Having lived through many hurricanes (Frederick, Opal, I even remember Camille as a young child) I know that the safety and welfare of my fellow human beings is much more important than my Disney Cruise.
After the last update my husband is worried it is going to skirt across the southern tip of FL and go into the Gulf of Mexico. Then I will have to worry about my family and our homes. It might even prohibit us from going I am worried and very sad.
Honeychild - you are so very right - I am sending pixie dust your way and hope you and yours are safe and sound - I am tracking Frances religiously -- I still hope we will all be able to hook up for a celebratory drink on the Wonder on 9/9...
Lets hope and pray that everything will be ok. I hope it dies down or changes course before it decides to come through Florida. I am worried that we won't be able to go. I think by 9/9 the cruise should be ok. But I'm more worried about 9/5 till 9/9 when I will be going to WDW.
Keep all your fingers and everything crossed and hope for the best. I only have 2 days left before I leave. Hopefully.
I also am watching Frances religiously, weather.com is a good source.
James - I am keeping an eye on everything too and hoping we all still have a good time
We don't fly until next Wednesday on the red-eye from L.A.
I think we'll be on a "cruise to nowhere" if Frances does all the damage they think she's doing...
I know they offered a $300 shipboard credit to the cruisers who left on their "cruise to nowhere" today - hope we get the same
James - keep us posted on how things go - we will be waiting on pins and needles for any news!
I hope you get out on that flight....
I really do think our cruise will happen - I just don't know how they'll handle it if we can't make any stops...it really doesn't seem fair to give only SOME 'cruises to nowhere' the onboard credit and discount - they should do the same for ALL.
My company has had us preparing at work all day for Francis. We had to buy plywood, tarps, and things. Then we got a memo from home office to stay at work all weekend, just stopped by house to batten down the hatches here. I really hope that those of you flying in don't have your flights cancelled.
james if you can fly into Tallahassee, it's only about a four hour drive to WDW.
Cruise should be fine by Wed. though.
ginabug! Why in the world do you have to stay at work all weekend?? what do you do?
I hope you are right and we can all meet up on the Wonder for happier times next week - - and I hope you and yours are safe and unscathed through all of this horrid weather
Does anybody know yet if CC took a beating? Or Nassau for that matter? I would imagine they must have....
I truly hope we get to stop SOMEWHERE - I just read that the extended Labor Day cruise is going to Cozumel on Saturday -- I don't think our cruise is long enough to do that
But I hope that we too will be compensated somehow if it's a "cruise to nowhere"
Ginabug, let's hope the panhandle doesn't get too much of this storm. Stay safe.
I too think our 9/9 cruise will go out, I am affraid it will be a cruise to nowhere. That isn't my ideal situation, but I guess we'll do whatever they have planned.
I hope everyone's travel plans go well. I too would like to meet for a celebratory drink!
I agree, Honeychild - I think we will have a 'cruise to nowhere' for sure - here's hoping that we get that shipboard credit
Or something at least
But...we will make the best of it, oh yes we will and I say we MUST meet up for a shipboard celebration -- just GETTING there is worth it, don't you think?
Sending pixie dust to all of you in Florida from here at the home of the original Mouse Factory!!
Although it isn't what I planned, a trip to nowhere will be great. I can catch up on movies, I can spend more time on my verandah, I can RELAX and not worry about work, I can get an extra massage, and I can spend time with my family enjoying everything Disney! It is starting to sound really good.
May we have smooth sailing, sunny skies and days filled with WONDER!
It will give you the latest updates for the cruises that are leaving.
We might end up in Tallahasee if at the time the storm is moving near Orlando. I am hoping that the parks will be open at the earliest Monday. I know they are saying that the parks will be closed on Saturday. I talked to a Disney Cruise Lines Rep and she said that everything should be normal for our cruise. I hope since it is my first cruise it won't be a 'cruise to no where' trip. But if it is I will deal and enjoy the time I have there. Like Honeychild said I will enjoy my Verandah and catch up on movies and enjoy the sea. My GF future F said if we get ship board credit then she is going to the spa treatment, little does she know I already have that paid for.
I will catch up with you all tomorrow everyone keep their fingers crossed and hope that this thing depletes before it reaches florida.
It looks like my flight is cancelled for sunday indefinatly. They said I can fly out on Monday and refund me some money, but how devestating will it be when I get there? I don't know what exactly to do about WDW because I'm worried that parks will be closed on Monday. So I guess I will wait it out and see.
I have been on the phone with WDW all morning not to mention American Airlines. One rep told me that the hurricane is over Castaway Cay right now. 1:30PST.
CrazySun27, to shed some light on your question/concern. The Disney Rep I talked to said if I wanted to I can cancel and reschedule for a later date with no penalties. The only thing that is a worry if I was to do that is that they said if there was any difference in price for a later date I would have to pay it. But they are willing to completely refund my money for the whole thing if I wish. But I am a trooper and I have a flight leaving from San Jose International on Sunday and arriving Monday in Orlando. Because I have been waiting for this for soooooooo long you don't even know. But thats me. So hopefully that information helps you out.
As for the rest of you that will or might be on the ship I will see you there.
Some Numbers that people can use
800-511-1333 - DCL
407-939-7529 - Weather @ WDW and other stuff too
407-939-3463 - Disney Dining (if you have reservations for dining @ WDW)
I am sailing, that's all I can say! I've been looking forward to this for too danged long! And honestly? I'm looking forward to seeing the Wonder herself more than anything else.
I am a CM so if I cancel? I can GUARANTEE I probably won't get a refund - LOL. I'm pretty certain by Wednesday I should be able to fly in - I can't imagine the airport will still be closed - we land at 6:15am on Thursday - cruise day - so I think we'll be fine. I swear, even if it's a cruise to nowhere? I'm on it! My boss sailed on BOTH innaugeral cruises and says we will have a blast on this ship even if we just sail around on her!
