September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Green apples, ginger, ginger ale are natural remedies. I always take a Bonine the morining of the cruise, as crossing the Gulf Stream that evening affects me a bit. I'll be sure to bring enough with me for every day however. Bonine doesn't make me drowsy like dramamine can.
.

Green apples really help if you're sick and you can find anything to eat. They won't do anything for the seasickness itself, trust me. You'll still need the patches or seasickness tablets.

Wow will all these tips I'm pretty sure I wont get seasick. Thanks for the tips.

I'm a walking drug store. On a daily basis I'm supposed to swallow about a dozen different perscriptions. I usually take 2-3 everyday and others as needed. One that I take as needed for dizziness from chronic sinus infections is Antivert. I'm told that this is also good for sea sickness. You do need a perscription for it so see your doctor and ask if you're interested. I take all my meds everyday while cruising. I'm also on temporary steroids everyday. But I take the Antivert and I have never been sea sick, even in the worst of hurricanes. I guess it works.

Yep, this is correct! :thumbsup2 It's possible one of my post about the DIS meet may have said Sunday in error...but I think somebody would have jumped on that! :rolleyes1

Deb will be (has already been?) in contact with DCL about the time and location for Champagne Girls. This is what we are requesting, but they will verify what's available and Deb will let us know if it is different. EVERYONE PLEASE be sure she has you on her list so you get notified if there is a change.

Deb has half way been and needs to continue being in touch with DCL regarding where and when to hold our Champagne Girls gathering. As soon as I have a confirmation, I will EMAIL everyone attending. I hope to have an answer by next week. Keep checking your email. If you would like to attend and have not yet let me know, please PM me with your email address. I will send you all the information. Last count we had 23 ladies attending. I think that it has gone up a bit from there. I will let you know the exact count when I send you an email confirmation.

Geezers will be hanging out in Cove Cafe most any night, just pop in and see who's around.

I've only seen Shopaholic and The Proposal, glad to see I'll have some movie choices. Definately want to see Up ::yes::

I've been sleeping and reading for about the past 24 hours. I need to go out in a bit and pick up some supplies and think about what else I need to do for trip prep. So many things need to wait till next weekend, but I can do some FE related stuff today.

Well, time to decide if I'll take another nap before heading out! :rotfl:

.

Hey Jacks, I'm so happy to hear you sound like you're feeling better....up and about at least. I hope you're not driving while taking pain killers though. You take care of yourself and heal quickly.

Hi Tortolains and welcome PecoBill!

Thanks Ian for posting my well-being!

I fell asleep in pre-op wating on the doctor and I've pretty much slept since Jose brought me home. And now...well, let's just say the vicoden is working! Only a couple of stiches since we only had to do a biopsy (YEAH!) and the doctor said he gave me the Walt Disney World special so I should be good to go for anything except the most jerkey of rides (so no Dinosaur or Star Tours I guess).

I'll check in later, don't want to sit for too long at one time just yet. :upsidedow

.Edited to add: as I sit her at Peg's computer I notice a little white package from Celebration FL....I wonder what that is? hehe I wonder if there will be one at my house??

.
Yippe my docs will be home when I get there. Getting ready to leave Silver City NM and head home, we had a very busy day and a late start leaving but got a lot done here and had a great time again...

I pray everyone is ok and glad to hear about Jackie's surgery and that my Darling Hubby took good care of her... I'll phone you once I hit cell range! Hugs to everybody... got to ride a beautiful dark bay horse today and had a lovely gallop on the bareback pad... I'll have to post a pic of Tudor when I get home... we had a great time and I love that all you have to do is BREATHE out and he stops to the next lowest gait... gotta love Parelli training!

I am happy to announce that all the clothes....minus one camisole, one evening clutch and one yet to be hand washed blouse....are packed. All the Fish Extender gifts, tiaras and boas are packed.....ladies, there will be pink feathers all over the place from the boas....dress accordingly. I'm feeling ready.

Just have to do the bathroom bag, carry on bag, jewelry and accessories. My garment bag clothes are all at the cleaners. John handles the garment bag and electronics bag packing. We'll work on those things next weekend.

Not many more weekends to go. That's a good thing!:goodvibes

Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend Peg :goodvibes

Deb, no worries about driving and drugs, I'm off the perscription stuff! Just needed that the first 24 hours.

Just realized I had Ian/Sukie wedding pictures on my camera that I haven't downloaded. Got to take care of that and put in a new memory card and fresh batteries. That's it for my electronics...ah for the simple life! :lmao:

.

Unlike myself, who seems to just throw things in the suitcase the morning of the cruise! They have washing machines on the ship! :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Glad I'm not the only one! No planning here. If I forget something I will do without or purchase it.:thumbsup2

PecoBill, I HIGHLY recommend Bonine which is a brand name for meclazine. Bonine is kind of costly so all I do is ask the pharmacist at Target for travel sickness pills and get 100 for 5.00. It doesn't make us sleepy. If you want to go that route just try it before you leave. Let me tell you why we think it is the greatest. We were on the first Eastern Panama Canal cruise. Hurricane Hillary changed its course during the night and we were in it's wrath. There was no getting prepared. Those of us that took the pills were perfectly fine during the storm that night and during the following day. Those that didn't take anything suffered immmensely including cast members. They handed them out for free but the thing is you have to take them BEFORE as it takes a long time to play "catch up". The joke ended up with the people that think they never get sea sick. We were out walking arounding and loving the swells. I mean it was our favorite part of the cruise. No sea sickness whatsoever. We have never wanted to chance not enjoying our cruises and that time it paid off!

We're coming up on our one year anniversary you know. About time you had a look at the photos.

Well, I've LOOKED at them...just IN the camera! :lmao:But there may be some I'd like to share, so I'd better get them downloaded.

Well, I'm signing off to go do a craft project and wait for Peg to get home so I can hear about her weekend (which was WAY more fun than mine).

.

I can't pack even if I wanted to.. All our cruise clothes and suitcases are already in Florida..

I will be packing for DH & I, 2 days before we get on the ship :rolleyes1

I'll be joining the lat minute packers for this trip - I'll be doing a complete unpack / repack on the 11th.

But it was the only way to squeeze this cruise in - so it's worth it!

Got Treasure Island at the library yesterday for DS to read before the cruise and the snorkeling at Norman Island. So we're doing some preparing and getting in the spirit, even if we can't really pack yet.
:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Good work Deb!! I'm gathering as best I can with all the work going on around me. Have things in boxes and bags, but won't pack till the day before we leave. Also have to pack things up because of changing bedrooms and getting rid of some wardrobes etc. Looks like all the building work is delayed, and the builders have started another project elsewhere and disappear for odd days now.:sad1: I'm officially stressed. They say it will be finished before we go but.....!

Are you having a celebration?;)

A couple of them!

The 4th is our anniversary (was it a year ago already?) and is the day we arrive in WDW. We'll be going out to dinner that night to celebrate.
