On our drive inland, we saw telephone poles & power poles snapped in 1/2 or completely down. There were power lines in the road, and trees everywhere. Heck, you can still see the damage in the old pine trees all over WDW, especially on the road from Saratoga Springs to OKW.

Our September Magic cruise last year was delayed because of Hurricane Jeanne. We were able to get a room at OKW and rode it out there. Because PC was closed they bussed us to Fort Lauderdale to board. On the way to Fort Lauderdale we picked up guests at SSR and we were amazed by the damage. I felt so bad listening to people complain about their 'ruined' trip on the bus as we were passing so much destruction. I can't imagine having to live through that fear every year.

I have some good news :cheer2:

Last night after I read Walker his bedtime stories, I asked him what he was looking forward to at WDW. I didn't ask about the cruise because I don't think he has any expectations of it. I did tell him that he could have as much ice cream as he wanted and would never hear that it was a lot of money because it was all "free". He definately liked that idea.

So, at WDW, he tell me he wants to ride Goofy's Barnstormer. Okay, no problem, no surprises there.

Then he tell me he wants to go to the KIDS CLUB! :earseek:  I couldn't believe what he was telling me. :cool1: Our last trip for Member Homecoming, we put the kids into the cubs den at the WL. Both boys had a blast and this is what Walker wants to do again on vacation. Walker told me, you know that place Cameron & I went to so you and Daddy could ride Big Thunder Mountain (actually it was RnRC & Twilight Zone, but that's okay, I can live with his memory ;) ).

Needless to say, I don't think I have to worry about him going into the kids club on the cruise. :cheer2: :cheer2:

That is great Cindy!

I've never seen the kids clubs at the resorts, but I have seen the ones on the ship and I think he's going to love them!

Ron Dougay!! Stacy, he was my ultimate crush as a teenager. I bet no one else has even heard of him! :rotfl: I had NYR season tix my 4 years in HS and I would take the subway into MSG every game early to watch them practice. I even got a signed puck from him!! I just thought he was super cool for not wearing a helmet!

Oh, I actually remember him. During our college years my sister was a big hockey fan. We would go to Flyers games and have seats in the last row in the stadium. My head would hit the concrete wall of the Spectrum every time. I, though, enjoyed the fights more than the game :guilty: We even flew to Chicago for a long weekend to see the Blackhawks play since they were here favorite team. Which reminds me that I did sort of meet someone famous. At the Blackhawks game we were seated a row behind OJ's lawyer Shapiro(?) and family. This was during or right after his trial so I knew who he was even if the armed police escort hadn't give it away. :)

1. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you? I've had a few :guilty:. The one I remember vividly was sitting in an airport with my Mom. Prior to her stroke, my Mom had a nasty habit of cracking her gum. So, we're sitting there and I hear "snap", "snap", "snap". I can't take it anymore! I turn to her and say "can you quit cracking that gum!". Mom looks back at me, smiles and says "I don't have any gum". It was the man sitting next to me. I wanted to die. The best part -- he continued to crack that gum over and over again.

2. What was the funniest thing that happened to you? Besides thinking Lisa had a full size goat hanging in her house on a noose? :rotfl:

3. What is the best thing about your life right now? My kids, without a doubt! A cruise in 10 days isn't that far behind ;)

4. What is your favorite kind of music? I don't usually listen to my own music, usually have tapes playing with kids songs on them

5. If you had to choose between being in a choir and being in a play, what would you choose? better say play. At least there's a chance the audience wouldn't walk out :rotfl:

6. What is one talent most people here don’t know that you have? I know how to crochet and made several afgans for my sister when I was much younger

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? south of here, not in Florida though. We love the South Carolina area, maybe there

8: What was the worst thing you ever cooked or baked? Years ago, I tried to BBQ pork chops using a charcoal grill. My ex and I were having company for dinner. The flame on the grill got a bit large and I tried to put it out by pouring some water on the coals. Bad move, it just covered the pork chops with soot. They were burned beyond recognition. Even my ex wouldn't eat them. I still hear about that from our dinner guest that night.

9: If someone made a movie about your life, what would they call it? Trial & Error :rotfl2:

1. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you? Long before I met Mark I was interested in one of my brother's friends. His name was Chuck and I stood up with him at my brother's wedding. Well 3 months after the wedding I fall and break my ankle and end up in the hospital. Chuck being the nice guy he is came to visit me, but walked in right as I was on the bedpan! Lovely! To make matters worse he worked in a hospital so could tell and asked me if I he wanted me to take it away. Needless to say that relationship never led to anything.

2. What was the funniest thing that happened to you? Lots of little funnies but nothing that stands out

3. What is the best thing about your life right now? Everything! We have a house that is paid for, both have steady jobs, both are in good health, and we can afford some great vacations that lead to meeting great people. Life is good!

4. What is your favorite kind of music? Pop and Irish

5. If you had to choose between being in a choir and being in a play, what would you choose? Choir definately. I may not sign well, but I love the blending of voices. Way too shy to be in a play.

6. What is one talent most people here don’t know that you have? I don't think of myself as having an real talent.

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Would love Florida, but I'd also be very happy in the area on TN where Mark's Aunt and Uncle live.

8: What was the worst thing you ever cooked or baked? I don't think I've ever had a disaster cooking or baking.

9: If someone made a movie about your life, what would they call it?
DIS functional :)

OMG, Mary I would have died.

With spending 30 days in the hospital before Cameron was born, I thanked my doctors repeatedly that they allowed me to use the bath room and take a shower daily. ;)

I would have loved that but this was the day after my surgery back in the days when they actually let you stay in bed. I also had a cast that went from my foot (with toes open) all the way up to my upper thigh and was in traction. Not a pretty picture!

Giving a bump closer to 8800 now to work I go. I'll check in at lunch time. Have a great day everyone!

I can bump it too! :Pinkbounc

Who is going to post 8800? :cool1:

Gosh, it's so quite here again

1. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you? I went to Hawaii with my family in 1985. It was just before my senior year in h.s. In one shop there was this guy selling flip-flops, but there was no strap...they "glued" to the bottom of your feet so you didn't get tan lines or anything. The guy was talking all about them and there was a manequin holding a pair. At one point the guy holds a pair out and says "go ahead, squeeze it." So I reached back and squeezed the manequin's butt....making my siblings crack up. Welllllll.....10 minutes later, as we're shopping in that store, and the guy at the front is still hawking glue on flip-flops....I see the "manequin" step down off the box, and walk to the back of the store. YES, the color of my cheeks very closely resembled the color of this type!!! Oh, and btw, glue on flip flops collect a lot of sand on the beach.

2. What was the funniest thing that happened to you? in hindsight, #1 was one of the funniest! :) Lots of funny things happened. I grew up in a family of comedians!

3. What is the best thing about your life right now? dh. God couldn't have blessed me with anyone better.

4. What is your favorite kind of music? I listen to most kinds....jazz, 40's, 80's, Radio Disney, etc etc....but my favorite is contemporary Christian or Praise and Worship.

5. If you had to choose between being in a choir and being in a play, what would you choose? Neither! I can't sing and I'd be WAY too nervous to get up on stage. Ok, give me the play, but I want a very brief, non-speaking part.

6. What is one talent most people here don’t know that you have? I can make annoying sqealing sounds with a blade of grass! :confused3

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I do love Ohio for the change of seasons, but am getting sick of grey and cloudy. Someday we'll live in FL. I'd love a neighborhood like Mitford where all the neighbors truly care about one another and are willing to pitch in, help out, and support one another.

8: What was the worst thing you ever cooked or baked? Baked ziti. Tasted like puke.

9: If someone made a movie about your life, what would they call it? :confused3
