I hope there's going to be a meet!! We did talk about meeting in the promenade lounge. Is that still a go??

Promenade lounge sounds fine! What time had we agreed on?

We now have everything booked, Palo and our excursions. Doing Palo brunch on day 2 and dinner on day 4. Anybody else going to Palo on the cruise?
For excursions we are doing Peggy's Cove in Halifax and the St. Martins tour in Saint Johns. What everybody else doing??

We have Palo brunch, and yesterday we spontaneously added Palo dinner too. For excursions, we are also doing Peggy's Cove, and the Saint Martins and Bay of Fundy Adults.

We were going to do one of them! I hope it doesnt get cancelled!

Good to hear we are not the only ones ... Which one were you looking at specifically? Or would you be happy with any of them?

Hi Nikkie, welcome to our thread which has been a bit slow but does seem to be picking up now!

We were thinking about doing the land and sea one. We are going to Central Park before the cruise and Top of the Rock. We were at the Seaport for 45 mins with my daughter's class and I wanted to spend more time there.

We were thinking about the one going to the Museum of Natural History, but would also be interested in the land and sea one instead.

What I'm going to do is go to Guest Services pretty soon after the cruise starts (will be onboard already as we're doing b2b) and ask about these excursions, and if they say they won't be happening, ask them to start a waitlist (or if there already is one, put us on it).

That's going to be our first stop once we get on board! I too would be up for any of them really!

So sorry to hear you are canceling. :-( Hope you can find more suitable arrangements for your grandmother next time. Good elder care can be hard to come by.

If you do not mind me asking, how many people would you be going on the excursion with? There's only two of us, but if I knew that you were a really large party, it would make me feel a bit more confident about the excursion not getting cancelled :thumbsup2

There is 3 of us.

There is 3 of us.

Okay great, so we have 5 people already, with apparently a total of 15 needed. Come on, ten people, you do so want to join us on the post-cruise excursion! :thumbsup2 :lmao:

Great news we will be on the same excursions!! Really starting to get excited about this cruise!!

When is your Palo times?

Not sure if we have come up with a time for the meet. On our last cruise we all met at 3pm in the lounge.

i've lived in NYC my whole life and Top of the Rock is HANDS DOWN the best view of the city ever. Takes my breath away everytime.

We did Palo dinner already, thinking of doing the Brunch this time. Is it worth it?

Also got first seating this time so we're not SOOOO tired after dinner that we just fall asleep. We hardly went to the bars etc and want to experience that this time around! :)
