September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Just so I know, Ian which one are you in the picture on page one and which one is Sukie?

This will be 3 years since our last cruise and I cant wait to get going.

Just checking in on this thread so I don't keep skipping right past it and ending up looking at the 2nd thread... again!

I'm feeling the time pinch already! I still have to think of FE gifts, make/buy FE gifts, buy/make a FE! Make magnets, make t-shirts for the kids and maybe us adults, make pillowcases or t-shirts for the kids to have signed, buy MNSSHP tickets, make tip envelopes. All the fun stuff that makes the trip extra special! I beter get to it!

:wizard: I'm asking someone to make the changes for us so I can hang this new sign for anniversary celebration night!

Hi! I just signed up to join this thread and wanted to introduce myself.

I am Michelle and I will be cruising with my DH Matt and DD Mallory 8. This is our 3rd Disney cruise.

We are soooo looking forward to it. I do not know much about Tortola so any tips would be great. I have not booked any excursions yet so I am open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi Tracy and welcome. :)

We have only booked the land and sea excursion on Tortola. We are child free, but I am sure some of the parents travelling with youngsters would have more ideas.

Have you read the info on Page 1?

Hi Michelle and :welcome:
We will be on our first cruise ever and are very exited about it. Our DD Kellie is 22 (she'll be 23 the day we visit Tortola) but she has Down Syndrome so in many ways will be traveling with a little girl too. We'll be doing the Tortola by Land And Sea tour. Looking forward to it!!

Hi Michelle

Welcome to the Last Call for Tortola!

We will be cruising with our DS9 and DD5. We don't have any specific plans for either St Thomas or Tortola. St Thomas we may just explore the main port & take the skyride as well as relaxing on the ship. Tortola we are aiming to go to the Baths on Virgin Gorda by ourselves (not on the DCL tour) so that we have, but there again, we may just wander around Road Town. Can you tell we are keeping it low key :thumbsup2

Look forward to meeting you all.

Welcome aboard. This is a great group of people.
I have a DD Hanna who is 8 as well. Consider coming to the DisMeet on embarkation day and meet everyone. Mallory can meet Hanna as well. There are several girls who are of an age who'll be on this cruise as well.
We don't have any plans for Tortola or St. Thomas. We are just going to grab a taxi and hit the beach. On CC we'll do a little parasailing.
See you soon!

Hi! I have a daughter-Lindsay, 11, and son-Preston, 7, and would love for them to be able to meet some friends before the cruise. Are there any other kids out there that might like to e-mail them? Send the e-mail to
luvin2dance@verizon.net. Hope they hear from you!! Ali

Unfortunately, my kids don't know that they are cruising! Wait for the screams in the parking lot! (Note to self, remember ear plugs for the drive into port!)

Thanks for all the welcomes!:flower3:

Mallory will be glad to hear that there are some girls her age. She is so excited about being able to go to the Oceaneer Lab this time instead of the club...she keeps me reminding me that she is a big girl now and not a baby :sad2:

I think so far we all agreed that we should check out the butterfly farm at St. John but that is it so far. On our past 2 cruiese we mostly stayed close to the port and just looked around. We are kind of go with the flow.

HELLO MICHELLE!!

GREAT to see you on the thread an not only in my PM box :) I have added Matt and Mallory's names to page 1 post 2 and corrected Mallory's age.

Post 3 has some websites people have shared in past months about the different islands so you might find some Tortola info there. Other folks may add info here also.

:boat: WELCOME ABOARD :sail:

FE's I have a question about how FEs are going to work. My only previous experience was on a large cruise and teams of gift people.

For this cruise are we each buying our own goodies and doing our own deliveries? Is there going to be a delivery schedule?

You could also check the list of cruisers on page 1 post 2 and send PMs or e-mails to those who have children of close ages. :thumbsup2

Welcome TweetyB!:cheer2::dance3:Don't forget the possibility of joining the champagne girls too! Don't miss the DIS meet at 3:00pm Promenade (sp?) Lounge! Can't wait to meet you!

I already have my gifts for the FE and have also offered to put in a bit towards the lanyards.

From my (limited) experience on my last (and very first cruise) I found it great that we did not have a delivery schedule - I could slot it in when our time allowed. I might have been stressed/overwhelmed if I thought I HAD to get it done on a certain day. I also used the FE delivery as a chance to explore the other decks and get some exercise in :thumbsup2

By "Magic" something appeared in the FE every day even though there was no schedule for it. :cool1: We also had a smaller group of DISers like we have this cruise (i.e. not the huge repo sized group!)

I would vote to keep the delivery schedule flexible - IMHO of course!

Perhaps it was so hyper-organized on the Panama Canal cruise because there were so many cabins involved.

I guess this weekend I'll go shopping for FE gifities.

I figure for the lanyards - we'll try to deliver some at Fishlips the night before the cruise & at the terminal before boarding (those at WDW prior to the cruise can always get them from me earlier too)....for those not at either of those 2 get togethers - we'll go for the 3pm DIS meet & then finally to delivery in the FE's themselves.

That way we can figure out the DISers from the get go :)
