September 10, 2005 - Western Cruise!

20 days!!!! How unbelievable! How exciting!!! I can almost hear the Sail Away party music now...... "Hhhhheeeeeeeeeyyyy, hey baby (ooo, ahhh) I wanna know-o-o if you'll be my girl" :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Someone else may have already asked this so if it is a rerun please forgive me.

I picked up our docs for the cruise on Friday and noticed that it doesn't mention a formal or semi-formal night. It just says that a jacket for men or a dress/pantsuit for women is required at lumiere's and palos but that the rest of the restaurants only require resort casual wear (no shorts, jeans or tank tops).

So is there no longer a formal night on the Magic? If not then I can leave the formal dress at home and take a more comfortable less dressy dress.

This will be our first cruise so I can't speak from experience. But from what I've read on these boards and elsewhere, formal night is usually on Monday night. I'll be packing my suit as will my DS and the DW will be bringing her formal dress. We're looking forward to it.

we have now reached the magic number 30,
30 more days until we cruise, 29 days until I depart Roanoke Va, to head to the FL. :cool1:
I just found this thread yeasterday - I have finally found someone as excited as I am!! My husband and daughter just roll their eyes at me when I talk about the cruise. I just simply can not wait!!! It sounds like you are pretty close to us - we live on the border of WV and VA - I make a trip to Roanoke about every 3 weeks for shopping, nails, etc. I have one 8 year old daughter named Chelsea and can not even imagine the cost of having 3!!!! I hope to get to meet your family - is it still on Sail away day at 5:15 in Promenade Lounge??

Both Grand Cayman and Cozumel have their share of great places to shop, eat and drink. Each has their own things that are great deals to shop for. There will be a number of cruise approved shops I'm sure. Usually they are a good deal. It may seem like another place is cheaper but you can't be sure you are getting what you paid for. If the cruise line approves it, they usually act for you once you get home should there be something wrong. I assume this is the same for Disney as it was for Carnival and Royal Caribbean, which who I have cruised with prior to this. Take note that in Grand Cayman your dollar isn't worth as much as theirs. So should you go to a restaurant or bar and see a price of $10 it will be more then the $10 dollar bill in your pocket.

What FLTink says about Carlos is true... you will not be the same when you "walk" out (if you can) as when you walked in! The great thing is that you have people of all ages joining in the fun. They even include the restaurant side in the fun and get them going as well, yes, they do have food LOL :bounce:

Of course I will be the one sitting in the corner behaving myself. :rolleyes1

Welcome to our thread! What room are you guys in?

Just so you all know, Donnica isn't kidding....she WILL be the one in the corner behaving herself. But only because she'll be too drunk to move away from the support of the wall!

As far as the question about evening attire goes, as of the current cruise that is taking place as we speak, they still have formal and semi-formal night. It may have just not been worded right on the docs. I'd say, better safe than sorry!

Can you all believe as of tomorrow we'll be into a countdown that's only double digits and starts with a 1??????? 19 days to go seemed so unattainable just back in June! But we made it!

WOW!!!!!
Can you believe that we are going to be sailing in 19 day??????!!!!!!!
:thewave:
Started my packing list last night and started laying out the extras, over the door shoe holder, underwater cameras, sunscreen, laundry bag, oh man I am going to need one suit case for all the extras.
See ya real soon.

I started that last night, also. I went to Walmart to get the exact things you mentioned!

Still no docs for us, but I know that our TA has them.

Holy Cow! We should just change our DISmeet to the elevator area or the laundry room on Deck 6. Ha! :rotfl:

fltink: your frame signing idea is brilliant! i love it.

my room number is 6317. debbiechelsea: that's a few doors down from you i think. it's deck 6, pretty convenient location from what i could see on the map, right near the stairs/elevator. we go up 3 decks to activities/pool and down 3 to eat. that's good, since i plan on taking the stairs and walking as much as possible to burn off all that fabulous food.

Stina - I will be right behind you walking those stairs. I will need to do something to work off all the desserts esp. the Mickey Ice Cream Bars. Yummy!!!!

Does anyone know how much the pics are from shutters? I remembering reading they have packages. But can you also buy individual pics? Also anyone know what sizes they come in? Is it one set size or do they do different sizes.

Roughly $10 and $20 for 6x8 (how convenient - you have to buy their frames) and 8x10. I did the package last time but I can't remember the details.

I do remember that the packages are all 6x8s or all 8x10s and that's when it gets confusing as to whether it's worth it. Most, if not all of your "casual" pictures (i.e. when they come around at dinner, around the pools, at CC) are 6x8 and the formal ones (where you actually stand in line and there's a backdrop, with or without characters) are 8x10. I only had 2 casual pictures last time so I did the 8x10 package. Actually my sister and I split a package I think.
