September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

And some of us have casually sauntered down and asked the stateroom host if we can stash something and then we will get out of their way and let them finish making the room special. They were fine with it. :rolleyes1

I wondered if you might be able to do that.

Activities Status

I have completed the tallying up of the results for the planned activities and have emailed each organizer their lists. I would recommend that over the next few days, each organizer look through their lists and send an email out to folks to let them know you have it. Also post on this thread when you have done that.

Harry and I really appreciate everyone's kind words, concern and encouragement.:goodvibes It means a lot to us. I even heard Harry telling a friend about how caring everyone on the DIS boards has been.:thumbsup2 I would love to reply separately to each of you but it would take forever and I would probably end up leaving someone out. So please accept this instead...:grouphug:

I'm still recovering from the concert last night. I am getting too old for this. I didn't know so many muscles and bones could ache at the same time from standing so long and being out until 2:00am. Lynryd Skynyrd sucked which was a shame because last time we saw them they were really good. Kid Rock was as amazing as always, if not better. It was good to get out. Music helps to keep me sane.:goodvibes

Will post back when we get definite test results next week.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Donna

Cheri could make them or stand over you while you do it. Teachers are good at motivating students. :)

I haven't heard from Jackie today so she must be doing just fine with her own self-discipline--or she's decided to blow it all off and find a new book to read.:lmao:

Not good. After a needle biopsy I got this Dr. to admit that he is quite certain it is cancer. He said it looks a lot like lymphoma. He is hoping that it is lymphoma because it responds well to chemo in a lot of patients. If it isn't lymphoma he said that it will be worse. You know you are in trouble when the Dr. is hoping for a certain type of cancer. Anyway, I know he wasn't supposed to say anything and he is hoping he won't get in trouble. I sure won't tell. I am just grateful to know so we have time to adjust to situation and can listen with clearer heads when the Dr. calls to discuss what is next. We are in for a rough road. I just hope it is treatable and not too late as Harry has been having symptoms for a while now. Poor guy is glad it is him and not me, our kids, or grandkids. He is especially worried sick about the grandkids. As for himself, what bothers him most is the possibility of losing his hair. I must admit that if it were me that I would feel the same way. Silly huh?

I know Harry will be going for many tests to see how far this has progressed and what stage it is. He still says we are going on this cruise. I hope so, but really don't see it working out at this point. I will let everyone know what we find out. We are supposed to get the results of the biopsy next Friday, the day after our 38th wedding anniversary.:sad2:

Hope everyone else is doing well!:goodvibes

Still hoping to see everyone in Sept.

Donna

Oops, almost forgot. Going to see Kid Rock and Lynryd Skynyrd tonight.:woohoo: Some of you might remember that I was really upset to miss the Kid Rock concert when we were on the repo. And Stacy will appreciate this...my son is taking me to the Metallica concert in October. It was my Mother's Day and Birthday gift.:thumbsup2 Yep, grandma has a darkside!

55 days for us.

Hi Donna, I just read this post and want to add my prayers and good wishes for Harry and you. :flower3:

:lmao: Whatever posessed me to say I wanted to do Walking on Water?:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

We've seen Kid Rock in concert before as well and I agree he always does a terrific job. Glad you were able to enjoy the concert.

Shots Around the Ship & Walking on Water

I have sent out emails to everyone who signed up for these events. If you signed up for either of them, and after checking your spam box or junk mail folder have not had an email from me. Let me know.

Because you find me inspiring, that's why!

(Or was it that you find me perspiring?)

You know, another person's feelings might have been hurt. As soon as I locate my feelings, I'll let you know what I think.

Just thought you'd like to know that we're working on way through The Good Life.

I had not seen all of them. Sukie is, well, not all that interested.

We have also embarked again on Red Dwarf.

I also have a DVD player that is region free, so we can watch UK DVDs. Sukie's daughter for some reason thinks we need The Magic Roundabout.

Ian, did you ever watch The Forsyte Saga?

It is in black and white as I was a youngster, but I believe a good piece of period drama.

The Good Life, wow, a definite blast from the past. I remember watching that with my parents when I was just a slip of a girl. :rolleyes1 Thinking about it, its probably appropriate in this day and age again! (For those that don't know The Good Life is a story about two neighbors. One set is posh if a little stuck up, the other set is very down to earth and are into organic farming in their back yard)

If Sukie's daughter is talking about the original Magic Roundabout :cool2:, then I certainly agree :thumbsup2. (The newer movie is also fun, but not as cool as the original series!)

On one trip back to the UK I bought a couple of (supposedly) region free DVDs with programs that DH & I would have watched as kids (e.g. Rhubarb and Custard, Mr Ben, Clangers - got to love the Iron Chicken) I wanted our kids to see the shows that we were brought up on. Unfortunately they wouldn't play on any of our players over here so I reluctantly had to send them to my sister back in the UK. :sad1: But at least we can find clips on You Tube :banana::surfweb:

Hi all sorry i missed the survey:confused3 but we would like to do SATS FE CG and Lanyards - Hope all is Well :grouphug:Prayers to Harry- we have been down that road hang in there

Would it be worth putting a list on page 1 of who to contact if you want to be included in a particular activity now that the survey is finished? (Perhaps with a summary of the event and any dates/times/other details that are already confirmed)

Otherwise it will be up to the individual organizers to keep checking posts and they may miss someone.

In fact, it is getting so close to the cruise, that I may have to riffle through the closet and start dusting off the accoutrements. I have to also see what clothing fits. I think some of it from the last crusie might be too big.

Having clothes be too big is never a problem. Good for you!

I know what you mean Deb. We booked this when it first came available. Well actually we had the May Tortola cruise booked first and were waitlisted for a Cat. 2 for this one and here we are.

By the time we reach the cruise it will have been over two years since Jason and I last cruise. Hard to believe our last cruise was the trans-Atlantic. In a way it seems like yesterday and then in a way it really does seem like two years ago. And it will be weird going back to a 7 night, our last two cruises were 14 and 11 nights and next year will be 12.

Yeah, it's been a long wait and a long time in between cruises. We'll really going to enjoy getting on that boat this time. Just gotta find a way to slow it down, especially since it'll be another 7 night and we've been spoiled by longer cruises.

Speaking of posts on page 1....Jan, I believe that you have the Emerald Beach under Tortola....it needs to be moved because it is on St. Thomas. Thanks.:thumbsup2
