Suzie,
I have attended this event 4 times in the past few years. I really like this event because all the villians are out for photos.
We found the waits to minimal for the rides and the parade, fireworks and main street lighting effects were awesome.
If you have any particular question would be glad to answer.

Thanks again for the great info from everyone!! :goodvibes

Evening all! It's been a LONG day! We left LA yesterday @4pm eastern time and will be in Atlanta at @5am. We hope to get a load out of Atlanta to the Northwest but who knows!

I just skimmed the pages and I have a few opinions on some posts:

:cheer2: Welcome new people! Glad to have ya! :cheer2:

Elaine, Anderson Cooper is smokin' hot but unfortunately Kevin has a better chance with him than I do :confused3 FYI did you know that he is Gloria Vanderbilt's son? (yes THAT Vanderbilt, clothing designer and well known American family name) I found that interesting since he does so many GREAT things and he doesn't even have to financially speaking. :thumbsup2 :goodvibes

Buttertarts- Ok, I want some of these RIGHT NOW! I'm drooling...
Don't know what else I missed, I'm really flippin tired, ever been so tired you can't sleep?

Sorry to hear about your plants. We tried to have a very small garden this year and just as my tomato plants were full of beauutiful little tomatoes along come the deer and "CHOMP" they were gone. Same for DS's sunflowers that he started growing in school. As soon as they had flowers they were eaten. :furious:
Go to your hairdresser and ask for some hair! Seriously! As a former hairdresser I had several of my green-thumbed clients ask me to save the hair I cut in garbage bags that they brought me. They scattered the hair around the perimeter of their garden and the deer wouldn't go near it! Try it! They pick up the human scent and stay away!

On another note, I would just like to thank everyone on this board for all of your input. I joined kind of at the last and was welcomed with open arms! I will be very sad when there is no countdown left. Sometimes, with my crazy job and life, this meet board is the only thing that keeps me smiling! ThankYou and I look forward to meeting all of you! :goodvibes

I have heard about that book! I need to read it. I find him absolutely fascinating! The day Kev ad I got married (Sept 9,05) I watched on TV him stand on the side of the freeway in Louisiana and try to get those people help. I was numb with grief, and I have respected that man ever since because at any given time he could've just walked away and he cared enough not to. Moving :goodvibes
Buttertarts, here I come!

Just a few minutes ago I learned of a prayer mission our church sent to China that was arrested while conducting a Christian gathering. NOW that is serious stuff to some extent. A 2nd email already noted the team was released after being held longer then the other 50 Christians who were gathered - but the messages conveyed were very very brief and urgent in conveying they were safe but could not talk more.

Captain Crash,
We will keep these missionaries in our prayers. We take these kind of Freedoms way to for granted here. :grouphug:
Vickie

Freedom_Is_Not_Free.gif

Thanks for your prayers...

This evening we had a "send off" party for a family that was leaving to relocate to Texas. We had a pretty well developed deal with a photo slide collage (I made it) spanning the last half decade of events and activities they were involved in, plus prayers, food and roasting... and a photo session at the end. I'm shooting family portraits as well as a huge group shot of the gathered congregation this evening.

No new word was available on our missionaries. They were arrested and held with EVERYONE. Then a few hours later we got a cryptic and curt "they were safe but could not talk more". Some of us were slightly suspicious of that and were conerned what really was going on. It seems they were very very afraid of being watched somehow. It is a mystery and we just are intensely praying for their well eing as well as the well being of their charges. AND even I'll be prayer for the salvation of those misguided few who arfe involved with repressing our friends, brothers and sisters in China.

You're right too about our taking for granted our various freedoms. A huge consideration that billions around the world do NOT enjoy.

With warmest thanks again,

Tom

I just knew he was TOO good to be true. :sad2: Oh well, more power to him. Although here's a story that I will pass on tongue-in-cheek: True - I was actually there to hear it: :teeth:

Several years ago I was a a co-worker's party when her sister and her significant other were 'discussing' Michael Crawford, as he was getting ready to leave Phantom. Anyway, her significant other stated, "Oh Michael, that man's voice just melts me :faint: and he's also the only man in this whole world who I would leave you and turn straight for. :sad2:

To which someone replied, "But only after you straightened him out!"

OK - lost in the translation, but it sounded good at the time. Although I have to admit, his Christmas album is a standard classic around my house. His voice truly is to die for! If anyone passes by our house around Xmas, just listen for the sounds of 'Oh Holy Night.' :cloud9:

OK I don;t want to alarm anyone but....

‘Crocodile Hunter’ Steve Irwin dies

Environmentalist, 44, killed by a stingray on diving expedition

CAIRNS, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the “Crocodile Hunter,” was killed Monday by a stingray while filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.

Irwin was killed by a stingray barb to the heart on Batt Reef, off the remote resort town of Port Douglas in northeastern Queensland state, his wildlife park Australia Zoo said in a statement.

Crew members aboard Irwin’s boat, Croc One, called emergency services in the nearest city, Cairns, and administered CPR as they rushed the boat to nearby Low Isle to meet a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced Irwin dead a short time later, the statement said.

Irwin was famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchword “Crikey!” in his television program “Crocodile Hunter,” which was first broadcast in Australia in 1992 and has aired around the world on the Discovery channel.

He rode his image into a feature film, and developed the Australia Zoo as a tourist attraction.

“The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest dads on the planet,” John Stainton, Irwin’s friend and producer, said in the statement. “He died doing what he loves best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. Crocs Rule!”

Cultural ambassador

Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, who used a photograph of his family at Australia Zoo for his official Christmas card last year, hailed Irwin for his work in promoting Australia through projects such as “G’Day LA,” an Australian tourism and trade promotion week in Los Angeles in January.

“The minister knew him, was fond of him and was very, very appreciative of all the work he’d done to promote Australia overseas,” Downer’s spokesman Tony Parkinson said.

Irwin’s dedication to conservationist causes led him to become a vocal critic of wildlife hunts in Australia. The federal government recently dropped plans to allow crocodile safaris for wealthy tourists in the Northern Territory following his vehement objections.

Irwin told the Australian television program “A Current Affair” that “killing one of our beautiful animals in the name of trophy hunting will have a very negative impact on tourism, which scares the living daylights out of me.”

However, Irwin had also received negative publicity in recent years. In January 2004, he stunned onlookers at the Australia Zoo reptile park by carrying his month-old son into a crocodile pen during a wildlife show. He tucked the infant under one arm while tossing the 13-foot reptile a piece of meat with the other.

Authorities declined to charge Irwin for violating safety regulations.

Later that year, he was accused of getting too close to penguins, a seal and humpback whales in Antarctica while making a documentary. Irwin denied any wrongdoing, and an Australian Environment Department investigation recommended no action be taken.

He is survived by his American wife Terri, from Eugene, Ore., and their daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.

The couple met when she went on vacation in Australia in 1991 and visited Irwin’s Australia Zoo; they were married six months later. Sometimes referred to as the Crocodile Huntress, she costarred on her husband’s television show and in the 2002 movie, “The Crocodile Hunters: Collision Course.”

Stingrays have flat bodies and tails with serrated spines, which contain venom and can cause cuts and puncture wounds. The creatures are not aggressive and injury usually occurs when a swimmer or diver accidentally steps on one.

Good Morning everyone:

Back from WDW - the crowds were not too bad at all. Only went into Epcot to eat at LeCellier. Wasn't as good this time as previous times. The food was actually cold and we had to send it back. Don't know what their problem was.

Stayed at VWL, which is the greatest.

Met some friends who we cruised with a couple of times last year and had a good time with them and then met up with some other friends.

Guess we have about 12 days or so before we cruise. It is actually upon us now. Yea yea

So many posts, can't catch up on them. But I know there must have been lots of conversation going back and forth.

HOPE ALL HAVE A GOOD MONDAY HOLIDAY

Good Morning everyone! Last night we finished packing. Now we just have a few days of work and we're off. Can't wait to see everyone in about 12 days :cool1: :cool1: :goodvibes

Very sad - prayers to his family.

We swam with the stingrays while in Grand Cayman last December - I even held a tail (with barb) up for the video. That barb was about 4 or 5 inches long as I remember. I would do it again in a heartbeat - it was awesome experience.

Good morning everyone,

I have to start packing but I work best under pressure so I'll probably pack a couple of days before we leave. This thread is addictive. :goodvibes I read the first 25 pages and the last 100 pages and the newsletters. I learned so much from the Newsletters. :surfweb: Thanks for doing all the great work so we can have fun. party:

Not long until we :sail: :sail: :woohoo:

Looking forward to meeting everyone :rainbow:
