September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

I have updated page 1 posts 1 and 2 concerning FISH EXTENDER participation. I am behind in this thread due to Tom's hospitalization. I hope to be able to catch up soon. If anyone finds an error please send a PM or post it here.

Tom is home from the hospital and ahead of schedule on tolerated activities. The double recliner he wanted last spring (that I was hesitant to get but finally gave in) came in July. He cannot twist, or use his arms to push, pull or lift since he has a broken bone (breastbone) with no cast, so sleeping in the waterbed is not feasible. We are living and sleeping in the double recliner!!

Jan

Glad to hear that things are going well! The cruise will be "Just what the Dr. ordered" for Tom. Just ensconce him at Cove Cafe and we'll all come to him.

I love our reclining couch that we have in the Family Rm. Like you I was hesitant but DH prevailed, I just love them; so comfy. Many a night DH & I have fallen asleep on it.

My continued prayers and Pixie Dust for Tom continued recovery and you take care of yourself as well. :flower3:

The kids are all done...just need to put room numbers on them. The adult's gifts are in process....I do have a question, though. I noticed some rooms have 2 adults in them that are not a couple. My gifts are for a "couple" and I am wondering if I need to deliver two in those rooms where each person would want one. What do y'all think? Second, how does the FE work (I am sure that will come in a message, but I am just wondering.) Are all things delivered the first day or are we each given a date to deliver? My kids are so excited about giving their gifts!!

Looking so forward to it!
Ali

Almost done with FE but then I realized I have nothing to hang on the fish :rotfl: I would say seperate. I think there is only one or two rooms with this issue. I am just waiting on a few more rooms then will send out the final/ final list. I will have a dry erase board on my door so people can put any room changes on it. I will be delivering mine the first night. For those of you with any other ideas let me know.

Hi everyone! I have decided that today's the day I have to catch up with this thread, as in 4 short weeks, we will be boarding the Magic for real!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: So, with coffee at the ready and without further ado...

So glad Tom is doing well. He will get a great rest and some healthy sea air on the cruise.

And only 3 points for a cup (that's an 8 ounce serving, or 236.6 ml for our metric friends). Now that is totally worth it!

I bet you wake up in the night in a cold sweat working out point values!!:lmao:

No...three...this one hasn't started yet! Stop freaking me out!

.
Now I'm off to find the thread on dolphin safe, biodegradable sunscreen, which I can't seen to find anywhere in the stores............

.

OK, you win, but by the time you read this, this weekend will be half over. I'm just trying to help you keep things in their proper perspective dear.

It's for your own good.

Not at all. I just like to be prepared. It is after, by burden, though I accept it nobly and with humility to set an example of care self restraint for others.

But funny you should say that, because I did have a rather odd dream about the cruise last, night, and it was about food of all things. There was an ice cream, pizza and snack station right outside my cabin door. I recall being extremely annoyed.

The Magic was also a bit tatty and looked much more like the night ferry from Felixstowe to the Hague than the Magic.

Oh, Marilyn and you did appear in it very briefly. For some unexplained reason you were wearing a turban. I think you might have been channeling Angela Landsbury in the film, "Murder on the Orient Express."

Walking on Water - Keeping Healthy at Sea

Early morning walkers only!

I sent out an email this week to the folks who indicated they would like to walk in the early morning to nail down some times.

13 emails went out. I have heard back from 10 people. 3 have not responded.

Please check your email or spam mail, otherwise. I will be sending out the general information and teams for all time slots, the weekend of August 29th.

HA...it's 6:24AM Saturday morning...I haven't even had a cup of tea yet! My weekend is just beginning.

Today I pick up my new glasses and head to Catherine's for Pooh sized clothes shopping and to Wholefoods (thanks K) for dolphin friendly sunscreen. Need to do some straightening up around the house then I can build my 'staging area' for the trip. Don't know if I'll have a package to ship down to the Magic this time.

:sad2: You are full of it this morning, aren't you?

I plan to get photos of a certain Weight Watcher's leader passed out in the hall with a bottle of Grey Goose in one hand and a giant piece of chocolate cake in the other!

Speaking of WW....I'm back ON PLAN for the next three weeks....no more mookey-fookey-ing around! (I've gained/lost/gained/lost/gained the same three pounds for several weeks now...couldn't have anything to do with french fries and cookes, could it?)

Much preferable to Margaret Rutherford!

My sweet brother-in-law, Jose, doesn't seem really excited about his visit to WDW after the cruise. But Peg managed to get his interest piqued when she showed him THIS:

ry%3D480

The "No Way, Jose" from Beaches N Cream. The man thinks ice cream is it's own food group. And he was very happy to be told it was walking distance from his hotel. :thumbsup2

While I enjoy movies, I enjoy books more. I have a really hard time watching a movie after I've read the book...I sit there and think...no, that isn't what the character looks like or sounds like...you've got it all wrong...
I'm just the same! I'm not much of a movie person anyway (apart from Disney movies, of course :thumbsup2) - but what plays in my head when I'm reading a book is always waaay better than anything I subsequently see on screen if/when it's dramatised... :cool2:

We leave for the airport on the 6th and fly on the 7th. We're staying at SSR. I feel I have so much to do and of course we have a big chance of getting Swine Flu as it really seems inevitable now. I would rather have it now when it is mild than in the winter when it might be bad...
I had it whilst in Spain, Marilyn!!! DH bought it with him when he joined DS and myself for the final 2 weeks - nice, eh??!!! Anyway, I felt terrible for a couple of days, less bad for another couple and fine by day 6. No Tamiflu required - the Spanish doc said it was totally overhyped by the UK press...

OK, so here's the scoop. Every year I collect one of the Harrods Christmas Bears. I usually have them delivered to a family member in the UK and then collect them or have them shipped sometime in the future often waaaay in the future (in fact I have only just received the bear from last 2008) unless I just happen to be flying out of the UK at a suitable time.

So I get an email that the 2009 bear is out. My brain starts ticking... Would anyone traveling from the UK through either Gatwick or Heathrow, be willing to pick one up for me at the Harrods store in the airport...

I can get it for you, Kay on my way thro' LGW... :thumbsup2 Can you post a pic so I know what I'm looking for???

We're hoping to be in Palo for brunch on Thursday, too. It's our 27th wedding anniversary!
Angela
Congratulations! We're celebrating our 27th Wedding Anniversary on this cruise too tho' the actual date isn't till September 23rd... :goodvibes

Good Morning Tortolians.....the wheels have been set in motion and arrangements are in process for setting up our Champagne Girls tasting. Now I'm really, really getting excited.

We have a total of 23 ladies attending. If anyone wants to attend and did not yet receive an email from me, please PM me and I will add you to our little gathering.

DH John helped me go over the list of DCL champagnes as provided by Jackie in a link to DCL gifts. Thanks again Jackie. Perfect timing. We determined how many bottles of what we will need. We will be purchasing 4 bottles from DCL and bringing 4 bottles onboard with us....two of which will be provided by Jackie and two provided by me and John. I'm going to have DCL charge my KTTW card for all the expenses and I will charge $5 or $10 at the door in cash, depending on whether you are a sipper or a taster. Honorary Members are welcome and will be free of charge. Tiaras and Boas will be handed out at the door when you check in. I have requested a sommelier to teach us about the different champagnes that we will be tasting.
Sounds unbelievably awesome, Deb!!! Thanks for organising this... :worship::worship::worship:

OK, I had to share my warped British sense of humor!

Saw some info tonight about Disney carpet and area rugs, so though I had to check it out. Imagine my surprise when I saw one of the carpets/colors was called "Pretty Princess Shag"
Talk about :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

(For those of you that don't know - shag in the UK is slang for "intimate relations")
It always amuses me too... :lmao::rotfl::lmao: Tho' I think our US cousins might be catching on - I watched an episode of NCIS last week and the ME, Ducky (played by Brit, David McCallum), when invited to comment on the floor-covering at a crime scene, clearly stated he preferred a nice shag!!! There was some subtle eyebrow raising by the rest of the cast which implied they got the joke... ;)

Pixie dust, prayers and hugs to Donna and Harry, Jan and Tom, Kelly and dad.

It's sad to hear that these things happen to us, but we stay strong and fight the good fight and just do more Disney vacations....especially cruises.

I can only agree 100% with everything Deb says... pixiedust:  pixiedust:  pixiedust:

The pressure is on me now. :scared1: Not only have I got to start organizing myself, DH and the kids (the kids who STILL don't know we are cruising in 4 weeks...), but now, Whole Foods better have that biodegradeable sunscreen! :rolleyes1 (I suspect that Whole Foods, if anywhere, should have it - they have that kind of stuff!).

Happy Saturday to one and all...

-Kay
