Hi, I only just learned what an FE list is today. May I join?

It's only myself and my son, 7 years old. Room 7541.

Thank you.[/QUOTE]

We'll do the FE too. We're Fran (50's) and Nikkie (25) in room 7626 :)

Cool, we'll see you on both excursions then! Our Palo dinner is on Halifax night, and the brunch on the final sea day.

3pm sounds like a good time to meet! That's when we met on our two prior cruises too, and that worked well.

Hmm, now I'm starting to get confused again. I have been so unsure about whether to do Top of the Rock or Empire State Building, asked about it in another thread a while ago and all the answers I received were clearly in favour of Empire State Building. Would you really say The Rock is better?
(sigh) Back to planning Stage One, then ... :rotfl2:

Oh, and absolutely do make a reservation for Palo brunch - it is wonderful!

Yep - and now we've all started, there's no stopping us! :thumbsup2

As a New Yorker, the Top of the Rock is a prettier (of the two) view, but the Empire State Building is more iconic than Rock Cent (unless you like NBC a lot lol) ... I say go for TOTR because the pictures are better. and because rock cent is prettier to walk around than 34th street :)

With these incredible pictures (thank you for sharing, Evad!) and your advice, you have convinced me and I can finally stop planning back and forth :)

Top of the Rock it is going to be! :yay:

Do you think we are going to be fine just showing up with no prebooked tickets?

What is everyone's dinning time? We have first seating.

We are on late dining. Have never tried early, but were very happy with late.

Hello fellow DISers! Finally checking in and saying hello myself!:coffee:

My dh, bigferrell, has been chatting with you, and I have been lost in the background, probably chasing down children! lol

So excited now that the cruise is almost here! :hourglass Looking forward to meeting everyone, and appreciate the Facebook group as well for chatting!

Thinking of what to do for the Fish Extenders as those are always a blast! Since our group is not huge, I may just attempt to get creative!

Have a fantastic day everyone! :wave2:

Yay!! From what everyone said here we made the right choice :thumbsup2

I think so but I bought ours already! I choose 6:30pm to linger and get some sunsetting photos!

Yes, there are always guys walking around selling the tickets right next to where the ice skating rink is during Christmas, up the stairs. In September, the rink is a restaurant. While you're there, also go one avenue east for 5th Avenue (up 5-6 blocks for Tiffany, up 8 blocks for the Apple Store, Plaza, and the 59th Street entrance of the park)... from Rockefeller you can also walk to Times Square (starting one avenue west between 40th-50th streets)

Also thanks so much everyone for the comments on the pics. I have more from our trip if anyone is interested, if not I wont post any more. Thanks.

Thank you for all your good advice! You know, you have just made me feel like I'm the perfect planner! :goodvibes
Why? Because I had worked out a plan yesterday on how to get to Top of the Rock, and I had planned to walk from our hotel on Times Square to Rockefeller Center, and then back down along 5th Avenue, and now this is exactly what you are saying! :worship:

Let me ask you one or two further questions on this plan though:
Would it be more interesting walking up to 50th St (coming from Times Square) on 7th Avenue, or on 6th?
And is New York Library and the adjoining park nice to look at, in that it would be worth the detour coming back down 5th Ave on our way back to Times Square?

Your photographs are so wonderful, I really love that "more-real-than-real" colourful style (whatever it may be technically called, I readily admit I'm far from an expert). I would love to see some more of your NYC pictures if you don't mind posting them!

Wow Dave, How do you take such photos?

BtW, we are on main seating for dining...

Dave, your photos are amazing! I'm a Nikon user as well although I don't think I've ever taken pictures quite so spectacular!! Please keep posting them! :thumbsup2
