September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

I use the dollar bills for tipping room service because then I can make sure that the person gets the tip.

I also think of the tip holistically and my tipping starts at the airport here in Chicago. I always do curbside check in whenever possible, because I think they are a little more lenient regarding weight and size (flying SW) than they are in the concourse.

There is also other tipping along the way cabs, bellmen, etc. So, it seems like I always need singles.

Thought I would never get caught up with the thread, but I ake it to the other side!! Too many trips and days away from the computer.

When "gold" dollar coins were first introduced we started to tip cash for bellmen, etc. using them and adding a delicious Hershey's Golden Almond candy bar for special people. Room steward, room service and Mousekeeping at the resorts always seem to remember and give us great service. They are easy to carry and my wallet isn't bursting at the seams from the bills.

Look like Tiger Woods (or at least his yatch) was in St Thomas in June, along with the Disney Magic. This is his humble little boat "Privacy".

Hey ya all,
I have received a few PM's for people wanting to be added to FE. The count is now 30 rooms, 58 adults, and 29 kids. Here is the list of Dis people who are participating. If you were supposed to be on the list and are not PM me. There are a few who are still waiting for room numbers so please get that to me when you can so I can send the final notice. I have purchased a wipe off board to put on my door for any room changes.

disneylove69, I count 31 cabins and 59 adults...did you remember to count yourself?

Hopefully the GTY cabins will be assigned in another week...OK, wishful thinking, probably more like two weeks. Isn't Aug 12 or 13 the 30 day mark?

Is anybody starting to panic yet? With over a year to plan there are still things that can't be done till close in....like waiting till the last minute to decide on/buy clothes for those of us who are trying to loose weight! :lmao:

For me, I have to be all packed up by Thu 9/3, so I only have about 37 more days to get my act together. That's five week-ends. Time to drag out the 'cruise box' and see if any supplies (medical/hygene/etc) need replacing. Need to check the batteries in flashlight/camera and make sure I have a fresh memory card. I'm going to try and pack one bag that is only things I'll need for the cruise and the other with 'park' clothes/items....though there will be some crossover items. I think I need to make a list of what has to be accomplished each weekend. :upsidedow

Excuse Me...

You left your lights on...

Good thing the Dollar Tree is nearby! :moped:

According to my desktop DVC countdown, I'm down to a yard until we leave for vacation.

(A yard being 36 days. I suppose until the cruise you have to go 42 inches. Sorry you metric people, though I suppose you've got about 107 cm to go)

This cruise must be getting close! Just got my FE gifts in the mail! Although I ordered when there were less than 24 kids on the list, and only got two dozen of one of the items. Now there are 29 kids. I guess I'll try to think of an alternate item for some of the kids. I'm still good on number of cabin gifts as long as it doesn't go higher than 36! I thought my items were small and wouldn't be difficult to transport, but when you add them all together, it's actually quite a lot. Maybe we'll be mailing a box to the ship.

I better get to work on my magnets and MNSSHP t-shirts.

This thread is WAY too quiet for my liking - where is everybody? We are getting so close and we have little activity... oh I bet I know...
you are all on FACEBOOK - farming! Hey - I got a brown cow finally!

Ok, back to cruise stuff. Well I've decided I'm finished with my door signs/magnets so really now that DH was supposed to order his hat I think I only have to put my mail on hold! I cannot believe how quick I got my park tickets...

OH, I do have to order some "gifts" I've been pondering that - so if I DO - I need to do that - I think I'll wait till my sister is helping me on-line because I want to see delivery options etc. Anyone done this for others thru DISNEY? How did it go? Smooth?

I got my hair done yesterday - and went from blonde (dishwater) to a dark auburn girl, and I'm a little nervous... I'm going back to add highlights one week from the cruise - my personal poll - do you think that's too close to cut it? Thanks for the help. I should post a new photos huh?
