Sept / Oct 2011

Just come back from the bank - let them know where we are so should have no probs with the credit card! (I hope not to use it, but may need it as a backup)

Have to organise for our mail to be held at post office. Oh and arrange transport to the airport!!

And, yes I did it, I got the suitcase out - as we are not wearing our summer gear at the moment, I got it out and took stock of what I may need to get. As we are also doing a cruise, we have to take some "dressy clothes" which is fine for me, ladies dresses dont take much room, but I am really torn about whether to take DH's suit, its a lot of lugging around for 3 nights he may wear it, but he does look handsome in it and we dont get the opportunity to dress up much. :confused3

It really is getting close - I havent looked at exchange rate today - too scared - what can you do - the trip is paid for its only spending money and I already have a bit stashed away - a couple less margaritas -

re the suit issue & cruises, my DH takes his, as he hates to feel underdressed on formal night. We just get it pressed when we get onboard, and he can wear the suit pants on other nights. Just remember to pack his dress shoes as sandshoes may not look too good:rotfl:, oh and a belt & black soxs.Speaking from experience here:laughing:

exchange rate, its going up again so don't panic.....

Can somebody PLEASE guarantee me that Hamish and Andy will have left New York by the time that I get there on 16 September....that is about the worst show ever - and I've only had to sit through the ads!

I am with you there Busy Busy. We get to New York on the 14th. I have only seen the adds too.

I have sick kids. The doctor says they expect the flu season to hit hard over the next few weeks. Not what I wanted to hear with 4 weeks to go.

Travel Mum / Happy Fingers

Are you guys intending on packing suits for your cruise?

I have discussed this on cruise critic, but none of them are travelling from down under on a multileg trip.

We are packing tux pants and formal shirts but not bringing the jackets. I can't bear to lug them around Europe and the USA when we could be using that valuable luggage space for shopping!

Oh boo hoo the rocket launch that we had hoped to watch on October 8 has been postponed until December :sad1: I had so wanted to be there for this especially for my DH's sake as this trip is really all about my choices (but, as he has no interest in planning, then that's how the ball rolls and he doesn't complain!).

Yes let's compare tickers :goodvibes
I have had a chest infection and flu going on for 6 weeks - I have 3 weeks to get completely well :scared1:

OK. You showed me yours so I'll show you mine.....

:dance3:

my son has been off school the last couple of days with a very icky cold. I d't want him to get any sicker so home he stays!
I just hope he is a bad sharer.

Okay, I'll have a look at Pluto and Mickey. Even though we have over a month to go, Pluto is already at Mickey now so that shows how long ago I started my ticker!! :rotfl: I remember clearly when Pluto was in the first third of his journey so what seemed like such a long time. :rotfl2:

Oh I beg to differ, I think Hamish and Andy are hilarious! Although I see how you could be put off by there ads.

Its pretty cool to watch their show and catch glimpses of NYC that you dont normally see in tourist brochures (:rotfl: does anyone actually have these anymore?)

I have actually registered on their website - they are looking for Aussies that will be in NYC this year - I dont know if they will be there still in October or if they will contact us but you never know.

I gave up on DH "pulling his finger out" and found an airport transfer :cool1:

$110 each way - much better than $200 that I was getting from every other quote.

BRING IT ON!!!!

So disappointed for you Travel mum (with the rocket launch!) :(

DH LOVES Hamish & Andy. Sits watching it, laughing till he nearly cries! I'd register on their site but I'd be worried about what antics they'd want to subject someone to

So disappointed for you Travel mum (with the rocket launch!) :(

Thanks Franrose, I should never have got me hopes up as I always knew they were subject to change. However, it was just so exciting to think we would see a rocket launch as I doubt that is ever something we would have seen again in our lives. :sad1:

However, on a positive note, that day now becomes a much more relaxing day for us! We just move hotels and probably hit the shops for the first time :)

Battymum - I'm so happy that you have sorted out getting to and from the airport - I nearly had my ex-husband zooming up the M7 to collect you!! ;)

Also, Travel Mum - that's really disappointing about the rocket. When we saw Columbia launch in April 1997, it had already been delayed by more than a week (announced in the January, so we had to change hotels, flights, transfers in 5 different cities for 7 people :scared1: )...then when we arrived in Orlando it was again delayed, but only by a day. The fact that I ever saw that thing take off is a miracle, I'm sure that I can attribute at least a couple of wrinkles to those 3 months! :)

As for the ticker - :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes Tinkerbell is nearly all teacupped out!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

My countdown is made that much sweeter by the fact that at this time in two weeks, I will be staying near the Brisbane portside, preparing to cruise the next day! That will eat up a week of my waiting time, then I'll have a week back before DH's parents arrive to stay, then another week and we're off!! I think it's going to fly by (too fast probably, we are organising a kitchen/bathrooms renovation for a week after we get back and I'M NOT READY lol!!) The cruise was booked 13 months ago so I'm used to waiting for it!

My ticker still looks miles off, ha ha. I made it well after we booked this trip (which was last year)! :rotfl:

Looks like I am beating all of you in the Ticker showdown :cool1:.

I am getting so very excited, enhanced by the fact that me and DBF put $5000 on a travel money card the begining of last week at its highest point before the $ started going down again :banana::banana::banana:

ps, I think Hamish and Andy are hilarious  we were nearly crying with laughter watching it.

I think I might beat you in the ticker stakes. My first ticker is for the Disney med cruise and the second is for the wow stay. I am VERY excited.
