Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

I saw those rates on Orbitz yesterday, too. I might just book through them so I have the resort I want (in my case, Coronado Springs) for a price that's only a bit more than what I figured a 30% discount through Disney would get me. Plus, I can get cash back with Ebates so that will help recover some of those additional fees Orbitz has.

If I can get the 30% for CSR tomorrow, like you said, I can cancel Orbitz without penalty.

If only this had gone live Monday, as speculated... then I wouldn't be driving myself and my sister crazy

Will post my results tomorrow, even if I'm unable to get what I want.

I have never booked or even checked room rates on Orbitz but with all this talk about the discounts I just went and checked my dates for the Poly Std room and it comes out $200 less than what I currently have booked thru my TA at a discount, of course my tickets would increase $100+ so my savings would just be under $100.

I have to say in the future I will be checking for Orbitz Deals

Can someone please explain how these discounts work? Last year, I had booked at OKW, online, and didn't realize that FD was available (hadn't found the DIS yet). Then, one day I called Disney to ask about something else and the CM said "oh and we have a lowest price available guarantee, which means I can give you FD for your dates", so that call saved me a little over $1000. This year, I am booked in a 2 bed villa at BLT in early Oct, missing the dates of FD but included in the RO offer. But, I am not sure if I will get the RO discount, because there is already NO availability for my dates for 2 bed villas at BLT. Will they apply the discount to my current reservation or will i be SOL because there are no 2 bed villas left?

So, after seeing a few posters mention Orbitz, I was just checking them out. Bear in mind, I was doing this from my iPhone. But, I noticed that they would have a really low rate for a room and then (clicking on see more rooms), they would list the same room category again, but it would say next to it: "Disney Resort Benefits". When the room had this phrase, it would be for a price comparable to Travelocity, about 30 bucks higher, give or take.

What do we think this means? If I book a low rate for a King bed instead of the King bed at a higher price which references Disney resort benefits, am I somehow going to be denied some resort or WDW amenities? How could that even work? Just curious if anyone else noticed this.

I am not sure I also did not see a place to enter the Hotel10 code mentioned on another thread but the deal on Tickets is buy 3 Days get 2 free making their deal cheaper for our trip by $150 now if I only had the $ to book it now :rotfl2:

Unfortunately no, those are on a per night basis. So you get discounts for each night that falls under the promotion dates.

The more I read the more confused I get.

If the room only discount starts in the middle of my stay will I need to check out and check back in the get it applied to the days it is available? I'll do that if I have to, but I just want to know what to expect when I call.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

I apologize, I'm going to ask a question that I know has been asked before, but I just can't find the answer!

Can I try booking online tomorrow morning if it's a confirmed GP offer and not DV? I already have a reservation, but I want to quickly find out what the discounts are for each mod without joining the hordes of people calling in at 7am, and I figure the easiest way to do that is through the website. If so, would the offer go live at 7am online too?

You enter promo codes a couple of pages after the one where you have the chance to add tickets to your reservation. Go past that one, fill out your info on the next page, and then you should be taken to the payment detail page. At the top, you can enter promo codes. I used the HOTEL10 code, and it worked for my dates in October.

Yes, you will have to check out and check back in again. To get the discount, your first night has to be the discounted rate.

Meaning if you are there Oct 1-15, and the RO discount is only for Oct 1-10, you will get a discount for 1-10 and pay rack rate for 11-15.

But if your dates are Sept 25-Oct 10, you will need a rack rate reservation for Sept 25-Oct 1, check out on Oct 1, re-check in on Oct 1 and get the RO discount for Oct 1-10.

The CM's will try their best to get you the same room, but there is no guarantee.

Edited because apparently I gave incorrect information - sorry!

No, for RO rates, you will not have to check out and check back in. They charge room rates based on the price of the room on each individual night of your stay. For example, weekend nights cost more than weekday nights. The discount rates will only be applied to the nights of your stay that qualifies for the discount rates, but you do not have to have a split reservation or check out and check back in like you would have to do for the free dining promotion.

Sorry Shagley, but I disagree.

I looked into booking a RO discount BB when I was in WDW in May and was told I had to have two reservations by the CM on the phone.

She was right because the first time I called to get a quote, I thought it was high and I looked on the website and it was rack rate, so I called back and that is when the CM told me that to get the discount, your reservation has to begin on a date that the RO discount is offered.

That is interesting, because I could have swore that I had done this before. Apparently not, because when I went to the website to check it out, you are right, it won't let me do it. I'll edit my post so not to confuse anyone :thumbsup2

Hoping I have some results to type in! We are not in the window for FD (oct 5-12) and we are in LK suites at AOA - crossing my fingers and toes that I'm not excluded from RO. There are 10 of us and we have 2 suites. If we had to switch to standard rooms somewhere else it would be REALLY crowded. Only 1 little one (7). All the rest are grown ups and 17 year olds. They take up a lot of space!

We're also excluded from FD - going 10/8-10/14. We're at POR, really hoping there's an RO (although we're going regardless), would make my day!!

Ok, I just got up to speed on the Chip and Co thing - I am totally confused on why POR would be excluded from the Room Only discount. POFQ I've seen excluded before, and new things like AOA, but POR? I looked for our time, and there is availability in all but Preferred and Standard rooms - which equals like 7 open categories :confused3. Why potentially exclude POR but include POFQ when it's blocked from dining.

I'm in business, I get the whole supply/demand equation, but FD and RO exclusions not matching up don't make sense to me - they are both about the same starting supply/demand, right?

I'm really hoping Chip has the wrong info. Really really really.

It is my understanding that you only have to do a split stay if the overall offer (meaning the start date of the Fall offer) falls in the middle of your trip. Meaning if your stay is Sept. 27-Oct 5, but the whole deal doesn't start until Sept. 29, you would have to do a split stay. I'm pretty sure that's how it works or at least how it used to. I'm almost positive that I booked with a PIN one year and my first few dates were at rack rate with the rest being 30% off. I have never done a split stay. I'll see if I can find an old email and see if that is true. I'll come back with what I find out.

Is this true? I don't understand why they just can't apply the discount to each night individually. It would be such a hassle to check out and then back in.

Does anyone know whether a RO discount can typically be applied to the Deluxe Room in the CR-Garden Wing? I am concerned because from what I have read, there are only three of this room type.

Thanks.

Ok, I just need to vent some frustration here; for the first time I went through AAA instead of doing it myself. My AAA TA keeps telling me no one knows anything about these discounts (despite my passing on some of CM comments reported here about tomorrow), and clearly doesn't believe me. :rolleyes2

I made a big fuss about the possible DV drop on Monday and then felt kinda silly when it didn't happen. On the bright side (sort of?), she wasn't at work and didn't bother asking anyone else to check for me. I have no confidence that she'll even try to call Disney when she gets in tomorrow sometime after 9 EST, which may be too late in any case if there is the volume of early calls we all anticipate. :worried:

Nothing I can do at this point, but I'll be on the phone first thing with the rest of you, and maybe some kind CM will let me go ahead and add the RO discount anyway. :confused3

Can you cancel your reservation through AAA and book a new one yourself?

I agree with shellypaige. That is why I avoid dealing with AAA TA. I booked my own room-only reservation and was able to apply a AAA discount to it. I just don't feel that AAA TAs work for you. I mean some people have had good experiences, but I just don't trust that they have your best interest in heart.
