I also enjoy Flame Tree Barbque....it's a counter service with yummmy stuff. (I like the chicken):thumbsup2 Inside at Tusker House may be better if for noting but the AIR CONDITIONING! :thumbsup2

.

Flametree is BEAUTIFUL. I don't think many people stop to appreciate the beauty of the restaurant. I have a photo tour of it on my Mouse Manager site in the dining section.

Not only are the seating areas, very nice, there is a motif of predator and prey. The chairs are painted like various predators and the tabletops are painted with prey.

On another note, I also like the ambiance of Tusker House. Across from Tusker House is Fort Harambe, which is our "secret" seating area, where we like to enjoy a pastry from the pastry window, or ice cream from Tamu Tamu refreshments around the corner.

I always wanted to do that Kay, but I was too chicken . You must teach me your tricks of giving out the names and sending caution to the wind :woohoo:

My kids both have first names that are also Scottish Islands. Their second name was a back up (read "more normal" name) in case they really wanted to use an alternative name. Their third name is actually a family name on my husband's side - its his and his sister's middle name (but we didn't want to just give them that as a middle name).

That's how you throw caution to the wind...:rotfl::rotfl: Or is it Mad Dogs and Englishmen...

Thank you.

I think we should start calling each other by our Star Wars names. :darth::yoda::chewy:

Ok kids, need you help. My sister has left me with this assignment while she's out of town. I have to pull up some WDW menues and sit down with my brother in law and get him to pick a couple places they might want to dine...I will need to FORCE him to do this. But I will prevail in convincing him that a couple of ADRs are a GOOD idea for their post cruise trip. So...I need suggestions. He likes ETHNIC foods and is very fond of calamari. They will be staying at Boardwalk Villas, so something in that area for arrival night is necessary, as well as other choices. I can give a couple high end suggestion (like Blue Zoo), but would want a few choices that aren't that pricy. HELP!

I know I will go with Boma and Jiko, for sure. Is Merekesh in Epcot any good? I know he won't want the Benehana style place in Japan.

I think I'll also mention to them about some good counter service in Epcot (I think they'll be spending a lot of time in Epcot btw).

Marakesh - we've eaten there several times. It''s fun because of the music, belly dancing and ambience. The food is good, not wildly good Moroccan, but passable. For ethnic, I'd vote for it.

Cape May, Beach Club - Perhaps a nice clam bake seafood buffet? It would be an easy stroll over from the Boardwalk. The offering has always looked nice, and then there's dessert at Beaches 'n Cream afterwards.

Sanaa - I wish I could give it a hearty review, but I can't. Not after Sukie's nasty vegetarian pop tart experience. You have Boma and Jiko on the list, either are MUCH better.

Il Mulino, the Swan - NY Italian, I've heard mixed things about it. You can get their latest menu online at the Swan/Dolphin web site.

Flying Fish, Boardwalk - An excellent choice, but like Blue Zoo, high end.

Are you just looking for resorts, or parks too? If so, the menu at Yak and Yeti looks nice, and you know my thoughts on Tusker House.

Portabello Yacht Club, DTD - I know that they have gotten mixed reviews, but I have a friend, Chris from Toronto, one of the collaborator developers for Mouse Manager who swears by this restaurant. It is a family tradition, that they have a meal there every trip. But be aware, it is not on the dining plan.

Bongos, DTD - I have also heard some very mixed reviews about this one.

Does your brother have kids? If so, what ages? I ask because a MUST with kids, is Whispering Canyon over at the Wilderness Lodge. Kids LOVE it, and it's impossible to get with without an ADR. I think the food is pretty good too (for that sort of menu).

You are well aware of my thoughts and choices for other restaurants.

I would say for arrival night, the two best bets are either Cape May or Marakesh.

So that's my 3 or 4 cents.

(And yes, I do know every menu in Disney World and the ambiance and decor of every restaurant).

Rose and Crown is really good, along with Le Cellier of course. I agree about the Cape May Cafe as well. If he wants a pricey meal, I don't think you can go wrong with the Yachtsman's Steakhouse. What guy doesn't like a big juicy steak?

Thanks Ian. This is for Peg & Jose (no kids). I really think it's important that they at least have an ADR for Sat night. They will have put in a long day; getting off the ship, picking up a rental car; going to the place I can never remeber the name of (outside all day like a Renaissance festival), then driving back and checking into the hotel. I know they'll want a nice, nearby, cool place to dine.

:lmao:Jose! No steak houses...no 'midwestern/German' food! :lmao:Mostly he teases Peg and I about that....though he's been known to ask for meatloaf!

HEY....does anyone know if the new place Paradisio 27 or whatever it is has paella? He LOVES that!

Oh, for Peg and Jose? How about the Flying Fish? A most excellent choice. Again, an ADR is a must for the Flying Fish.

I just reread your message - for arrival night, I'd go with Cape May. They can have dinner and just relax.

This has been added to your entry on page 1 post 1
I think disneylove69 is also forming the list and that it is part of Ian's survey--see page 1 post 1 listing of activities and the link beneath the list of the survey location. :)

Do they have clams & mussles there? Do they have calamari? (Can you tell I don't eat that stuff?) I know they have shrimp! I'll add this to my list of menues to print out.

......too bad all those new menues aren't loaded into MouseManager yet....or are they?

.

Mmmmm, calamari. I love that stuff. DCL has the best. Oh and another vote for Flame Tree BBQ in AK. Good food and great atmosphere for a counter service.

OH......by the way......no fuel surcharge refund (OBC) for us...:sad1: :sad2:
