We used to go out there until we witnessed a guy get shot when he wouldn;t give up his pink slip when he lost the race. :sad2:

crazy the things we used to see out there, races for 10K+ I guess it doesn;t really matter when it is just drug money

hope no one is offended by that statement but that was really the case

at least in Ontario you just had to deal with the cow smell that came up from Norco :rotfl2:

now all the streets by the airport in Ontario are temporarily closed from Fri thru Sun, it's just as well, now the overwhelming majority are a bunch of rice burnin pocket rockets. We saw a bunch of them caravaning one night, not a single musclecar....so sad! :sad2:

Hey y'all - late night for me again. I second or third or whatever the sentiment of where's everybody. Must be the holiday weekend. We went to pin trading night at DLR and there were almost no regulars there. It was scary - loaded up on some new lanyards though - hope this time I do something with them. :teeth: I usually place them on my boards and admire them. Except this time, maybe I'll bring them to WDW w/us.

PIT - I used to live in Compton for the 1st 10 yrs of my life. Off of Willowbrook and Rosecrans. Each weekend night starting Friday was a designated "race" night and my father would lock us in starting at 6:30 pm. I lived there from '66-'76. I once took my DH to 'visit' my old stomping ground and he couldn't take it - he flipped out and only made it as far as the railroad tracks. :rotfl: I got a good laugh out of that. However, as you said during the day it isn't bad and I did jury duty there in June - they have actually cleaned up the place - I was impressed - for Compton that is.

CC - we also have no plans this weekend, must be because we're sailing in about 2 weeks time - couldn't quite justify another weekend in Vegas. That and I didn't want to take a chance on losing everyone's gifts. :lmao:

Anyway, dropped off my 2 babies at the Country club and made sure that they are having their yappy hour each night with other spoiled pooches along with their private play time and ice cream. Ive felt so bad for them because I usually play with them each day but because of the surgery and recovery time, didn't want to jeopardize myself. I told myself that they will be ok - at least they will have others to play with - that and my Isis is in heat and for some strange reason (I have no idea why - :rolleyes1 ) she gets rather moody and depressed - I swear sometimes acts more human than I do. That's ok - she fits right in. :rotfl2:

PIT - had to laugh at a somewhat similar situation, we're merging onto the fwy when DH rolled the window down (one of the dogs broke wind) and Isis ran to the window and stuck her head out - while I'm reaching back to make sure she's buckled in - I was able to witness the driver next to us almost swerve and hit the car next to them when this wolf-like head pops out of the window. I just saw his hand go to his chest and burst out laughing. Guess he'll think twice next time he decides not to let us in as we're merging. :lmao: It's moments like that that make me laugh.

Oh well - time for another post as I have TONS to catch up to CC

Ivan, there is a thread on the main Cruise page about Door magnets.8X10. Simply they are magnets that people make and put on their Stateroom Doors for fun and they help ya find your room. LOL Hope that helps....

Travel Tip: Check your flight reservation often, as the airlines do change times adn equipment. I do it weekly.

Thank you to all that PM'd me and offered to answer my questions - I REALLY appreciate it! All of my general questions have been answered.

I think a few of you didn't fully understand what I was trying to say. I totally understand jokes, updates and banter between the group - getting to know new people, or keeping caught up with friends. I take no issue with that at all. And I'm certainly not worried that anyone has any devious plans, or a "secret society."

Point well taken - you can't "label" everyone in a group by the behavior of just a few. And hopefully those few are not even on this sailing. I am QUITE aware that this is only an internet site, and I do not take it too seriously. I just posted my frustrations and concerns - I figured that some would take it as a personal attack, but it was not meant that way. I am very active on several internet boards, and have met many of the posters from several of them. One bunch formed a group to travel somewhere together, and many were truly obnoxious - getting a bad reputation, which also sucked a few people into that reputation that didn't belong there...I know how it happens.

There are lots of funloving people in this group, with interesting stories and good information to share.

Thank goodness for Tracy's newsletters - they are WONDERFUL! Thank you Tracy! I hope that by reading those, I have caught up on what I need to know. And I guess you are right - the "meet" thread should actually be the chatter thread. I should go out to the main boards to post my questions. Thank you for pointing that out. Sometimes it does help to speak your mind - you get good advice!

The board seems to have slowed some - but maybe it is just due to the holiday weekend? So I'll take a chance and post a question here and come back to look for the answer. Since this is tied to this sailing, I figured I'd get a better answer here than on the main boards.

- Bubba Mugs - is there anyone in Minnesota that has found one? And if so, where? I looked at their online site, and brought up every supplier listed online, but non of them have them for sale online. I work ridiculous hours (my office is in my home) and rarely get out and about, except to run kids to activities. If anyone has a good idea of where I can find these I'd really appreciate it.

Bubba Mugs - have you checked Wal-Mart? They would be in the clearance of summer merchandise. We found one, but it was smaller and we opted not to buy it. I know a few others were buying extras so maybe someone has one for you.

Kathryn in MN - Just to say I agree. You read through some of the stuff on here and you really aren't sure whether you should be scared or not! I think people just get overly excited and as said some of these people have been planning this for a year now so it is exciting.

Still I think as someone suggested, you ask questions and then people post and pm you the answers it saves trawling through pages (there has been 26 pages posted since last time I came on here) and also means if you do want to read through everything you can.

Glancing through the posts last night and this morning I saw mention of MNSSHP. Thanks. I looked it up and saw there was one on 9/15 so I booked it for DD and myself. I changed my flight in from 9/16 to 9/15 so I could go to it. Has anyone done it before? Now I can rest up on the 16th before the wine and cheese get together. lol. Staying at the All Star Music Resort since I know we will hardly be at any resort.

Thanks for the info.

Bev :sunny:

Kathryn, RE Bubba Mugs, also sent you a PM with this info but other might want to know.

Go to www.bubbakeg.com and there is a link to various outlets that sell their products.

Hey we are going shopping and Lynn has offered to bet me a new pair of Crocs, we are outta here, I hope she remembers her wallet this time. LOL

Which reminds me, Lelsie please don't forget my Bubba Mug Thanks SOOOOOO Much.

I think milestones are kewl, and I'm guilty too, but after 10,000, it seems like only thousand marks are "important", as the century marks happen daily.

The newsletter was designed to help people out for the August Repositioning Cruise. It went over so well that I was asked to do it again for this cruise.

I agree with many that we are trying to get to know eachother and many of the postings reflect that. Exchanging quick greetings, quips, etc. make it fun. Posting for the sake of getting your count up, getting to a century milestone, makes it hard to keep up.

Definitely ask your questions Kathryn. I know at least for me if there is a serious question asked and a lot of posting going on, I will PM the person asking with the answer. I want to see everyone have a great time and if that one nagging question gets answered, that will help!

Maybe to alleviate the question problem, those posting answers could PM and post so those needing answers feel they got it! You mention splitting up to a Q&A and a "Chatter" board. This is basically what the DIS did by starting a Cruise Meets Thread. This is the "Chatter" board and the main Cruise Board is the Q&A. They moved the meets over here so the regular boards wouldn't get so cluttered.

Keep in mind also if you find that certain people don't post anything you are interested in, you can always put them on ignore. You will not see anything that they posted (except of course when someone quotes them).

I have seen the posts about the "DIS" people on other boards and all I can say is it is stereotypical to lump people into a group like that. Every person in the groups in the past didn't do what people are accusing them of doing. It's usually one or two people. Yes, they may be part of a bigger group, but that gives no one the right to lump them all together. I have been on 4 DCL cruises and have never heard anything bad about the DIS people. I have only heard good things from the crew.

There is definitely no "secret society" here. I know that I know about 10 people (tops) who I have cruised with before. Many of the people I have responded to, I have never met. Yet I feel like I'm part of this group. I agree, I have never seen anything quite like it on any other cruiseline. I think that's a good thing for DCL. Don't read the stories about other sailings. I will tell you I had a blast last August and we had a couple people (part of the DIS group) that I wouldn't want to admit I know because of the things they did. I consider them an individual and I avoided them. If you find the same thing happens here, I suggest doing the same. But give everyone a chance first. Don't make a predetermination of what people will be like until you meet them.

I think things did start to get a little out of hand. I'm sure I played a part in that. I know that most of us (and hopefully you too) are very excited for this trip and just to be on vacation. I have another cruise planned, but haven't even posted on that thread about it yet. Too much excitement for this one.

Amen, Tracy. Doug and I have never sailed with any of this group but we are more excited about this cruise than any other we have been on (and that is saying something because we  cruising). The biggest reason for this is the people we have met on this board. For a change we feel like we are sailing with people we know instead of people we have to get to know. This is a great group of people who have gotten to know each other through this thread and I for one find it kind of fun to read the rantings. I just get to learn more about the people I am traveling with.

OH, we would love to do that, in fact trying to figure a date to take our grandaughter for the first time..lol. This quick trip to POP before the cruise is to meet up with some of our other disney loving friends, lol, so no MNSSHP for us on the 15th.

Enjoy MNSSHP, it is one of our favorite events at disney, besides food and wine fest..lol.

Safe travels to you and your family! :wizard:
