Can anyone tell me what to expect for our visit In September. We are going from the 8-14 this time as I am told it's less busy and cheaper.

I understand it's off season and we risk not having the full entertainment schedule. I am unable to see what the park hours will be?

Will there be fireworks each night?

Is Aladdin running at that time?

How about parades?

How often does fantasmic run, is it weekends only? It's my husbands favourite part, we often stay for both shows :)

Does anyone know what rides may be closed during that time?

I have booked the bwppi at 135$ a night (first time) we are a family of 6 and often have trouble finding hotels to accommodate us in one room. I hope we will be happy (previous hotels we have stayed at are, Fairfield inn. Desert palms ) good choice?

I would be grateful for Any other tips you have to offer my large family

Thanks

I have been twice in September and both times had very manageable crowds. Hours are shorter - probably 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Fantasmic and Fireworks will only be Fri-Sun. Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain will most likely be down for the first part of your trip for installation of the NBC and Ghost Galaxy overlays. There is a possibility the these two rides will be open on the 13th and 14th if the Halloween season begins that week-end. There should be a parade at both parks each day.

I hope you have a wonderful trip.

Park hours are posted 45-days in advance, with full entertainment and EMH/MMs info usually posted about 30-day in advance. Dining reservations come open 60-days in advance. You can look at last year's September calendar to get a sense of the hours during your stay. My general guess is that DL and DCA will be open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm or 8:00 pm on the weekdays and from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm (DCA) or 11:00 pm or midnight (DL) on Fri, Sat, and Sun.

In terms of crowds, I would expect the weekdays to be pretty quite (Monday to Thursday). Crowds are likely to pick up starting on Friday (9/12) for two reasons. At this point, that's the best guess everyone has of when HalloweenTime will start. So it means Haunted Mansion Holiday (HMH) and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy (SMGG) will both open, along with any other HalloweenTime activities (e.g., Halloween Carnival at Big Thunder Ranch). So crowds will be high through the weekend as the locals come out to see the Halloween fun. Also, Friday (9/12) is the Fall Dapper Days, which can add to the crowds in the parks.

Fantasmic will likely be at 9:00 pm and 10:30 pm on Fri, Sat, and Sun only. It's pretty unlikely that it'll be running on the weekdays. It generally only runs nightly during Spring Break, summer, Thanksgiving week, and the Christmas Holiday season.

As the PP mentioned, for the first part of your trip (Mon-Thur), Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain are both likely to be closed to have the overlays installed. Nemo subs are likely to still be closed. Given how inconsistent this year's rehab schedule has been (i.e., things changing all the time), it's pretty hard to guess if anything else will be down. My instinctive answer is that other things will be down, but I don't know which ones they will be.

The BWPPI is a pretty standard motel...nothing fancy or frilly, but I found it acceptable and go there every trip. It's very conveniently located to DLR. The rooms are on the dimmer side (even with all of the lights on), but it's not so bad that you can't see things. The staff (most of them) seem friendly enough and I've not had any major issues when I've stayed there. I think the Fairfield Inn was a "nicer" motel, but the proximity of the BWPPI makes it my family's preferred choice.

We did September in 2012 for our first family trip and loved it! We hit Wednesday, Thursday, Friday! Such a low key time to visit and it was perfect for our young kids. Friday picked up a bit but the other days were amazing low crowds! So much so we were a little spoiled and had a bit of a shock when we did October 2013 lol After this years trip, November 2014 for the Christmas season, we will go back to September for a 2015 trip. It tends to be pretty hot in September. 86 degrees feels pretty hot on that black top. We were defiantly in shorts and Tees. Haunted Mansion was closed for Halloween overlay and Indiana Jones for repair but we really didn't notice anything else being down. Defiantly was one my favorite trip due to the ease of crowds! Have a blast.

I went last year and in 2010 in September with work and I'm going this September with my husband and 3.5 yr old. So obviously I'm OK with September ;)

The crowds aren't too bad at all and other than at the end of Fantasmic or fireworks, it's pretty easy to get around and the line-ups aren't too crazy. Last year I seem to recall that 'Colour of the World' was every night but the night shows in DL were only on weekends so try to figure out what you're going to see on what night based on that (and confirm once they release the schedule closer to when you go obviously).

We're staying in the BWPVI when we go this year as we wanted close and a full breakfast being included is a nice bonus. Another one to look into is the Tropicana which also has suites which should be big enough for your family. We stayed there last year (in a "wheelchair" accessible room so I can't comment on the regular rooms but it was kept clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating for us). And it's right next tot he BWPVI so the location is good for walking in to the parks.
