September 12, 2009 ~ Last Call for Tortola! Thread 3

Here's some info on the Wonder upgrade for this year's dry dock.

To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Café will be added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop Deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Café is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Café is sophisticated with contemporary, Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Café with the existing Cove Café one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

Just got in. Tired after a full day of traveling. Sad to be off the ship, but have lots of photos to look over the next few days. Wished I could have spent more time with the folks here, but c'est la vie!

So who from here won the jackpot Bingo? The winner had a green lanyard, so must have been a Dis-er family. Congratulations! That was a great prize to win!

--Kay

It wasn't us, but we had some excellent luck this week. At least one of us won in every round of bingo except for the last one. I won three times!!!! My dad also won the onboard credit for rebooking onboard early in the week.

WOW! That's great news! I wonder if it was my sister-in-law and she's just keeping it to herself! :lmao::lmao:

Regarding 2011.....does anyone know what's going on with the Wonder 9/5-9/20???? Last Alaska is 8/30 but the ship doesn't return till 9/20?? Will it be in dry dock in a northern shipyard? Kind of spoils my plan of doing the final Alaska and bringing the ship home to LA. :confused3

Did you hear about this year's rumored dry dock changes? Enclosing the Overlook bar and adding a second floor to Cove Cafe with floor to celing windows. Anybody hear more detail on that?

.

The Wonder will do drydock in Vancouver before returning to LA. I think Jocelyn told us that at the cruise sale presentation, if I remember correctly.

I did hear about the Cove Cafe addition. It will be really nice. I don't know that I heard any other details than pretty much what you already have there. There were definitely a lot of people talking about it on the Magic even though it will be happening on the Wonder. The talks were mixed however as to whether it would be added to the Magic or not.

We arrived home, but there's no towel animal or pillow chocolates.

That's why I saved my Cadbury dark chocolate bar for when I got home! (OK, I ate part of it in the airport waiting for my flight)

I'm very sleepy and off to bed (almost 2AM 'body' time).

Wow! Congrats! Happy Birthday!

We returned home to a flooded basement. Thankfully DD and her wonderful DBF pulled out the carpeting, cleaned up and rented fans to dry it out. It could have been a lot worse. We needed new carpeting anyway and all of the grandkids stuffed animals and some toys had to be thrown out.:woohoo: I must say though, I am getting sick and tired of everything going wrong. If it wasn't for my adorable grandkids I would throw my hands up and give up. We were smothered with hugs and kisses. DD said the five year old cried for us constantly. All the more reason for Harry to fight to get better.

It was great to see old friends and meet new ones. Thanks to everyone for their kind words and encouragement.

Have to get busy. I am overwhelmed with all I have to do.

Welcome back everybody!

I want to thank everyone who participated for the Fish Extender gifts! There were some really thoughtful ones, some very time-consuming awesome homemade ones, and lots of fun stuff! What a cool experience! I was amazed by how many people gave my infant a special present like a book or even a bib! Thank you, thank you! :goodvibes

Booked two dummy dates while on board...just contacted my TA to move them to the 2011 Panama Canal (which will then cancel and supercede my WBTA that I had booked on my own for next year). My WBTA cruise-mate agreed that this would work better for both of us and there are three ports I've not been to and no long plane rides! (AND three more months to save up $$)

Moved the second one to the 8/30 Alaska (which may be overriden by a different cruise line based on price), to be done with sister Dianne, who was very happy to discover that she enjoyed cruising. :thumbsup2

I saw you on Pirate night...you walked by in your pink while I was waiting in line to see Pirate Mickey in the lobby. I didnt make it to the DIS meet on Saturday, so I did not know who anyone was...just recognized the green lanyards!:thumbsup2

We got back to Charleston yesterday around 4pm.
It was sad to leave, but I was ready to get home. Traveling with a sick toddler was not fun.:headache:
I enjoyed myself, however, we didnt book onboard b/c we decided we are not going to cruise again until the 2 little ones are at least 3 years old. Considering one isnt born yet, that will be about 3 1/2 years. There just wasnt much to keep an 18 mth old busy.
Hope everyone had a good time. I enjoyed looking for the green lanyard people!
I think the highlights of our trips were the character interaction, Castaway Cay, and MNSSHP!
We had wonderful service, in true Disney spirit, from Brenden and Yadira (sp?) in the dining rooms, and Franky- our stateroom host.
Looking foward to hitting the parks in the coming years and another DCL cruise in about 3 years. At least there will be 2 new ships to try out by then!!:cloud9:

We are home. Tired and not happy to still be on the ship. LOL

Just wanted to thank everyone for the great FE gifts.

A special congratulations to our Bingo winner!

we made it back - and my bed is not nicely turned down for me and there were no chocolates - oh the agony of real life. it was great meeting all of you.

I felt the same way. :confused3 :rotfl:
I told dh that I really miss not having to cook all the meals and he just looked at me as if it never occurred to him that it was a big deal.
We had a fantastic time and did rebook a dummy date for 2010, but really will go in 2011. Already there in my mind...........:goodvibes

I second that! The FE gifts were great - I am really amazed at how creative some people can be. We also made good use of the FE gift that had the first aid things, etc. Thanks everyone for all the pixiedust:. DD6 was so excited every time we went back to the cabin. :grouphug:

Has anyone else here booked for 2011 yet? I just got off the phone with DCL after 2 hours. We're currently booked on the May 10, 2011 Alaska cruise in a Cat. 2, but we're waitlisted for a Cat. 1 or 2 for May 3. Hopefully we'll see some of you there.:thumbsup2 Good luck if you're still trying to get through.

Back in NJ and Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr it's only 67 degrees :guilty:

I wanted to let everyone who received the Green Bracelets from their FE that our son was an Organ Donor and they came from them. I am sorry that I ran out so not everyone on the list got one.

Our son was able to donate his eyes, bone, tissue and skin upon his death in May. I know his eyes have been used already. It was very eerie reading the letter about it. But we are very Proud of our son and even in death he was still giving :lovestruc
