September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

I have been lurking here a little and catching up. I just got back from LA for business. My last business trip before we leave. I have started to pack some, but still trying to catch up with the laundry that DH and DD created while I was gone. I am just trying to pull out stuff when I see it and think about it, so far I have dish detergent (for DD sippy cups), Woolite, Oxy Stain Remover (again for DD), and sunscreen. Kind of an odd combination.

I am so jealous of all going on the WBTA - I will be flying back from Milan for business the day before it leaves Barcelona - actually thought about getting DH and DD to fly over and meet me and catching the boat home :cool1:, but talked to my boss, and he won't approve me being out of the office for 3 consecutive weeks. You have to hate when the real world interferes with vacation. :sad2:

Looking forward to meeting everyone in a few weeks. We will be leaving to drive down on 9/10 after work and stopping in Savannah. That way we won't have too far to go on Friday, and will be able to make it to Fishlips with no problems :drive:

See you guys soon

I don't think he should penalize you for that first week, you're working!!!! You're just not there, it's not like you're taking a three week long vacation. You're just asking for two weeks.

FE...Is there any room for us left? I wasnt going to participate because its just the 2 of us, no kids, but then I changed my mind...Is it too late?

We are just 2 and no kids too.. It's still a bunch of fun.. I always have extra FE gifts.. What is your cabin number? or PM me with it if you feel better with that..

Good morning everybody - thanks to all for your prayers ...

staging area started, but the packing has NOT begun for us, and I'm just trying to figure out how in the heck I'm going to pack not 1 but 2 hats for my DH - he went shopping at the hat store while I was in NM last weekend. I guess the best way is to put them upside down and load them with socks, etc?

Question: are packing "cubes" the same as those airtight bags? I have those and don't use them all the time - just curious.

Well - that's all for now - haven't had coffee yet...

I FOUND MY UNDERWATER DIGITAL CAMERA!!!

:cool1::woohoo::banana::dance3::yay:

I'm so relieved! whew!

Now...what else do I need to do??? :confused3

Hey to all FE participants. Brooke3L just booked and is wanting to participate. She knows that many have already purchased their items but for those of you who have extras. She said her last cruise only 8 participated and she has gifts to give. So far I dont think TinkRules has booked so many more might have extras. As soon as she gets her cabin I will let you know.

I have extras too... :thumbsup2

Cabin Number and how many Adults and Kids and genders?

:santa:

Unfortunately that is not the way they look at it - if only you were my boss:goodvibes Plus, my DH didn't see so thrilled about flying to Barcelona alone with DD who would be 3 at the time :scared1:

I forgot to mention.....WELCOME to those who've just joined us!!

Thanks and we are 1068...But we are looking for an upgrade at the port..

I don't understand why people are so adversed to people taking time off. Our lives and health would be so much better if we didn't work so much.

Why do most guys think they can't handle kids by themselves? Women do it all the time. I have a friend who has 4 kids ranging in age from 14 to 2 and she's taking the 14 year old and the youth on a church retreat next summer in New Orleans and she said her DH is already freaking out about being left home alone for almost a week with with the 8, 4 and 2 year old and this is a year away. And she does it all the time because he travels for work just about every other week.

Hey, I owe you for recommending the packing cubes and the folders. They are fantastic. Clothing arrives in great shape and they make packing much easier.
You're welcome. Best thing since sliced bread.

Here are the basic packing cube and packing folder.

They help with the packing process, make it easier to keep organized, and keep clothes from getting wrinkled. We have used them for years.

He is usually pretty good - I travel for work alot and he does great - although DD usually ends up with grandma for part of while I'm gone. He just wasn't excited about that long of a flight alone with her. When we brought her home from Vietnam, she was 8 months, and that was actually totally miserable. First time parents - 30 hours of travel time :scared1: He is remembering that trip, and not fondly :headache: He would be fine. I totally agree about the vacation thing, 1 week just isn't enough - you just get relaxed, and then you have to go back to work:mad:

Wow!!!! I don't know that I could have done 30 hours with a 8 month old. I'd be scared too.

Brooke, make sure you post your room number when you get it. Tinkerbelle77 I made note of yours.

Woody, I have always been curious over the packing cubes. One question though, I see that you roll the clothes. Ok, sooooo I tried rolling one time and man I had more wrinkles than if I just through them in. LOL Any advice from anyone regarding rolling your clothes?
