Sept. 7, 2012 - Magic NYC - Canada

Oh goodness, starting to think about packing already?!? :scared1: I just started looking at airfare to go home to DE so I can go thru everything that's being left for me and then I will start thinking about packing. Oh yeah.....that won't be until the end of August.

Anyone watch the Magic sail into NYC harbor this morning - gets me excited everytime I see it.

Does anyone know how far the Verazanno Bridge is from the Statue of LIberty?

I'm going to say not too far, but that's a really vague answer and not the one you are looking for. I can't remember how long it takes since it's been 4 years since DD & I sailed out of NYC.
I think it's 30 minutes or so to the Statue of Liberty and maybe another 10-15 minutes to the bridge.

I found this quote on another thread:

Last week we passed the SOL at 5:30 pm...I checked my watch to make sure. We left at 5:00 and were going by SOL at 5:30...VNB was about 15 to 20 minutes more.

They were asking what your port arrival time was and were holding people back from entering the terminal upon arrival if you were earlier than your port arrival time.

They started boarding a little after noon, if I can remember. Oh, and Platinum club members will get boarding #2, not #1 like they do in Port Canaveral. I was told they are going to be uniform in policy at all the ports they sail from and going forward Platinum will be #2.

Thanks, that's was I was guessing too!

Since it's a non-Champagne Girls meeting for a drink.....men are invited also. I told DH John that he has to wear his cabana boy shirt....it's a pink and white hawaiian flowers shirt that he wore to the champagne girls tasting on the Hawaii cruise. He and two other friends poured the champagne for us....hence they got the name cabana boys.

Glad to hear this, my DH will be happy. I will make sure he wears something pink :rotfl:

I'm the dashing one in the middle :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Because we just booked this cruise a week ago, I am trying to get up to speed on this thread and my planning. We are spending a few days in New York before the cruise and I finally found a hotel and booked it. Has anyone stayed at the New Yorker? It is at 34th St and 8th Ave. Trip Advisor indicated it is in a good location and we were able to book a suite for a reasonable price.

Now if I could find a flight I'd be set.

Is there an FE group for this cruise? Is it to late to join?

Welcomepixiedust:
I don't know about the hotel but noticed you are from San Francisco. DH and I lived in San Carlos our entire life until we moved to VA 12 years ago. BFF and her DH live in Carmichael and will be on the cruise with us. They are retired and are driving to NY! I get home at least once a year because I am a season ticket holder of the Giants! Look forward to meeting you. AirTran was publishing some pretty good fares into LaGuardia.

Sue. We live in the city but have been to San Carlos, it is a lovely town. We thought about driving to New York, for about 5 minutes. Thanks for the tip on AirTran, I'll look into it.

Do you know if this meet has a Fish Extender group and if it is still open?

Thanks for the welcome.

Hi :wave2: We're Back!

My wife Judy and I were booked on this cruise way back when, but switched to the Disney Fantasy at the end of September. Well, today we got an offer we couldn't refuse (how New York) for DVC members and just booked a category 4A room. So, if you'll allow us back in, here we are.

And yes, we're still going on the Fantasy. I can't believe we're doing this. we have a lot of catching up to do.

Hi Everyone! We got the same DVC offer today and just booked as well! Could not pass it up. We were on the 8 day Magic out NYC to the Bahamas on June 2nd and now we are going this cruise. We're very excited. This will be our fifth cruise on the Magic.

We just took advantage of the DVC deal too...excited that we were able to apply the discount to our existing reservation and upgraded to a 4A from a secret porthole room...and saved quite a bit of money in the process.

I don't think there is a FE set up for this group.

Hey everyone! We are going on the cruise as well, and I would love to setup the fish extender list.

Easiest to manage is to fill out this webform that will update a master spreadsheet. I will post the updates in the forum as well.

Let me know if people are okay with this methodology!

(If this seems too complicated, I can always do it the old fashioned way)

I just read through all the posts. I have seen many people ask about the FE Group, but it doesn't look like anyone set one up. I think I saw something about a group meet on the first day in the Promenade Lounge at 3 pm, but then I saw something about another get together the first sea day in Diversions at 3 pm.

JillJill. Since you started the thread, do you think you can post information on your first post. You can edit it. Add the Meet information there because any of us last minute cruisers joining can quickly catch up on important information just by looking at the first post.

I LOVE your form!! I organized the FE on my last cruise and I created a google spreadsheet but I love how you are going about collecting the information!

Thank you! I know it may seem a bit involved, however it definitely automates the process.
