Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

My parents have a reservation that I booked and paid the deposit with my Disney Visa. Can I call and apply the discount to their reservation on the cardholder release date even though I am not going? I always make all their travel arrangements and I have two rooms booked for them and my aunt/uncle. I do not want to do something that is not allowed or frowned upon, but since I will be making the payments with my Disney Visa I thought I would ask.
Also, just to clarify...they are currently in a Value but hoping to upgrade to a mod if a discount was released. I booked before the price increases in dining and tickets. Can I upgrade to a mod without totally rebooking and avoid the price increase since that would decrease the amount saved? Thanks!

Apologize in advance if this is answered in the thread somewhere but does anyone know if the BW Villas will be included in the discount and if so what the discount may be?

I was able to apply a room discount during a Disney Visa discount period not only to our room, but to our daughter's room as well, and we weren't even paying for her room. We were traveling together and had our reservations linked, but paying separately. I asked the CM if I could get the discount for my daughter, too, and she said yes. So I'm sure you can get the discount for your parents, especially if you are the one paying for it. ;)

Subbing...hoping for either FD or RO discount for November trip. Particularly curious about specific rooms only discounts on Preferred rooms at POR :)

Not sure if anyone would know this...

If I'd want to upgrade with the RO offer, and the type of room I want is not currently available for our week according to the website, could they be holding back availability for now? Or if it's not currently available, then it's totally booked, so look for something else & don't even ask for it when I call?

I'm not sure about Disney "holding back rooms" but I can tell you that in the past, I've been able most times to change my room when the discounts come out. Just like you, many people change their room reservation. Sometimes it takes persistence. I've called everyday sometimes. Especially when you're in the window that people have made deposits, & the rest of their trip isn't completely paid for. Keep trying!!

I am by no means an expert, but I would think they wouldn't hold back the rooms. If they can book the rooms at full price there would be no means to hold them back to try and offer a discount on them.

I hope they are holding back rooms because as of right now, the Disney website is showing very limited availability for the dates I want (11/6-11/10). I went to WDW around the same time last year and I didn't book my trip until September and got a room at POFQ. However, right now the Disney website is showing POFQ completely booked up for those dates and I find that hard to believe. I was planning to stay at WL anyway, but according to the website, only the more expensive rooms are available and I find that hard to believe too.

If it is true, that is upsetting because I've been planning this trip all year but was waiting until August to book it because that's when I expected the RO discount to be offered. :(

Ok guys, here's some info.

The Room Only Discounts will run from September 29th until December 23rd, with blackouts during Thanksgiving week (Nov 23-29).

This could be available for booking August 1, with Visa holders getting in on July 29.

The Discounts vary depending on resort, and should be along the lines of the following (note: these are fluid and can fluctuate slightly after release):

Value Resorts = up to 25%
Moderate Resorts = up to 30%
Deluxe Resorts and Deluxe Villa Resorts = up to 35%

These percentages can vary by room type and availability. For example, Resorts such as French Quarter and Art of Animation are likely be less. It's just too detailed to list each specific at this time, as even rooms in the same resort can have different discounts. So the percentages above should be read as a maximum percentage off, since some room types are lower.

As usual, some rooms, such as Little Mermaid rooms and Campsites, are excluded.

A word of thanks as well to Dave at **************. He and I have had continued discussions on this topic for some time and shared much insight on the Free Dining and Room Discount promotions both in September and beyond.

Isn't that Jersey week? With all the trip cancellations that occurred last year due to Hurricane Sandy, my assumption would be it would be even busier this year, wouldn't you think? I know there were alot of disappointed families that had to cancel due to not being able to miss more school, teachers who couldn't get off, etc.

Tacking onto Mickeynut... You'd be booking a ticketless package so you would cancel and rebook just like normal. They can't add the DP to a room only reservation even though that's technically what you're getting.

Thank you and Mickeynut for the help. I've been a couple of times in the last year but this is the first time that I am looking at having an AP so things are pretty confusing. I don't know what I would do without the DIS!!

I think it is Jersey Week and I know the F&W festival is also during that time, but I figured since I got a reservation so easily last year, I'd be able to do it again this year. I didn't consider the effect that Hurricane Sandy might have had on things last year.

Worst case scenario, I'll just choose another hotel or change my dates to another week if I need to (although I already bought my plane tickets so I'd have to change those too).

So, can we assume there are two different offers being released on Monday...Free Dining and a separate Room Only Discount? If so, I predict a lot of confused Cast Members on the Reservation line!

I also predict many people being late for work, myself included!

Am I understanding this correctly?

It happened this way for the September dates as well. The majority of the callers were for free dining.

Thanks Joe for all of your help and input. We're not getting Free Dining, but I am delighted to get a Room Discount, every bit helps these days.

Keep up the good work!

OOOOOPS! I tried to add a ticker, but clearly that didn't work.

Can anyone tell me what I did wrong, please?

I am currently booked but been doing Disney "Math" the past few days thinking about possibly changeing resorts if the savings was worth it.

My question is I know in previous years 2010 or 2011 when the discount read save up to 35% at Deluxes and Villas, it was the Villas that were at the 35% making them cheaper than a Std room at th same resort.

ie...BC Studio was 35% off vs 30% off a a GV room at BC and since rates on a Villa do not go up for Fri&Sat night stays plus no charge for 3rd & 4th Adults the savings was substantially more.

I am thinking this is how the Discounts of "up to " 35% will be this time too???

i have a question - i currently have a package booked at all star movies with a free dining pin for 12/19-12/24. how can i see if it is a better deal to go with the room only discount and pay for dining out of pocket? can i still get tickets through WDW or do i need to go through a third party agent if i use the room only discount?

I know what I'll be doing Monday morning...after lots of Disney math in preparation today! :goodvibes
