Who DH or the two year old?

There is not much fun in long haul flights is there!

It is the 2 year old who wants to go home.

I can't sleep, I have never had an issue with jet lag in the past, and considering I only slept for 2 hours on the plane, I thought I would be exhausted.

We have been watching the news, and I am seriously considering cancelling the NY portion of our trip. We are meant to be going there on Wednesday, until Sunday. Gosh I wish I was not such a worry wart!

Jade, not sure if you will get to read this but - in mid last year there was a van found in Times Square that was supposed to have explosives (or something) in it. My mum and dad got to New York about 3 days later, stayed at the Marriott Times Square, and they said that they felt completely safe because of the heightened security. :thumbsup2

I am quite happy to have the extra security in NYC next week (yes, NEXT WEEK!!!), but you have to be happy with your decision. If you haven't been before, I promise that you will LOVE it!

Good luck getting to sleep, I just remember my brother falling asleep next to me on POTC in DL in 1997, maybe a couple of spins on that will help! ;)

Ooh Jade, try to get some rest before deciding on missing NY.

I understand what you are saying about the 2 year old - we went to Qld a couple of weeks before DD turned 3, and most of the trip we had "I want to go home...." We kept her busy, and told us in x sleeps the plane comes to take us back home and see Nanny.

PS: Glad to hear you've arrived safely.

Jade there was already heightened security when we were there and we felt completely safe i have never seen so many policeman in my life as what we saw in NY they were everywhere even in the middle of the night when i looked out our hotel room at 3am (:rolleyes1thought it was morning and we had slept in) all i could see apart from the gorgeous lights of Times square was a streetsweeper and 2 policemen walking past.
In honesty out of our whole trip it was the safest we felt which was very surprising for us because we thought about cancelling as well.
We felt so safe I let our 14 and 15 year old go out to grab breakfast from McDonalds on their own only a few doors from the hotel but that was HUGE:eek: for me.

:thumbsup2I agree with busy busy I promise you will love it and you will feel safe. Good luck with your decision

Franrose, do you fly down to Sydney and catch VA1?

I realize that I sound like I'm worried - I'm truly not! It struck me that it would be crazy for you to be on the flight too - Bondgirl and I are already on board - so I was going to welcome you to the party!

Besides, how do you know that my 2 kids are going to be any less trouble than your 35?! :lmao:

Are we taking over the entire plane?

No - it's a direct flight Bris - LAX but we still have our Crystal Palace "date" on the 23rd ;) (I think?)

LOL - I am worried!! I hope it all goes ok. The "group" aspect is not something I am looking forward to, being hearded around and told what to do for the sake of a bunch of kids, rather than just doing our own thing. For eg, we have to arrive at the airport four hours ahead of time on Friday (6.30am for a 10.30am flight) - it's those little things that makes it all more painful than travelling independantly, kwim...

Shame we won't be flying together, but Crystal Palace on 23/9 is a date! :yay:

4 hours early is painful isn't it! Do you know the dates that the kids will be dancing - also where they will be dancing - DD7 and I would love to watch if we are close by. popcorn::

I just got an itinerary today Busy Busy - I'm sure the dancers would appreciate any Aussie support! Although their dance date might not be an MK day for you - it looks like they perform at the "Waterside Stage" on the 24th (I assume that's MK? But not 100% sure). I think the rest of their WDW is free or in workshops, but they perform at both DL and CA in the week prior.

I just had a look, and the Waterside Stage is at Downtown Disney. We are at Epcot that day, but I will wish you luck when I see you at Crystal Palace! :goodvibes

:scratchin i know i just got back but reading all your countdowns is so making me want to think about another trip the disboards has given me another ticker that i didnt create so is that a sign:rotfl2::jumping1:

Lets have a look at mine shall we.........:yay:

oh and can you believe its going to be 30 on monday after an awesome weekend of around 26............

I'll join in too! I'm 11 sleeps away. Or 2 sleeps to the single digit boogie! :lmao: The single digit boogie is my current countdown!

:lmao:

Oooh what does mine say... (I know what it says, it says PANIC! I'm not quite ready!! [We have a massive renovation starting four days after we get home. I still need to pick out a toilet suite and finalise a kitchen plan and a bathroom plan and an ensuite plan and a laundry plan and sign off a tile quote and have our kitchen etc measured up and pick out a short bath spout and and and... then I can start relaxing and packing lol!])

OMG, sorry to say Franrose, but if I had to do all that (I'm terrible at making quick decisions!), I would be so stressed and in panic mode :scared1:

Checking the ticker too! :goodvibes

30 degrees next Monday is crazy, I hope that everybody back here at home enjoys it. We, on the other hand will be in New York, and my DD7 and I will be at American Girl! Just as good as a 30 degree day in Sydney (maybe better)! :lovestruc
