September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

A couple of them!

The 4th is our anniversary (was it a year ago already?) and is the day we arrive in WDW. We'll be going out to dinner that night to celebrate.

Have a Haapy Annversary then, no better place to celebrate that with the mouse. A lot of celebrations/eating of the cake will be going on this cruise!

Jackie, glad you're doing well. Take it easy and don't rush it, you'll do fine.

Welcome to the last minute cruisers.

19 days 'til we set sail!!!!

I am happy to announce that all the clothes....minus one camisole, one evening clutch and one yet to be hand washed blouse....are packed. All the Fish Extender gifts, tiaras and boas are packed.....ladies, there will be pink feathers all over the place from the boas....dress accordingly. I'm feeling ready.

Just have to do the bathroom bag, carry on bag, jewelry and accessories. My garment bag clothes are all at the cleaners. John handles the garment bag and electronics bag packing. We'll work on those things next weekend.

Not many more weekends to go. That's a good thing!:goodvibes

WOW! I am impressed! I am nowhere near ready.

I decided I was going to make sure my camera was charged (the underwater one) yesterday....I found the casing for it but not the camera itself. Now I don't know what I did with it! I haven't used it since the WBPC cruise in May of last year....where in the world could I have put it???? :confused3:confused3:confused3

That will need to be my nbr 1 mission of the week....also need to do a few more door magnets (made some for Nan :) ), do some more :laundy: & who knows what else :rotfl:

Thanks! I looked at that post on the first page - here are the details to match up for the list:
I'm Rebecca, my son is the 10 year old pirate: (nearly 11) and my daughter is the 6 year old princess: - they are both :littleangel: :littleangel: .
I think we have the late dinner and our stateroom number so far is 8502.
But now that I am reading about the possibility of getting upgrades on the day of the cruise at the port, I'm curious about what's possible.
Did I hear correctly that the Magic also runs 3D movies? :3dglasses popcorn:: That would be great - the kids would love that.
I have the craziest picture from our 3 night last year - I stood on the verandah and took a picture of the 2 kids both glued to that tiny TV set! :rotfl2:
I'm standing out there "are you SURE you want to watch that??? look out here!!!" :confused3
So I took myself out and relaxed on the balcony since I had it all to myself. But they crack me up. I decided to just let them enjoy what they wanted to enjoy at that moment even though it made no sense to me.

WELCOME!! :goodvibes
We have a 6yr old dd too w/late seating. If you want to link dining, send me a pm.

Just phoned DCL and they have the following movies listed as being shown on our cruise.
Bolt 3D
Confessions of a Shopaholic
Race to Witch Mountain
Hannah Montana the Movie
Disneynature: Earth
Up 3D
The Proposal
G-Force 3D
Ponyo

Thanks for the information. The only one I have caught yet is The Proposal, which I have actually seen twice. Very cute - and not a total chick flick either, so the guys would like it too.

Unlike myself, who seems to just throw things in the suitcase the morning of the cruise! They have washing machines on the ship! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Me too!!! :rotfl:
Regarding laundry - I thought I saw a thread somewhere recently that the washers & dryers no longer use quarters - you apparently swipe your KTTW card instead? Did anyone else catch that? However, on the cruise docs they did say that they used change......... :confused3

Yep, the machines on the Magic use your KTTW card (as well as for purchasing laundry supples). I think the Wonder will get changed over in drydock this fall. No need for that roll of quarters!

WOW! I am impressed! I am nowhere near ready.

Me too. I have sooooo much to do for this upcoming trip. A big issue was that it is a total surprise for my two and as I have been homeschooling them for all of this year, I haven't had time where the kids have not been around. That all changes today! Both kids start a new school (DD in Kinder!). It will be so weird having the house to myself! But I can start getting things prepared.

Well kids, I think I had posted a long time ago that we would have a full moon on Castway Cay day....and that is incorrect. It will be a new moon, which means it will be a great night for star gazing! :thumbsup2

Ian...full moon on your anniversary weekend!

Full moon? Very nice.

Also very nice that you and Cheri will be celebrating with us, as you guys were there for the wedding reception.

Still can't believe that we got married a year ago! Still can't believe that we celebrated our 22 year anniversary this past June. Too many anniversaries to keep track of.

Wow Deb, you are super organized :thumbsup2

Unlike myself, who seems to just throw things in the suitcase the morning of the cruise! They have washing machines on the ship! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Glad I'm not the only one! No planning here. If I forget something I will do without or purchase it.:thumbsup2

I can't pack even if I wanted to.. All our cruise clothes and suitcases are already in Florida..

I will be packing for DH & I, 2 days before we get on the ship :rolleyes1

I'll be joining the lat minute packers for this trip - I'll be doing a complete unpack / repack on the 11th.

But it was the only way to squeeze this cruise in - so it's worth it!

Good work Deb!! I'm gathering as best I can with all the work going on around me. Have things in boxes and bags, but won't pack till the day before we leave. Also have to pack things up because of changing bedrooms and getting rid of some wardrobes etc. Looks like all the building work is delayed, and the builders have started another project elsewhere and disappear for odd days now.:sad1: I'm officially stressed. They say it will be finished before we go but.....!

I just didn't want to overpack again. I started with a list of all the outfits that I'll need each day for the entire trip. I checked my list and only brought 2 extra shorts, pants, tee shirts and 1 extra dress. That's it. The rest of the clothes are accounted for each day. I only packed one suitcase though. Initially I wanted to do one land and one sea, but there was just too many crossover outfits. So I packed one suitcase and I'm done. It's got wheels and a handle so it will be easy for John to carry in and out of hotels because we're checking into two on the way down and two on the way back. It's a lot lighter than it usually is too, so it will help John too.

There's no way I could pack the last minute. I would bring way too many things.

what am I?? Chopped liver??? tru I wasn't at the wedding but will be there for this celebration :goodvibes

:lovestruc

No I was not omitting you, just reflecting back on the original wedding reception.

How could I ever forget about you. It will be wonderful to have you with us celebrating our first year.

Deb, no worries about driving and drugs, I'm off the perscription stuff! Just needed that the first 24 hours.

Oh that's good news! So you're doing better on your own not under the influence of pain killers. That's so great Jackie. Wishing you continued improvement.

Just realized I had Ian/Sukie wedding pictures on my camera that I haven't downloaded. Got to take care of that and put in a new memory card and fresh batteries. That's it for my electronics...ah for the simple life! :lmao:

It's a good thing we go on vacations at least once a year....that's probably the only way the camera gets downloaded.:laughing:

PecoBill, I HIGHLY recommend Bonine which is a brand name for meclazine. Bonine is kind of costly so all I do is ask the pharmacist at Target for travel sickness pills and get 100 for 5.00. It doesn't make us sleepy. If you want to go that route just try it before you leave. Let me tell you why we think it is the greatest. We were on the first Eastern Panama Canal cruise. Hurricane Hillary changed its course during the night and we were in it's wrath. There was no getting prepared. Those of us that took the pills were perfectly fine during the storm that night and during the following day. Those that didn't take anything suffered immmensely including cast members. They handed them out for free but the thing is you have to take them BEFORE as it takes a long time to play "catch up". The joke ended up with the people that think they never get sea sick. We were out walking arounding and loving the swells. I mean it was our favorite part of the cruise. No sea sickness whatsoever. We have never wanted to chance not enjoying our cruises and that time it paid off!

Meclizine is the generic name for Antivert. I take Meclizine. I guess Bonine is the same thing then. It definitely works. I always find it a little rough going out the first night. The key is to take it the whole time out on the trip, not just after you get sick. I didn't know that, but had just been doing that anyway. Thanks for all your helpful information.

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend Peg :goodvibes
At work, and very tired...:surfweb:having my tea and trying to catch up on what I missed here being off last Friday. I did have a great weekend, thank you - and last night for some reason I felt a sense of "dread" about packing for the cruise. Even though my staging area is set and I even found my snorkel, my mask, and flippers so I wouldn't forget them. I was lucky enough to find a few more tops last week at Anthropologie and just need to pull them out of the bag and set them in the staging area as well. The only real issue for me at this point is the formal night attire... and if I should go shopping my last weekend before we leave for something "new". I do have a back-up plan and just need to make sure my black dress pants fit ok.

I just don't want to end up with too many suite cases since we'll be trapesing (sp?) all over Florida with all our stuff. DH keeps looking at the "pile" asking why we have so much stuff to take... OH that reminds me, guess who's hat was on back order???? But I guess he found one over the weekend while I was in NM - so I can't wait to see it - Jackie - have you seen it? Is it nice?

We're coming up on our one year anniversary you know. About time you had a look at the photos.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I can't believe it's been a year already. Wow, time flies quickly. Congratualtions and I wish you both many more years of happiness together.

Oh Marilyn, I certainly don't envy you. It's hard enough to exist through the mess of new construction in your home, but to have to pack while it's going on is just an impossible task. You are very brave.

Don't even get me started talking about all the delays. Why do builders always do that....they commit to one job and then leave in the middle of it to work on another one.

We added a room to our home after living here for one year. We took off and went to WDW while the work was being done. It was supposed to be finished while we were away, but when we returned home the job was only half done.

I can certainly relate to your stress at the moment. Don't worry, soon you'll be on Mickey's ship where there's no cares and no worries. You're really going to need it.:cloud9:

WOW! I am impressed! I am nowhere near ready.

Guess I'm a little eager to get this trip started. It's been a year and a half since my last Mickey cruise. That's just long overdue. I'm used to waiting only one year in between. Can we leave now? :confused3

OMG Monica, I hate when that happens. I can't find my Mickey hat. I always wear a visor. I bought a new Tink one in Disneyland on my last cruise and now I can't find my Mickey one. I want to wear Mickey for the sea excursion because I have worn it so many times already it's ok to wear it then. The Tink hat is new and I don't want it to get sea sprayed. I want to keep it clean. So I have to find my Mickey hat. I put it away somewhere while I was in Disneyland and haven't found it since. :confused3

It looks like we'll both be on a mission this week. Good luck with yours. I'll let you know how mine goes. :rolleyes1

LOL

That sounded to me like a confessional.

"Father, forgive me, I have sinned. Its been a year and a half since my last cruise..."
