Hello and welcome to the Disboard! I have two boys, my oldest is 6 so that isnt too far from your son. My youngest is 3.

My countdown calendar says that we have now entered the 40's! Yipee Not too far now!

Michelle, I got you added to the FE list above. As to any tips, for our first cruise with DD (who was 3 at the time) we got her a basket from Shirley and it turned out very cute (but a little on the pricey side - - I think it ended up being about $75 with everything). The next year we just bought her a sand bucket and sand toys from the dollar store and stuffed it with games, snacks, crayons, puzzles, and other fun stuff and she liked it just as much. As to FE ideas, you can really go as easy or complex as you want. When we participated last year, we got a wide range of items, but it was super fun to always have a surprise waiting for us every time we went back to our rooms. DH and I are still debating on what we want to do. We did a very involved scrapbooked keychain last year, but I'm back and forth about what to do. We always do our best work at the last minute, though.

Well, if my calculations are correct, tomorrow is the 45-day mark for our cruise. Is anyone else who's in GTY status anxious to find out their room number? I read one of the stickys over on the main board that said rooms are usually assigned between the 45 and 30 day marks. I'm hoping it's tomorrow, but knowing my luck, I'll have to wait!! I also went online just to check and see what categories were still left for our cruise, and the only thing left open to book are the verandah rooms. It looks like we're going to have a pretty full ship.

I would think its very promisng for an upgrade if the lower categories are sold out. We so debated on whether or not to book a GTY room this cruise, but since we are doing the back-to-back, we decided it would less hassle to book the same stateroom for each leg of the cruise instead. Now, I'm kinda regretting that decision.

Here's hoping you guys get the verandahs that are available.

Wow, that is great news! This is my first cruise ever and I wasn't sure how it all worked. Is there any way to change your status to GTY under your reservations? I know I can upgrade if I wanted to pay more. But, I'm hopeful & confident based on your comment! Thanks!!

My husband & I have cruised many times on other ships but this is our first family/disney cruise! I think I am more excited than my kids! Looks like we don't have much longer to wait. Is there any way to change your status to GTY under your reservations?

I think since we're past the 90 day mark, DCL would charge you to make changes to your reservation. I'm not 100% sure, though, so if you really want to do it, call your travel agent to confirm. Good luck!

Oh, I didn't want to change my reservation. I was asking that question for you bc you said you kinda regretted booking a specific stateroom. Sorry for the confusion!

WELCOME!! It's great to have another Georgia family cruising with us!! My DH and I are kidless, but we are in love with DCL, (and most all things Disney for that matter), and I think your family will like it as well!

Hey everyone! Great to meet other Disney Lovers like me! This will be my family's first cruise. My hubby and I have four kids (10, 9, 5 and 4)! We're super excited about going on the DCL! We are DVC members and live in Florida so we go to WDW about every 3-4 months! My husband's best friend's family is also coming on the cruise and they have a 5 year old as well. We were able to book Palo, CC sting ray, and Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter! We would love to participate in the FE! Our room number is 2602!

I was just struggling with Shirley v. packing up my own thing. I got him some darling things at World Market and I think the price might be a bunch better if I do it myself, but I know Shirley has 10% off through Aug 12 - in case any of you want to take advantage of that.
