Hi,Because we just booked this cruise a week ago, I am trying to get up to speed on this thread and my planning. We are spending a few days in New York before the cruise and I finally found a hotel and booked it. Has anyone stayed at the New Yorker? It is at 34th St and 8th Ave. Trip Advisor indicated it is in a good location and we were able to book a suite for a reasonable price.
Now if I could find a flight I'd be set.
Is there an FE group for this cruise? Is it to late to join?

Thank you so much. My DH was concerned we would be in the tenderloin and by the wharfs. I think he watches too much tv. Afterall we live right in San Francisco and know you have to be smart no matter where you are in the city.Hi,
Can't give you feedback about the New Yorker, but 34th and 8th is a great location! Penn Station, Madison Square Garden (7th Ave), Macys are all there. Busy location, and close to public transportation as well as taxi stands by the Garden and Penn Station. Lots of places to eat in that general vicinity, it would be my choice of location in the city.
I also just booked and just started planning...

I am new to this board and not sure if I am posting this in the right place. In reading through all the posts, I read that many are planning to drive to NY. Please be aware that construction has just started on the George Washington Bridge/roadways, and the predictions about the delays are dire. If you Google construction GW Bridge, you can find information about the delays expected and plan extra time or an alternate route.

Is there going to be a Group Meet the day we sail or is the only meet going to be the first sea day wearing pink in Diversions? Also, has anyone started a roll call of who is sailing? I can do that but don't want to repeat the effort if someone has been keeping track.

As far as I know the only scheduled meet is on the first sea day (the pink champagne one). I have not checked the Facebook group yt, will be doing this later today. Also, I don't think there is a roll call set up yet.

The New Yorker is a well-known hotel. It's an older hotel and like many New York hotels, the rooms are smaller than what you are probably used to. It's conveniently located a block from Penn Station and you have a McDonald's and Starbucks across the street. My office building is a block down 35th street on 9th Avenue. A little promo here. If you're coming into New York for a couple of days, check out B&H Photo and Video on 34th and Ninth. It's to photographers and audiophiles what the Disney Store is to us Disney nuts.
Count us in - I just completed the form.
