September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

I googled it and found tips. Now don't laugh but I might have a practice roll session in the next day or two for the tshirts, dress shirts and womens tops, pack them for a day or two and then see what happens. I can always relaunder them. I pack my formal wear and dresses in dry cleaner plastic and they come out PERFECT. Just need practice on the rolling.

I tried the whole rolling clothes thing one time b/c I saw that you also conserve space by doing that. I don't recall having any wrinkles (actually I'm not even sure I left them rolled), but I swear for me it took up more space than just folding everything like usual. I think I unpacked everything and packed it again like normal and had space to spare.

That's so funny because I was thinking the same thing - found that REI near me carries the entire line of Eagle Creek packing system. Love REI because I get a dividend check at the end of the year - and use my Disney Visa and get points - WHOO HOO:banana:

Brooke, make sure you post your room number when you get it. Tinkerbelle77 I made note of yours.

Woody, I have always been curious over the packing cubes. One question though, I see that you roll the clothes. Ok, sooooo I tried rolling one time and man I had more wrinkles than if I just through them in. LOL Any advice from anyone regarding rolling your clothes?

Personally I use the cubes and roll for things like tshirts and underwear. Ouse the folders for button front shirts and for trousers, these unpack in great condition, much better than regular packing.

My source is eBags, the have their own brand of cubes that are very well made and much cheaper than other brands, and the also have good discounts on the folders.

::MinnieMo: Got our FE gifts today ! :MickeyMo
It was so much fun! We hit the mother load at Dollar Tree - they had great Disney stuff. It was actually difficult to choose.... of course we had to get a few extras of what we are giving out for dd to have she liked everything so much. :rolleyes1

I don't roll the clothes.

I use separate packing cubes for: (1) socks and underwear, (2) camera and electronics, and (3) toiletries, bandaids, medications. Great for keeping organized.

Thanks for that tip - I checked out their pricing and they even had a Value set which is great for someone starting out - 6 pieces for $55 bucks. And their shipping will get to me before 9/3. Which still gives me plenty of time.

I think I'll end up using a combination of the packing cubes and the airtight bags for this trip and we'll see how it goes~I watched two videos one from Eagle Creek and one from ebags and they had some good ideas to use the cubes for camera and electrical equipment so that was neat... thanks everyone for your great ideas - I'll be more organized than EVER this trip.:dance3::banana::thumbsup2

Did the hold mail with the post office today! :thumbsup2 One more thing off the list.

MUST try on my dress slacks for formal/semi formal night. They certainly should fit as I wore them on the WBPC and I'm not any heavier now than I was then...but better check, just in case stuff just 'shifted'. :lmao:

Have to go nag the guy at the party store...may have to change color choice if my stuff didn't come in. :sad2:

It's not been super busy at work the last couple of days, and I so want to be at home getting trip prep done and straightening up the house.

.

I have to figure out what I'm going to wear for formal night. I have several dresses to choose from, it's just a matter of what fits and what I'm in the mood to wear.

I on the other hand am getting swamped at work, all of a sudden. I have been given 2 more projects. I report to 2 directors and the CIO all at the same time which can make life interesting.

I pointed out to the CIO today that I would not be able to start on one project probably until after I get back from vacation.

I seem to have to remind people several times a day that as of the end of next week I will be gone and won't be back in the office until 9/21.

A few have asked me if they could phone me while I am on vacation. I asked them if they wanted the short answer or the long answer.

The short answer is, "No."

The long answer is, "Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo."

Our formal night and semi-formal night ensembles are being coordinated by the costume department.

With me, I'm trying to decide IF we are going to do semi and formal this time around. We just want to keep this cruise simple. What to do, what to do! I do know that I am skipping the pirate gear for sure.

For those interested in the packing cubes at ebags - I just checked on them and they are also on sale for an extra 20% off right now - but it is just for today (Wednesday) according to the site.

Frankly I think that formal and semi-formal nights are a ridiculous and contrived notion. I mean, what is the point? It's not as if it's 1922, and this is a crossing on the Olympic, and first class passengers dressed for dinner. It's a Disney Cruise, and so is therefore a more than a smidge pretentious. Which is why I treat it as a costume night, otherwise, I wouldn't bother.

The luggage we're bringing is also eBags brand, their Motherlode rolling duffles. I bought one piece to use on our Panama Canal cruise and it was so great, we now have a set. We'll be taking the large rolling duffle (29") and the Motherlode Junior (25"). We have the eTech line. The little duffle is staying at home, we'll be taking a garment bag for the tuxes.

I've been really impressed by the quality of eBag's own label merchandise.

I FOUND MY UNDERWATER DIGITAL CAMERA!!!

I made it a little easier this time. I've got Palo on formal night and we'll have semi formal night, so that's only two dresses I have to bring instead on three separate ones if we had done Palo on another night.

I like it because it's one of the few times I get to dress up like that.

we did books (Disney of course) for the babies & toddlers. Wanted to give them something the could be entertained with (especially at dinner) but that was easy to carry. Just seemed to fit the bill.

Hanna sent Lindsay an email. She was so excited to get it.

good idea about the books. we spent an hour or so working on the FE stuff last night....and need to go back for more.

everyone just know that the candy that melted and hardened in the wrapper was from me. i usually have no problem licking the wrappers clean. ha.

Lindsay was asleep by the time I read this... I will let her know in the morning...she will be very excited! Are the cousins not doing the FE? I didn't see a 10 yr old girl on my list...
