Sept or Oct 2010...which will be better chance for deals?

HI perhaps some of you season'd WDW travellers can help me sort out when to to.
My son will be 6 on Oct 6. We are going in honor of his birthday. He will be starting Kindergarten in 2010 and we are going to pull him out for a week.
Is there a better chance to get free dining in late Sept or Early October?

We are also looking for moderate resort close to MK. Any Suggestions?

We are wondering between Oct. 11-16, 2010 and Sept. 13-18, 2010. I assume that September is better. How different are these two periods in terms of volume and possible discounts. Thanks.

August has free dining. that's a pretty good deal..

Historically when free dining is offered, it is offered first in August & September. It does often get extended, but if that is your only criteria, I would plan on September rather than October.
