I think we should start calling each other by our Star Wars names.

Ok kids, need you help. My sister has left me with this assignment while she's out of town. I have to pull up some WDW menues and sit down with my brother in law and get him to pick a couple places they might want to dine...I will need to FORCE him to do this. But I will prevail in convincing him that a couple of ADRs are a GOOD idea for their post cruise trip. So...I need suggestions. He likes ETHNIC foods and is very fond of calamari. They will be staying at Boardwalk Villas, so something in that area for arrival night is necessary, as well as other choices. I can give a couple high end suggestion (like Blue Zoo), but would want a few choices that aren't that pricy. HELP!
I know I will go with Boma and Jiko, for sure. Is Merekesh in Epcot any good? I know he won't want the Benehana style place in Japan.
I think I'll also mention to them about some good counter service in Epcot (I think they'll be spending a lot of time in Epcot btw).
Marakesh - we've eaten there several times. It''s fun because of the music, belly dancing and ambience. The food is good, not wildly good Moroccan, but passable. For ethnic, I'd vote for it.
Cape May, Beach Club - Perhaps a nice clam bake seafood buffet? It would be an easy stroll over from the Boardwalk. The offering has always looked nice, and then there's dessert at Beaches 'n Cream afterwards.
Sanaa - I wish I could give it a hearty review, but I can't. Not after Sukie's nasty vegetarian pop tart experience. You have Boma and Jiko on the list, either are MUCH better.
Il Mulino, the Swan - NY Italian, I've heard mixed things about it. You can get their latest menu online at the Swan/Dolphin web site.
Flying Fish, Boardwalk - An excellent choice, but like Blue Zoo, high end.
Are you just looking for resorts, or parks too? If so, the menu at Yak and Yeti looks nice, and you know my thoughts on Tusker House.
Portabello Yacht Club, DTD - I know that they have gotten mixed reviews, but I have a friend, Chris from Toronto, one of the collaborator developers for Mouse Manager who
swears by this restaurant. It is a family tradition, that they have a meal there every trip. But be aware, it is not on the dining plan.
Bongos, DTD - I have also heard some very mixed reviews about this one.
Does your brother have kids? If so, what ages? I ask because a MUST with kids, is Whispering Canyon over at the Wilderness Lodge. Kids LOVE it, and it's impossible to get with without an ADR. I think the food is pretty good too (for that sort of menu).
You are well aware of my thoughts and choices for other restaurants.
I would say for arrival night, the two best bets are either Cape May or Marakesh.
So that's my 3 or 4 cents.
(And yes, I do know
every menu in Disney World and the ambiance and decor of
every restaurant).
