After 30 years in second grade I will be in WDW the middle of September :cool1: . I have never been able to go when it was not a school vacation. Our school does not allow personal days to be used for "personal use". Go Figure!! I am hoping for smaller crowds and cooler weather. Yes or no? I was surprised to see how early the parks close. I would welcome and pointers or suggestions. Thanks !!

You must have been the oldest third grader in history :rotfl:

And I thought my time as a junior was the worst 2 years in my life HAW
you got me beat bigtime

It can be very hot and humid still, wifea nd I were there last Sept and the days were 90+ everyday and very humid nights were nice though. Use the EMH at night to get longer park hours

enjoy

Hi,

You WILL have smaller crowds.

You WILL NOT have cooler weather!

Hey, one out of two ain't bad!

Enjoy your trip,

OP, we'll be going in September as well (10-16) for the firs time. Crowds are smaller because kids are back in school, but I'm not sure about the temps. I've been looking at the history of temps and I'm still seeing upper 80s and reaching 90. That's usually what it's been for us when we traveled in the summer. What I do see as being crowded are the restaurants since it's the time of free dining (for those who had that package).

Yes, I'll agree with the other posters...smaller crowds but hot & HUMID weather!! (actually one of the hottest months in FL if I remember right - if you've never experienced the FL humidity in summer, you might be in for a surprise)

The crowds will be smaller. Yay! The weather may not be much cooler, but you're not elbow to elbow with everyone. Yay! Even though the hours are shorter, we still take a break in the middle of the day to cool off, swimming or napping. With smaller crowds you can do more in a shorter period of time. Congratulations on all your time well spent in the 2nd grade!

oh Florida September weather- where is the air conditioner at?????? We went last september for the free dining and also enjoying this year as well. To tell the truth I had a hard time with the heat but I think this year I will be better prepared because of the HOT summer we are having right here in Western New York- hot and steamy, let me tell you. Nighttime is awesome at Disney World especially sitting around your resort pool. We take breaks in the afternoon to return to our resort, go swimming or take a nap. You are in luck though because you will find air conditioned buidings everywhere you go in the world- just duck inside for a quick refreshment to cool you off.

Thanks for your thoughts. I will not be putting my shorts away! I may have been in second grade for 30 years but I have only had 15 birthdays! . . . . My birthday is Feb. 29th. and I am still young at heart!!! :cheer2:

Very funny! You are one complex person!

Enjoy your trip. We will be there as well...in the heat.

Sounds similar to me, although I haven't been in second grade all these years, but mastering math in high school. Finally wore out after 26 years, so this year I'll be able to go in September for the first time. I went once in late August-hopefully it won't be hotter than that, nor will there be a hurricane. Getting prepared knowing where all the air conditioned attractions/resturants are!

Crowds are very low in Sept.
Heat is hit or miss
some years are worse than others but it IS cooler then July and August as I think this is what you were asking.
last Sept was BAD the two before were ok... :thumbsup2

Oooooooooo, me, too!!! 33 years---started in 8th grade reading and English and ended up in primary, lots of kindergarten. I WAS a reading specialist. We are going Sept. 5-10, just when my district starts back to school! Last year we went Aug 20-25. I am expecting hot, humid weather and very low crowds because that's what it was like last year!

Congrats to all my fellow educators on a new chapter!!!!!

Have a great time..................

I go in September and just tell them I am sick of school. :)

We'll be there the 19th - 24th. Maybe we'll run into you. My wife and I both teach.

Wow you finally maded it to third grade after 30 years trying, bless your heart. :rotfl2:

We have visited late September twice. It's hot, very hot, the crowds are OK but they were big last year, I think it was the "free dinning". I feel that anytime in Disney is a great time. Go and enjoy!

We go every September (going this year on the 17th)

As far as crowds go it is the best time of year.

As far as weather - well hot and steamy with showers in the afternoon. To further define it hot meaning 98 degrees and a very high dew point, meaning condensation will collect on your body making you feel like you just showered but cannot get dry.

Aslo we were in a hurricane 2 Septembers ago. It is the peak "tropical season" not jsut for hurricanes but for tropical storms, depressions and just plain rain.

However we still go every September and enjoy it very much, it is actually our favorite time to go (2nd week of Dec a close second). The low crowds more than make up for the steamy weather. Attractions are walk on and restaurant tables are in abundance. You will be able to do the parks in half the time and have plenty of time to enjoy the resort. No super planning needed this time of year.
